The War On Jameis

December 15th, 2015
The anti-Jameis crowd is mind-boggling.

The anti-Jameis crowd is mind-boggling.

So let Joe get this straight: Because of a free food hook-up gone bad in college, America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, is to be stripped of his civil liberty to grocery shop?

That seemed to be the outrage from a narrator of a video on Yahoo! Sports, aghast that Jameis shops for himself in grocery stores, or is actually allowed by state authorities to enter a grocery store.

Apparently, after the Bucs lost Sunday, Jameis, still wearing his sharp gray suit, stopped at a Publix on the way home and posed for pictures with Bucs fans. They were only too eager to Twitter out how a young man just eight months removed from signing a $26 million contract still shops for himself instead of paying an acolyte to go get grub for him.

Frankly, Joe thinks it is awfully cool that Jameis is just like you or Joe, shopping at Publix on the way home from work. Jameis is a man of the people.

But now, someone whose name Joe couldn’t quite make out on the video (see below) was unnerved by it all, appalled that Jameis goes to the store by himself — wearing a suit no less! — and might have bought crab legs, though there is no evidence of that.

The horror!!!

Look, Publix damn near owns the grocery market in the state of Florida, honey. Clearly you haven’t spent much time in Florida or you would know this.

Where is Jameis supposed to go if not Publix for food, to Walmart on a Sunday night and deal with that freak show while wearing a suit? Joe’s going to guess this same chick wouldn’t even stoop to lower herself to drive into a Walmart parking lot much less enter one.

This is why Joe refers to Jameis as “America’s Quarterback.” The dude just does normal, everyday ordinary things all of us do, and for reasons unclear, they blow up on social media. The nation is captivated by Jameis.

Jameis opens a car door for a lovely lady like any gentleman would, and the Facebook freaks.

Someone buys Jameis crab legs for his draft party, and he thanks the person who bought the gift, just like all of our mothers taught us to do when we were children, and Instagram grinds to a halt.

Jameis shows up at a night club with shorts, where slacks are required, and Twitter nearly shuts down.

Now, Jameis shops at Publix in a suit coming home from work and social media sizzles.

Joe is almost convinced Jameis is the first NFL social media superstar. Oh, Tom Brady may get more traffic when goes to a basketball game or a horse race, but that’s about it. Maybe.

Jameis only needs to step out of One Buc Palace for anything, and — BOOM! — the internet goes wild.

As for the chick at Yahoo! Sports aghast that the State of Florida allows Jameis to grocery shop for himself, Joe has only the following to say:

Get a life!

So FOX News traffics in the War on Christmas and Jason Whitlock (and others) believes there is a War on Football. Joe is now convinced that do-gooders and the easily-offended chained to cubicles in Manhattan and the Silicon Valley have fueled a War on Jameis.

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo usually shops at a Mexican grocery….Pablo likes to keep the money flowing to Pablo’s amigos….Pablo occasionally goes to Walmart….Pablo doesn’t care where Hamus shops….as long as Hamus doesn’t try to pleasure himself in the parking lot”

  2. Clodhopper Says:

LOL She acted offended he was in a suit. That’s today’s media for you. Jameis is eternally pigeon holed by the lazy bums. To me, she sounded like she was auditioning for the Huffington Post

  3. Stanglassman Says:

Yea because HufPo not Breitbart is the site most likely to stereotype black people as lazy.

  4. Tom Edrington Says:

Is that Tiki Barber in the pic with Jameis?

  5. mike Says:

    @tom.. no thats jeff gooch

  6. LargoBuc Says:

It dosent matter what people do, the narrative will be written. It is kinda funny how the media is just desperate for Jameis to screw up. I’d be surprised if Yahoo sports dosent fire that girl for putting their agenda out in the open.

  7. Chris Armstrong Says:

Insane lol. People do whatever they have to, to make money. She obviously needs clicks and, not unlike the Glazer family, Jameis is a gold mine. I don’t pay attention, for the most part, to the Tom Foolery being reported about athletes as it usually ranks down there with supermarket tabloids; however, to see such a young man handle all of this with dignity is nothing short of amazing. Get those crab legs Jaboo, it’s America, and you are America’s Quarterback.

  8. Couch Fan Says:

I actually like this kind of sillyness. The amount of stupidity that is drawn to Famous will only draw more sensible fans to Jameis.

  9. Clodhopper Says:

Stanglassman, Holy cow, did you misunderstand my statement.

