Key Call Coming For Banged Up Lions

December 15th, 2019

There is division at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters this morning. Shouting has ensued and a heated arm-wrestling tournament is scheduled for 10 a.m. before the watch event at Buffalo Wild Wings in Sarasota.

One Joe thinks the Bucs might run into trouble against the Lions, the other Joe thinks the Bucs will (and certainly should) cruise to victory against a Lions team that is insulting its fans with poor play and losses in 9 of its last 10 games.

With stud running back Kerryon Johnson shelved in October with a serious injury, the Lions struggled at running back before settling on Bo Scarbrough. The 23-year-old Cowboys seventh-round pick last season has been an average runner in his four starts, primarily playing on first and second downs.

But insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network took to Twitter this morning to say Scarbrough will be a game-time decision because of his busted up ribs, and the Lions even promoted a practice squad running back to cover themselves.

That’s a bad sign for Scarbrough, as if the Bucs’ smothering run defense wasn’t bad enough for him.

Of course, the Lions are starting their third-string quarterback and have a load of other injuries. And they just put two more starters on injured reserve.

If the Bucs lose this game, Bucco Bruce Arians should issue a public apology and fire at least two coaches and cut three players by 9 p.m.

Bucs should win…but how many times have we seen this type of scenario turn into a painstaking loss? New Bucs/new era? We shall see.

Bucs will have an easy time with the pitiful Lions today. They are not nearly as good as their record (3 wins) and Bucs will win big.
Plus, it will be a great chance for Winston to put up big numbers against the league’s worst secondary and 29th ranked defense to help his cause.

See this game as a test for Jameis. There is no pressure as we aren’t gonna make the playoffs, but… This is a game that we should win, and win well. He shouldn’t have to throw for 400yds. He should be able to dink and dunk and pass off etc. and not take any pressure in the pocket. This should be a game where he uses his smarts and out foxes them!!! he is in his 5th year and this game is as easy as it gets in the NFL.
If he doesn’t dominate this game, that is a big RED FLAG going forward and means a lot more to the staff with his growth. I think this game will tell a lot about how Jameis has progressed this year.
I expect him to have a great game dispite the thumb, ME13 etc etc

I had read a surprising fact that seemed impossible, but I just checked and it’s true.

The Bucs have not won a game in Week 15 or Week 16 of the NFL season since

    December 26, 2010!

I think this D will put out a great performance. They’ll take away the Lions running game early and blitz Blough early and often. Their best offensive player is not the shifty or fast kind of WR that has given us problems this year. Golladay is more of a poor man’s Mike Evans. I’m pretty sure the Bucs DBs have plenty of experience with him.

So a 3rd string QB is starting again us today?

    That should go well……….

  7. Greg Says:

Im sure joe already has his “Dont blame Jameis his thumb hurt nd his all-world LT wasn’t playing.” article ready to post after a 2 interception and a fumble game.

  8. DalvinCookRules Says:

There is no “should win” with this team.

The Bucs tend to play to the level of their competition, and Winston has proven to be one of the most inconsistent QBs maybe in league history… a no-show by the defense coupled with a cameo appearance by Bad Jameis, could easily hand Detroit a victory.

  9. Dapostman Says:

Bucs will win this game because the team plays better on the road. Simple. They rally around each other on the road when at home they see the home fans stink it up by selling their tickets to away fans.

So… Who won the arm wrestling tournament?
