Bruce Arians: Jameis Has A “Slight Crack” In His Thumb

December 8th, 2019

So what happened to Jameis Winston at halftime?

Bucco Bruce Arians explained after the game.

Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Arians said America’s Quarterback came out of halftime and was having trouble gripping the ball because he had little strength in his thumb. It was a surprise because Jameis felt fine to finish the first half, Arians said.

So Jameis was sent back to the locker room for an X-ray.

Arians said tests showed Jameis had a “slight crack” but the head coach said he gave Jameis is own test of trying to slap the ball out of his quarterback’s hand. Jameis passed the test and the rest is history, with Jameis lighting up the Colts for a career day and a “W.”

    Stud.

  3. Deez days Says:

Yeah let’s say he has a crack in his thumb to use as an excuse for 3 interceptions

  4. Louis Says:

James may make some bonehead plays, but there is no quit in his vocabulary!

  5. Sharthappens Says:

Yay. Bench him. We win by 21 if he does not play in this game.

  6. WeeManOfScots Says:

What a tough guy…I’ve seen players play with broken limbs..lol…

    Thumb?..oh my..

  7. ModHairKen Says:

Look losers, Jameis won. I don’t give a crap if he threw 8 picks. They won. If you are worried about picks when they win, you are a loser.

  8. Louis Says:

Jameis may make some bonehead plays, but there is no quit in his vocabulary!

  9. Brandon Says:

FYI, Darius Leonard made two fantastic reads and plays on the ball. The other INT hit BP in his hands. ints are frustrating, but the first two were great plays and the third wasn’t on him. He was on fire otherwise. He’s asked to do more than most QBs and he’s way better than any QB that will be available next season. Like it or not, he is your QB of the future. Don’t like it? Feel free to jump ship.

  10. Deez days Says:

    Jameis sucks

  11. Dreghost Says:

The guy had an amazing terrible game today! Pretty much sums up his career…am i wrong for wanting a little better play from under the center?

  12. Deez days Says:

Can’t wait to see a real QB under center next season

  13. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard think glasers want to avoid paying whenever they can…screw the team…screqw the stockholder chumps, right? ….just make mopney!

  14. Bucsfan77 Says:

I’ll Take 3 int every game if it still ends with a W. 400+ yards 4 TDs.

  15. tmaxcon Says:

You interception focused idiots are pathetic…. now your pissed he won…. you ladies need help

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

With the price of admission, The Bucs should give everybody a strong free drink of their choice. They need it and a few more during the game. I watched from home and downed 12 tequila shots plus 6 beers. Needless to say, I am feeling no pain. If Jameis stays, I will become an alcoholic. But I’ll take the win. He got it done somehow.

  17. Cgmaster27 Says:

@deez hold you breath and see how that works out for ya. Jameis will be back next season. Book it.

  18. Sleepy903 Says:

Slight crack and continued to play well enough to win. I get that it gets annoying watching this show every week. However you cant deny that he puts this team in a position to win every week. As long as JW is behind the center I dont think you can ever count this team out. However you can never count the other team out either.

  19. Cgmaster27 Says:

I love the trolls finding things to complain about. Keep moving them goal posts clowns. Im just curious how many of you trolls are the same person with differnet accounts.

  20. tmaxcon Says:

Joe was that the first time in the last decade bucs d held on to a late 4th qtr lead. Cancer93 and lvd never held anything but opponents hands in 4th during thier watch….

  21. Bobby Says:

What a bunch of troll non-fans. We WON! Our QB found a way to come back from 3 picks and win the game. What part of that don’t you idiots comprehend?
Would you rather have 0 picks and a loss??! Morons….

  22. Ocala Says:

    Come on Jamies Haters
Back off for a day when he throws for over 400 yards has 4 TD’s and the game winning drive.

  23. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

“Slight crack,” that gets Jay Miss excited. Just ask the Uber driver and Kinsman.

  24. MtBucsfan Says:

Yep the real QB you will see next season will be the same you’ve seen this season. Winston may have given up some points but he accounted for 5 tds. If you hate him that much than just go away. Hes not going anywhere.

  25. DB55 Says:

JAyMiSs AtM WiNsNoT the UbEr CrABlEg threw for 395 4TDs/2ints and a home win W a BrOkEn ThUmB?

    Didn’t a broken thumb end Freeman’s career?

  26. Dennis Vanhook Says:

For all u haters of JBo… like Brandon said shut your mouth and just jump ship!! Nobody will miss your input!!!

  27. HeavyE Says:

    @Ocala, they can’t see through those sheets……..

  28. Old Sombrero Says:

If there’s any measurable growth with JW is he’s been able to o Er one the idiotic plays. As Marvin Hagler once said “you gotta give due when due is due”. He’s battled the last few games.

  29. Slepy903 Says:

This offseason is going to be interesting. You obviously cant pay him top notch money but he has the talent to be a top QB. If they can lock him up for 3 years 22-24 mil a year w/ a 3 year option thats a good team friendly deal w/ no longterm concerns and a trade friendly contract.

Im pretty sure the bucs are going to keep him but I wonder what his agent really thinks he is worth. I have a feeling the Patriots would sign him however not at that price. I could see the Broncos and the Steelers showing interest as well.

  30. Fire the fans Says:

You guys that are begging for another quarterback next year; you are in for a rude awakening. Might want to find a new team now so that the rest of us don’t have to hear your bellyaching

  31. Jcscycles Says:

We saw Ryan Griffin today. No thanks.

Thumb injury to a QB can be serious. Look what happened to Drew Brees.

Winston willed us to a win. Those bombs down the field are terrific, and when Evans went down Perriman Watson and Rojo stepped up. Beat Houston next week and we will go 9-7. No playoffs this year, but next year we can finally get there.