Did a quick search. Looks like her name is Jenna Corrado. Pretty silly take from her. But thats the way some media seems these days. Gotta make everything bigger or more over the top than it really is.

  12. Joe Says:

    Thank you Tim.

  13. Luther Says:

I only shop at Publix. The crab legs are awesome too. The lady sounds like she needs to get a life.

Joe has to confess he’s totally addicted to their chicken tenders. It is a chore to leave there and not buy some.

You can hear the dog whistles.

  16. lightningbuc Says:

So Jameis lives in Tampa and was spotted in a Tampa Publix. Fascinating stuff! Man, journalists work hard to dig up these nuggets.

  17. lurker Says:

joe, you are a conspiracy theorist…there was nothing sinister in that video. c’mon man, toughen up. tom brady is america’s quarterback. jameis christ has nothing on brady. the only negative i see about winston’s persona is from commenters. tom brady has hate articles written about him.

i have no idea why you persist in keeping up this charade of fake attacks on winston.

  18. Buc1987 Says:

lurker….everyone and their mom could hear what she had to say and the tone of her voice while she said it. She was flabbergasted, astounded that Winston would even step foot into a Publix.

You didn’t hear that though….the rest of us did, but not you.

  19. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

I wish people would get over the events of jameis at FSU, I am a UF grad and big gator fan and love the gators cannot stand the seminoles, however, stepping back jamesi was 19/20, he did similar things to many students during college. I know of a guy who successfully walked out of an albertsons in gville with a live lobster down his pants, is it right? no but is it funny and something that is juvenile yes…and probably 90% of the people who did the immature things regret it and never do the studpid things again. Im sick of people picking on jameis and things in his past, Im glad he is here in Tampa and cannot wait for what the future holds for jameis and the bucs…hopefully minus lovie…people tend to go to publix on sundays in their best church clothes anyways, jamesi church on sunday happens to be teh football field….sick of these do gooders making way to big of deal over something stupid that he did and maybe by accident or the ol wink

  20. orlbucfan Says:

Dusthty: did that poor, scared lobster grab that clown in a tender spot with a claw? Like OUCH, big time!! My old man brought crab legs home (Publix) Sunday night–good eating, too!! Joe, this column..I still am teared up from laffing so hard. So what if Famous J hits the grocery store after work…who doesn’t? He sure sounds normal to me. Go Bucs and FJ in 2016–Champs all the way!!

  21. lurker Says:

    @1987

The tone was gossip/tmz style. It was supposed to be over-the-top. I cannot believe how sensitive you all are… Smh. Funny considering all the misogynist s here.

  22. Buccfan37 Says:

Publix prices are through the roof, hell all these grocers are gouging big time. Food became more expensive when gas was high, the reason grocers hiked their prices was stated as transportation costs. Then when the oil price fell, the grocers failed to lower prices to previous levels. That’s American capitalism for you. Gouge them until it hurts.

  23. Buccfan37 Says:

I’d love to meet Jameis shopping at Publix.

    TBBF…that’s gross man.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

lurker…that was Joe’s point of this article. Another example as to why he calls JW America’s QB.

I’m not defending the kid, when there’s no need to anymore. Joe and others are right though when it comes to the silliness that goes on in the media over this kid.

Over the top? Yes it was.

  28. DMAD1 Says:

Thanks Joe for posting this!!! I didn’t think that you would. Yeah some people just can’t let things go. So happy Jameis is making all these critics look stupid
    GO BUCCS

  29. chris Says:

Quite frankly, I love that he poses for pictures with fans. Ran into Keyshawn at a toy store in a mall, told my wife hey look it’s Keyshawn. …..dude gave me the worst glare…..even my wife said….look like he wanted to fight you….didn’t approach him.Major d….k…….Sapp same way.

  30. Johnny "America's Commenter" Dejay Says:

Are there any people still at war with Jameis Winston? I thought everyone had turned their weapons to Gerald McCoy or Mike Evans. Winston has been such a solid citizen that there’s been nothing for anyone to gripe about.

  31. lurker Says:

There is nothing. Joe just likes to make something outta nothing to bandy his “America’s qb” shtick. We all know that Tom Brady is America’s qb, even by joe’s definition. There are other qb’s more hated/despised in this league than jameis christ. There are some followers here that are easily brainwashed and see joe’s conspiracies.

  32. Buc1987 Says:

Thank the lord I have Joe to think for me. It’s tough being so easily brainwashed.

  33. lurker Says:

you are a republican, too. 😉
