Sims Out, Ayers Makes “Limited” Return

Will Robert Ayers be able to "beast" on Monday night?

Will Robert Ayers be able to “beast” on Monday night?

Lots happening on the Buccaneers’ official injury report this afternoon.

Charles Sims did not practice and has a “knee” injury. Doug Martin and Gerald McCoy also kept their cleats off, and Noah Spence (shoulder), Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and Keith Tandy (calf) couldn’t go.

Exciting, though, was the return of defensive end Robert Ayers (left ankle), who was limited. Luke Stocker was in the same limited boat, as he makes his way back from ankle trouble.

Ayers would be a huge addition if he can play. Heck, the Bucs were forced into using 34-year-old strongside linebacker Daryl Smith as an edge rusher last Sunday. Joe Twittered earlier that Ayers was in the locker room today with no sign of a limp.

Here’s to hoping this game is injury free for both existing and returning players!
    GO BUCS!

if ayers plays we might have a chance….big will and ayers on the outside…big clint and a.spence on the inside….we may be able to get some pressure on the qb…GO BUCS!!!!

    Ayers would be huge!

Guess this will force Koetter into using Rodgers as the primary back. Still hoping Sims can go b/c he is great as a WR and change-of-pace back.

    Lol! G.D amazing!

Sims get injured running into a wall which is a weakness of his skills and now we cant use him what he does best and our only reciever who can hurt the defense run after catch…you know like what julio jones did to panthers defense. Alot of the 300 yards was yac

Does kotter the clown lnow anything about mismatches and game planning weakness against teams and schemeing againsy their strengths?

I have no doubt instead of attacking the secondary which ryan killed for 500 yards, smirk is going underneath with mr #59 all game long

I can not beleve this sh!t

In the stands on Sunday, I watched Sims run. Could be a lack of blocking, but each time he stutter-steps at first, going nowhere. Dougie goes through the line much more quickly. is Sims having trouble seeing the gaps? Jacquizz seemed more confident and able to move quicker, although he did nothing to write home about. We really lack depth, everywhere.

Great….we probably planned to use Rodgers with Sims as a 3rd down back….now that’s gone.

    Does anyone miss Mike James?

For once Kobe we agree, it was horrible watching square peg in round hole when the round peg was sitting right there the whole time. Our coaching has to be better than that for us to be successful.

Shouldnt we have lakelands justin forsett in tampa…or did jason gump runout of glazers screwup money?

The last 1 with giving 1 mil to cecil short for 1 catch is classic gump

We need a old school GM to straighten this mess..

Mike James, Mike James, Mike James. Let me think . . . oh yea, Mike James!

Going underneath against Carolina has one major obstacle named Luke Kuechly.

I’m not a Sims fan for anything. He has twice dropped passes that were catchable that resulted in picks. He gets antsy when he hears footsteps and panics. Sure, those were bad decisions by JW but either bat the pass down or make sure to catch it at a bare minimum. I just fail to see the advantage in having a guy that can’t run between the tackles, is pretty darn terrible as a blocker, and SOMETIMES catches the ball. The only asset I will give him is he is shifty and has speed in space.

This is a huge game but if Ayers is in limited practice I dont know about bringing him back for this game. Especially if Newton doesn’t play.

This team could really use Mike James right about now. Could have easily stepped into the shoes of Martin, but oh wait, he’s on the Lions practice squad instead!