  32. LostinPA Says:

I agree with the bench Jameis but for a different reason. We know what we have in him. He is a Brett Farve gunslinger who is good for at least one INT per game. No one else out there has proven they can drop 30 points like it’s nothing. When he is in his head he makes mistakes. That’s why we see regular first drive INTs. He also make mistakes when he thinks he has to put the team on his back. If we have a middle of the pack defense he could relax more and not push the ball into tight windows. We can win playoffs with him if we have a defense and a coach he trusts. Since we are out of the playoffs and he isn’t 100% we should see what Griffin has in him as a backup. Evans isn’t coming back this year either so he’ll have company on the bench.

  33. Trollsmacker Says:

Lotta morons in the comment section. Your QB is responsible for 5 touchdowns and almost 500 yards of offense and a win and you want the backup? Go watch something else football is beyond your comprehension. Sure up that offensive line and I guarantee you cut the turnovers in half. Fix the defensive secondary and you’ll win 10+ games a season for the next decade.

  34. Allbuccedup Says:

I am starting to think let should resign Jameis, I never thought I would say that, but he can sure move the ball.

  35. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Once again the shart that comes out of peoples minds. We win by 21 ??? With who Ryan Griffin? We would have lost by 21. Maybe no three inerceptions but definitely not scoring 38 with that run game!

  36. unbelievable Says:

“We win by 21 if he does not play in this game.”

Interesting. Who was gonna score those 5 TDs then?

The turnovers are a huge problem but stop pretending we can easily find a qv thst can produce the same points without turnovers. If it was that easy every team in the league would have a pro bowl QB.

Fix the o-line first. Run game improves and then you can drop in a new QB that’s not as aggressive

  37. JimmyJack Says:

I literally thought when Griffin came in the Winston Era was over.

His mistakes did put us in a hole today but was glad to see him come back out as it was honestly our only chance to make the comeback.

A credit goes to the defense who played much better then the score indicates.

All in all we defientally we’re the better team today & Winston is a huge part of that. But we must learn to limit the fundamental mistakes & then we can be set to contend. Winston is s top on that list……but he is also a vital piece to this team.

It’s Winston time yo make a stide in his development & get our Bucs to hit full potential. Unlike the past he now has the supporting cast to do so. Coaching included.

  38. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Jameis won the game with a broken finger and one that doesn’t work at all. He had 3 fingers and passed for over 450 yards and 4TDs. Suck on that Winston Bashers! Go Bucs! 4 out of the last 5!

  39. Alanbucsfan Says:

Well, if Jameis is the QB, Bucs need a Dominant D to make up for the turnovers.
He is a helluva athlete, but the picks are here to stay with him, as are the td passes.

  40. The Coroner Says:

Imagine how Jameis would do if he had a decent line at left tackle and right tackle and a bruising running back who could actually run for more than 4 yards per carry.

  41. EEK Says:

    Winston makes your head spin.
Dude was so so good but was a drop away from throwing 4 interceptions.

    He’s got so much talent.

I guess it just leaves you hoping he’ll learn how to be consistent — after 5 years it’s hard to imagine that is going to happen, and yet, how do you give up on him when he throws for 4 TDs and 450 yards?

  42. Space Coast Justin Says:

    Eatin W’s

  43. Boombang Says:

@ Deez Days, will you use that same excuse for throwing for over 400+ yrds and 4 TDs.

  44. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Yup, let’s analyze Jay Miss’s interceptions today. Was he hurried on the first one? No. Was he hurried on the 2nd one? No.
Jay Miss cannot figure a defense in year five. He is hopeless! But you dopes want to franchise him or pay him 30M a year for several years. What a freaking joke!

  46. July Joe Says:

LEGENDARY GAME … JAMEIS WILL GET PAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

JW throws for 4 TDs and 450+ yards and idiots say we would have won by 21 without him, mocking his injury and lets see Griffin play. Joe, the JoeBucsFan site that I used to love and have read and commented on every single moring for so many years is really getting bad. These trolls are disgusting. So disappointing…

  48. View from 132 Says:

Hey Senor… it isn’t trolling to want to see Ryan Griffin play a couple full games.

    Several reasons…
    1. We are eliminated. Season is over.
    2. There is PLENTY of tape on Jameis.
    3. We should also see what we have in a guy paid to be here for 5 years, deemed good enough by two coaching staffs to keep.
    4. If Griffin is good, he’d be 90% cheaper next year.
    5. It helps to evaluate the rest of the offense when the QB changes. We have lots of tape that boils down to Jameis did something good or bad. There are 10 other guys on the field – some with major contract decisions ahead.
    6. Griffin sets a clear of expectation of what we have WITHOUT Jameis. Would we suddenly be a one win team? A 10 win team? About the same?

  49. Dapostman Says:

Ryan Griffin? Lmao. The guy has been on a roster for years. That means he’s practiced against REAL NFL players for years and not ONE coach has thought enough of him to actually play him in a game.

The Patriots knew Brady was better than Bledsoe when he was tearing it up in practice. No problem making a change when Bledsoe got hurt.

The Seahawks knew Wilson was going to start over Matt Flynn when he was tearing it up in practice. No problem giving the rookie the job over the high priced free agent.

    Ryan Griffin? Please.

  50. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Seriously? Ryan Griffin is going to rise up from literally no where? Ok

  51. Donnie wish we were better Buc fan Says:

I really don’t know what to think anymore.

On one hand JW showed resilience and looked really good in the come back efforts.

BUT on the other hand; he wouldn’t have to come back, throw all those yardage/TD if he didn’t throw all those int.

It’s like getting credit for fixing my car after you broke it.
