“Leadership Won’t Allow That”

November 26th, 2013

Greg Schiano added Donald Penn to his list of leaders when speaking yesterday

Greg Schiano had great praise for his veteran leadership last night on WDAE-AM 620. Typically, Schiano references his five captains, but on this day two other names got into the mix: Donald Penn and Darrelle Revis.

There’s video evidence here of Penn and Revis leading. If you listen closely to Revis, you can hear him counseling Johnthan Banks to remember he has the height and a “7-foot” wingspan to cover Calvin Johnson, so “go be a hero.”

Schiano said, “Penn has done such a great job, as far as leading our guys.”

Schiano also talked about how “close” the Bucs have grown over the past months.

Regarding the Bucs’ 13 players on injured reserve and lost for the season, that’s where Schiano had the highest praise for his leaders on the roster. “Leadership won’t allow that to be an issue.”

I wonder? How many pressures & sacks have Donald Penn been responsible for this year?–IMHO Taylor Lewan 2014 1st round Draft Pick

If we do not take a QB in the draft, I would like to see us take a RT or WR, whichever is BPA.

RT is the hardest spot on the oline to fill with a quality player. I would try to find a LT later in the draft for backup.

Guard would be nice too, but we have other spots to address on defense.

Some, such as the author and host here at JBF have backed off their clamor for drafting another QB, while others are slow to grasp the situation.

  4. Tim Says:

LT, RT, DE and TE would be our biggest needs in the upcoming draft. But we don’t know what free agency is going to bring or the combine.

thats why I believe if Schiano doesn’t end up getting fired, we need to keep this group together for as long as possible. going 0-8 and then rebounding from that does wonders for the mentality of a team. they’ve experienced the lowest of the lows, and now are going to do whatever it takes not to have that experience ever again. so maybe some good can be taken away from this season.

Let’s see how he does over a period of years. If Glennon is consistent over a period of years, then folks will join the Glennon Mob, Gathering, or whatever you all (Glennites) are calling yourselves at any given moment. Reserving judgment is just that, reserving judgment; nothing wrong with that given this franchise’s long history of misses, giving up on players/not utilizing players properly at the QB position.
