Jameis Says He Screwed Up When Perriman Tackled Ogunbowale

October 27th, 2019

The Perriman Special today was an instant classic. If it happens again, it’ll rival the ghastly Benn’d Around play of the Raheem Morris era.

But deeper exploration of that 3rd-and-goal play that saw receiver-in-motion Brashad Perriman tackle running back Dare Ogunbowale in the red zone revealed a culprit.

His name is Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback.

“That one’s on me,” Jameis said during his postgame news conference. “It’s just a timing snap; we worked on it in practice. That was the first time that we’ve done it with him in the game. That was on me. I just got to have better timing.”

So there you have it. Just another bonehead play by Jameis.

Joe has heard every Jameis news conference since he’s arrived in Tampa, and Joe certainly didn’t smell Jameis covering for a teammate in this situation. Jameis sounded authentic when he said he messed up on that key red zone play.

Jameis Winston now has 6 career games with 4+ giveaways (most such games by any QB since 2015)

Reporting live from Nashville. Jameis Winston is a joke. All Titans fans knew it, and Bucs fans were embarassed. What kind of idiot is still going to say Winston’s time to prove himself is running out? For the past two games, a QB who should not have made the many mistakes he did should have gone down the field and won the game. Once again, Winston blew it Run him out of town soonest.

  7. Pete I Says:

Well I thought it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen at any level of football.

Jameis ” meaningless stats ” Winston America’s QB shouldn’t be ashamed. There is something to be said for making people laugh.

It’s why the movie Caddyshack is timeless.

Embrace your inner Rodney Dangerfield Jameis!

  8. ClodHopper Says:

Arians providing cover for the turnover machine will probably blame the dbs

Cut Perriman. He is worse than useless, he is a detriment.

  15. Sharthappens Says:

He also admitted that the snapped ball that hit him in the face was on him. He forgot the snap count and was looking the other way. How can that be????

BA doesn’t like Justin Watson….coaches are like that with certain players…but Watson has a history of excellent hands coming to the Bucs …my guess is Perriman was a BA sign/guy

  18. rrsrq Says:

Why that a running play on 3rd and goal from the four

  19. rrsrq Says:

    *to Dare
Does this team not like ROJO

  20. Bucsfan951 Says:

But let’s make sure everyone knows that the ints WERE NOT winstons fault. Last games ints weren’t his fault too! That was on the o line. The week before that, it was the defenses fault. The week before that, it was lack of a running game. Week before that, it was the kicker. Wonder what next week will be? Who’s left? Oh I know! The punter!!!

  21. buc up Says:

Bone-headed call. Time for ‘Lefty’ to learn on the job somewhere else.

  22. 813bucboi Says:

The funny thing is, tomorrow joe will say, JW has 9 more games to prove he’s the one…..lol…

    GO BUCS

  23. Dom > Licht Says:

New coaching staff 2 weeks to prepare against a bad team that changed QBs…. anyone that thinks this team is good is delusional!

  24. Slugglife Says:

But fumble sht. It’ll be on ESPN endlessly. At least well get some highlight coverage.

Well done guys. Enjoy your millions. Apparently you earned it. No wonder our home stadium has more visiting fans than Bucs fans.

They enjoy the ineptitude and laughs. Oh and a high winning percentage. They’re hard earned dollar goes further than ours.

    But again. Enjoy your millions.

  25. Slugglife Says:

Lest any of you VH3 apologists even FN forget, this franchise released Derrick FN Brooks because he “lost a step”.

His lost step was light years ahead of our biggest liability on defense. The laughing hyena who has more slip and falls on his resume than the Dolman Group.

Light that up and smoke it.

  26. Im tired and 87 is right Says:

Now yahoo is talking about the refs screwing us over yet not one article or fan talking about that…Nope alls you all want to talk about is Jameis. Shows you our own fan base is a dear in headlights. Maybe y’all should go look in the damn mirror and start ranting on a real issue!

  27. 541Buc Fan Says:

    You know what’s even funnier?

Winston will be the starter next week.

    Let that soak in.

  28. Slugglife Says:

I gotta say it was a helluva tackle. Have VH3 watch that on GIF loop for the next 5 days then put him in on Oklahoma drill against ROJO.

10 times in a row. Let’s see if he can make 1 tackle. I’d bet the farm he’d whiff 10 in a row.

  30. AMI_Chris Says:

I’m still feeling pretty good about my preseason prediction of 5-11. Though I’m struggling to confidently predict 3 more wins this year. This team is laughably bad.

  31. Buccfan37 Says:

I expect Winston to finish out the season at QB. He could lead this team to a few more wins.

  32. ElioT Says:

Next week Jameis will probably play a good game and the defense will puke all over their *****.

Either way Wilson will show everyone what a true franchise QB is.

Imagine the Seahawks with Evans and Godwin…

    LOL.

    We’re screwed folks.

    This is a train wreck.

  33. Sharthappens Says:

Jameis Winston now has 6 career games with 4+ giveaways (most such games by any QB since 2015)!!!

  34. ElioT Says:

You can play your “tail off” and crap in the other.

    Or you can do both.

That’s what we have here in Tampa.

And now we can a HC will early onset retirement syndrome.

  35. down in the dirt doug Says:

The buck stops with our owners,gm,and coaching staff. They should all be ashamed of the product on the field.BA has been whispering, but it has gone in one of Jameis ears and out the other. So sad—so very very sad.Thank you to our players like Mike and JPP–you fought the good fight and we are very proud of you.

