With the addition of veteran cornerback Mike Jenkins yesterday, Joe started thinking about the state of the Bucs’ crop of cornerbacks.
Yeah, it’s early, but are they deep enough or good enough? Here’s a look:

A little known piece of Bucs history was revealed today on WDAE-AM 620; Bucs offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford could have (and maybe should have) been a Buccaneer in 1996.
Father Dungy said on the Ron and Ian show that he tried to hire Tedford for his inaugural staff in ’96, but he couldn’t convince him to reunite in Tampa with one of his prized college students, Trent Dilfer. [read more]

In a move that Joe saw coming years ago, former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik has moved on to a new career. Released by Team Glazer following the recent 4-12 2013 season, Dominik will now offer NFL insider analysis and insight for the four-letter, per Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune. Dominik, per Cummings, signed a one-year pact.
Dominik will be used by the four-letter in all sorts of platforms, including TV, radio and the Internet. He begins his new gig right away. [read more]
One selling point in the recent sales marathon at One Buc Palace was noted by Bucs general manager Jason Licht. He expressed that free agents have so much respect for head coach Lovie Smith. One player who isn’t in that club is Donald Penn.
New Bucs tight end Brandon Myers is hardly a talent familiar to Tampa Bay fans, especially those who don’t play fantasy football. But it’s time Bucs fans get used to him.

Joe’s hardly a fan of Todd McShay and helmet hair Mel Kiper, the BSPN draft gurus. Joe respects Kiper’s career accomplishments and, yes, these guys put in year-round effort on the draft, but their work is suspect at best compared to Mike Mayock and many of their draft-guru colleagues.
However, that’s not to say Kiper and McShay don’t have excellent sources and access to NFL decision-makers. [read more]
For those who monitor prickly Pete Prisco, of CBS Sports, on Twitter, you know the guy is a bitter dude. Angry. Snarling. Sometimes, Joe doesn’t know if prickly Pete can crack a smile.
So to get prickly Pete to throw rose pedals of respect to an NFL team is quite an accomplishment. That’s what Bucs general manager Jason Light got. Prickly Pete is so pleased with Licht’s work the past week or so, prickly Pete gave Licht and the Bucs an A-grade for free agency. [read more]
