“I Don’t Want To Hear About Them Being Desperate; We’re Desperate”

September 25th, 2015

Lovie22

Lovie Smith put his proverbial foot down this afternoon at One Buc Palace.

He’s tired of hearing talk of the 0-2 Texans with their backs against the wall, a team on the brink desperate for a win against the Bucs on Sunday.

“I don’t want to hear about them being desperate; We’re desperate,” Lovie said.

The head coach emphasized that “no one wants to win any more than we do,” and he stressed that the Bucs franchise hasn’t been over .500 for too long. To be exact, the 2012 New Schiano Order jumped out to a stunning 6-4 record before collapsing and losing five consecutive games, including a 41-0 December torching in New Orleans.

“There’s a lot on the line for us this week,” Lovie said.

Joe agrees with Lovie. Every game is huge when your regime is riding a 3-15 run. And it’s especially big when you’re facing a very winnable game. The Texans have plenty of issues and a shaky quarterback.

What a very compitent thing to say… Surprising.

  2. Couch Fan Says:

    competent*

  3. Larry Says:

I was thinking the same thing.

  4. Cream3636 Says:

What makes him incompetent? Don’t do that. You sound real ignorant.

  5. bucsbedabest Says:

There is a lot riding on this game. All the love will turn back to hate. On paper it sure appears the Buccaneers should win this game. IMO if the Bucs lose it will be because they beat themselves. Blow a 4th quarter lead, to many penalties or turnovers.

Well right off the top of my head I remember statements like, “Real football doesnt start til November.” Or, “We felt no good could come of scoring” while trailing right before halftime.

Was actually a compliment. Perhaps you should think before posting so you dont sound so ignorant…

  7. "that guy" Says:

how about when we lose and he says. “we did some good things today”

  8. Buccfan37 Says:

Damn right Lovie, we’re desperate. I wonder who Lovie is referring to hearing talk about who is the most desperate. 0-2 is a bit more desperate than 1-1. We win, the Texans are even more desperate. Real desperation sets in.

  9. kh Says:

    “We’re not Tennessee ready”

  10. Brion Says:

I’m not sure “ignorant” is a valid insult on a football blog site

  11. DefenseRules Says:

I’m sure that Lovie would much prefer to go into the Panthers game with a 2-1 record than with a 1-2 record. Two wins in a row would establish some much-needed momentum.

  12. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

3636 you gotta get to know my pal couch. He was being complimentary. Trust me.

  13. Lakeland Buc Says:

We need 10 more wins to reach my prediction, I say we get there.

  14. The Buc Realist Says:

My favorite is when his defense does not work it is always because of missed assignments!!!

  15. ATrain Says:

Best thing Lovie has said yet…

Stop saying we did a few good things..

We are desperate. Now KICK SOME A$$

  16. Skyline Crew Says:

We lost to a bad Titans team. We beat a bad Saints team. Now we play a Texans team who is thin in offense and pretty good at D. This will be our first real test for our offense.

  17. Kevin Schmidt Says:

Thats the funny thing about this team….they win and or play well in the games you’d expect them to lose in….and play like crap in the games you’d expect they can win ( Week 1 ). Lets hope that trend has been put to bed!!!

  18. Ray Rice Says:

FUK that. I don’t want to hear about beating a bad team. You can only say that when your team is good and they beat a bad team. The YUCS are far from good or being a contender. After losing for so many seasons I will gladly keep celebrating every victory they get. No matter who the FUK they play.

“What makes him incompetent? Don’t do that. You sound real ignorant.”

You are misquoting him. He said “competent”, not “incompetent.”

  20. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

On topic, dang right we are desperate. Anyone look at the injury report???

    We may well be screwed.

Our starting center is doubtful. Our best DT is doubtful. Jenkins is obviously out. And Major Wright is doubtful.

This would be a great week to try Marpet at center…because we don’t have anyone nearly good enough to fill in for Smith (can’t believe I’m saying that). Except maybe Warren, who is good enough to run block (which we actually need this week).

  21. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @Kevin Schmidt

    Easy to blame the team.

Or maybe it’s the person guessing which games are wins and which are losses?

I never thought they would win week one.

  22. BucsFan85 Says:

Bonzai what did you think about Joe Hawley? He is slated to start.

  23. BucsFan85 Says:

Funny, the few times we have won lately have happened when I had to work. (I work every other Sunday) On the Sundays I work, I record the game, and watch it later in the evening. BTW hate it when people try to spoil the game for me. I went all day last Sunday not listening to the radio at work and avoiding every football fan that I knew in hopes of not having it spoiled, and then I get home and my drunk neighbor says GO BUCS!! LOL. Well at least we won and it wasn’t “Dang Tampa lost again”

  24. Lakeland Buc Says:

Joe Hawley started 11 games at center and he started 12 games at guard for the Falcons. He played good for the Falcons, but he was injured and the Falcons released him. He played in 57 games for the Falcons, he have experience in Dirk Koetter offense. That’s why Koetter brought him here, I think he will do good.