  36. JameisHas2Go Says:

    Sharthappens Says:
That’s because JW is a retard and cannot handle pressure.

    – Jameis is not precise, and that is the problem. It is not an intelligence thing it is a detail issue.
One of Jameis best traits as a teammate is he will take the blame when it warranted. And sometimes when it is not. That is why guys love’em even if they don’t like playing with him( Desean Jackson never said a cross word about Jameis, but you can bet your bottom dollar he didn’t like Jameis as a QB).

  37. Aceofaerospace Says:

This season is over. I want to give Griffin the next 9 games to find out if he’s a good backup. Or do both of them need to be replaced.

  38. Jake Says:

Ive loved this team for so long but today made me lose any hope of this team being relevent for the foreseeable future. Also i was the biggest jameis fanboy when he was at fsu, but he has 9 turnovers in two games and make backbreaking picks that only a bad qb would make anyone with a brain knows that unless we go 8-1 in the next 9 weeks, we are drafting a qb this year.
    Go bucs.

  39. Pelbuc61 Says:

JW, Perriman, Donovan Smith, Dotson, and Ogunlawale should all be wearing new uniforms by Tuesday. And Licht should be fired tonight. Oh well, at least I can dream.

  40. Old Sombrero Says:

A three ring circus. Never practiced it with “him in the game”? What does that mean? They’ve not practiced it at game speed?

  41. tgregs Says:

Jame-ass Dumb-Ass Stuidest player in NFL

  42. unbelievable Says:

Jameis is a shell of his former self.

He’ll never be good in Tampa at this point.

    Time to move on.

12 years rebuilding and counting! Woohoo!

  43. DBS Says:

Lightning suck last night with their useless backup goalie and lose to Nashville. Bucs suck today and lose to Tenn.
Fantastic weekend for Tenn. Tampa should be proud!!

  44. T REX Says:

ndog: But but but I love him and it wasn’t his fault. It was God’s fault because Winston is the best thing ever. I love him so much.

  45. 123urout Says:

Bucs also known as the “Clown team” . Headed by the clownmaster QB Jameis “Bonehead” Winston

  46. JameisAlmighty! Says:

All the Jameis Bashers are idiots. Jasmeis just gave you some fake news to keep ur hate up while he laughs at you wasting your lives away hating him.

  47. I blame the Glazers Says:

I’ve been a pro-Jameis guy for years. But reality is simple, even a mediocre NFL QB can win with this offense (look at weeks 1-3 last year for proof). Jameis is one game short of a quarter of his his games being terrible for the season. There’s a narrow window of time left that The Bucs will have that much deceiving talent on the field. But Jameis is Jameis. It’s time to move on.

A rookie QB and cutting several DB’s will free up cap for a few veteran DBs, will do wonders for this team.

  48. Bird Says:

    Jameis almighty

    I mean Whats up Webster
Yah. He is giving us fake news. Or Fake play
10 turnovers in 2 games. Not his fault though

    I saw your post earlier
You thought he had a good game
You are a funny Nole fan. I would be worried for Jameis if you were around him.

  49. Richard Dickson Says:

I honestly think this is Jameis taking one for the team. And even if the snap was early, Perriman had to have seen the play starting in front of him.

  50. BA FAN Says:

So how was Perriman running into Dare Jameis’ fault, other than Jameis taking the blame? Perriman should have seen Dare before he ran into him and he wasn’t lifting his arm to take a handoff either.

  51. DooshLaRue Says:

    ndog?
    ndog?
    ndog?

    How can this be?

  52. Jmarkbuc Says:

    #1 pick, 4+ years of experience…

    Can’t handle snap count.

    Problems with basic mental fundamentals.

    BA thinks he’s fantastic.

    We are so F’d

  53. Conte Piscatelli Says:

During the game they showed the graphic of the top the players for turnovers since 2015, and Jameis tops the list. The other two no longer start, and one of them won 2 Superbowls. Time to move on

  54. James Walker Says:

So it is Jameis’ fault that the center snapped the ball when the QB is motioning? Jameis will be cut and win a Superbowl in another team that has their sh@t together. Perhaps more than one.

  55. TexBuc Says:

I am sure the Glazers will take all the advice given tonight into their decision making process on how this franchise should be operated…NOT.

Look forward to next weeks game against Seattle.

  56. Anonymous Says:

    FLUSHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  57. Colorado Says:

Not sure why Ogunbowale is in for any major plays at all. Good depth guy but that’s it… He should be used as much as Rojo was used last year.

  58. LoveMeSomeBucs Says:

But oh if you listen to Brucie he says nothing is Winsons fault..Arians is mad because he lied to the Glazers and told them he could turn a silks purse into a sows ear ( Winston into a great QB).. Largest most diverse staff in the NFL and they play like a pop warner team coached by mommies and daddies

  59. DalvinCookRules Says:

This is what i worried about witb a new staff– there are plays and calls JW really shines at and others he is really horrible at. A coaching staff is going to have to figure out his weaknesses.

That kind of timing play should be scratched from the playbook when JW is your QB. On 2nd and goal, try faking thr run and roll JW out– he has a wont-be-denied mentality when he’s near the goal line and has a head of steam–or he will flip it to someone in the paint. Certain QBs have a knack for cetain kinds of plays–anyone ever see Tom Brady sneak it in on the goal line? Anytime over the last 18 years?