  25. Dave Says:

Somebody please explain the Lovie Smith hate ?
The guy has two bad seasons as a head coach. Take those away and his win % is pretty damn high. Even so, he is over .500.
He took a team to the SB with no QB.
His defenses have been outstanding for a decade.
He gives up control of the offense to people who know what up do (unlike Dungy).
Players love the guy and want to play for him.
He is rebuilding. Year 1 was last year and was basically used to see what they had as far as personal. Year 2, now, the base of the roster is set. Next year the pieces get filled and they are playoff bound.
I just don’t get the hate.

  26. DallasBuc Says:

Incompetent Lovie Smith sure was desperate last week and played like it. For a 2-17 team that was shamefully obliterated at home in the season opener and the mounting calls for his replacement there is no question that the Saints game was truly desperation. That division road victory, which at moments looked like was slipping away, gave breathing room to Incompetent Lovie Smith as well as oxygen to a victory deprived fan base. A single win after so much losing has made all of us feel so much better. Going into the Texans game I think it is more important that Incompetent Lovie Smith field a competetive product, especially on defense, than that we come out with the win. The win will be huge of course but playing competetive football for me is the biggest thing I need to see in order to start building confidence in this disappointment of a head coach.

  27. Warren Says:

This game is all on our D. Titans D-line ain’t no joke with Watt and Clowney. Clowney is looking almost unmovable/unblockable at times and we all know what Watt can do. So our D has to dominate this game including possibly scoring. Real Bucball

  28. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Good to see you Animosity Amigos team leader dallas. Got those reasons as to why the Texans lost already swirling in your mind I suppose huh. God bless ya buddie incompetent drafted an American Bad A$$ one in which will be making him look really good for a really long time dude. WINSton a.k.a the. Animosity Amigos silencer. Y’all days of talking spit bout my HC are numbered bright guy.😀

  29. DallasBuc Says:

Nole- not sure what you are talking about with excuses for why Texans lost but I hope you are right about Incompetent Lovie Smith silencing my criticism. That would mean he has my Bucs prepared to compete on a consistent basis, his defense doesn’t look like soggy toilet paper getting peed through and maybe, just maybe, he can produce more than 2 wins in 16 tries. He already took my criticism of the QB position off the table by drafting Winston. Now let’s field a competetive product so I can drop the “Incompetent” moniker. I would love nothing more bright guy!

  30. Dreambig Says:

Dave, Its not that hard to see why people are skeptical about Lovie. We were the worst team in football last year. The very bottom. How many of Lovie’s free agents from last year worked out? How many were over priced disasters? Lovie lost his OC to a health issue in the very beginning of the year and what did he do about it? Turned the offense over to a assistant coach from college with no NFL experience and no coordinator experinece at any level. He never adjusted, he never took any action to keep the ship from sinkiing. He took an average offensive line, dismantled it and made it worse. Then to start this year, after months to prepare, his team shows up on opening day totally unprepared to play. The game was literally over in less than 5 minutes.
I love that we ended up getting Jameis and I hope he makes the difference for this team but so far Lovie has a long way to go to gain the confidence of the fan base. I was one who thought the Animosity Amigos were a bit too negitive coming into the season, but after that opening day disaster they seem to be more right than wrong. Hopefully we win tomorrow and Lovie gains back a bit of credibility but up to now he surely has not demonstrated that he knows what he is doing. We should win this week, but I would not be surprised to see the team come out totally flat and get their a*s handed to them again.

    @Dreambig:

    Excellent post, sir.

  32. MTM Says:

Finally a statement from Smith that makes sense. Now the team needs to come out and kick the Texans in the mouth. None of the slow bull* hit Buc ball. Be aggressive on offense and make Houston have to pass the ball to catch up.

  33. Skyline Crew Says:

No, a bad team is a bad team whether or not your team is. Saints are a bottom 5 team this year.

  34. Matt Says:

Exactly why shouldn’t we deserve too win? We’re desperate too .

  35. bucsbedabest Says:

Lovie Smith is 84-78 519%. He has won his division 3 times, the NFC once and been to the Super Bowl. It is impossible to call him incompetent based on his NFL record alone. You can be skeptical and critical all you want but incompetent.

ie – Not having or showing the necessary skills to do something successfully.

Lovie is a successful coach in the NFL as his record indicated. The next person who calls Lovie incompetent is disrespecting yourself by indicating to all on this site that you are uneducated and have no knowledge or understanding of the English language. Thank you.
