The Simmering Switch To Mike Glennon

September 15th, 2014

GlennonjagsHumor Joe and take the names off the backs of the Bucs quarterbacks jerseys for a minute.

The veteran, No. 12, is a 35-year-old who has never started a full and successful NFL season. And he’s making dumb mistakes leading his 0-2 football team.

On the bench is a 24-year-old QB who Tampa Bay bosses insist is the “quarterback of the future.” [read more]

Joe & Chris Fischer Wrap The Loss On The Field

September 15th, 2014

joemugshotJoe’s not much of a TV guy, but Joe’s always happy to work with WTSP-TV, Ch. 10 sports anchor Chris Fischer.

Joe (one of the Joe’s) left the sad postgame locker room and got on the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway field after Sunday’s heinous loss to the Rams to talk all things Bucs.

Enjoy.

Lovie: I Didn’t Want To Put Points On The Board

September 14th, 2014

LovieMcCown

Right before the half, I didn’t want to put more points on the board. I didn’t feel like we could, only thing that could happen was something bad then.– Lovie Smith on why he didn’t run a play with 11 seconds left in the first half from the Buccaneers’ 40 yard line, despite multiple timeouts available. Un-Special Teams

Lovie Smith’s special teams coach and guru Kevin O’Dea has work to do

It was ugly out there today on special teams for the Bucs, one of the worst special teams performances in the post-Chucky era.

First, Major Wright choked and whiffed big time on a punt block of Michael Koenen. Joe’s got the video evidence. [read more]

Anthony Collins Feels Your Pain

September 14th, 2014
Bucs LT Anthony Collins was so enraged about tonight's loss, he was overcome with emotion in the locker room.

Bucs LT Anthony Collins was so enraged about tonight’s loss, he was overcome with emotion in the locker room.

Joe came away impressed with one thing and one thing only tonight after the Bucs suffered a hammer-to-the-nads loss to a never-been third string quarterback and the Lambs.

For as PO’ed as you, you diehard Bucs fans are right now, and rightfully so, so too is left tackle Anthony Collins.

First off, Collins has lived up to high expectations. In two games for the Bucs, he had gone up against Greg Hardy and Robert Quinn, two of the best the NFL has to offer.

Is The Offensive Line Fixed?

September 14th, 2014

Oline

It sure seems like the stench of the Buccaneers’ preseason is now a flowery fragrance.

Yes, the Tampa Bay offensive line isn’t the problem any longer. They even looked a tiny bit better than average today. [read more]

Bucs Playoff Chances At 12 Percent

September 14th, 2014

cowardly lionMan, Joe doesn’t know if he is angry, depressed or mournful over today’s kick-in-the-nuts loss to a never-been third string quarterback and a Cowardly Lion approach to scoring.

Look, the Bucs had a massive height advantage with their Dunkaneers receivers over the puny Lambs cornerbacks, yet for some reason on third downs, the Bucs would rather try to run sweeps at Robert Quinn. [read more]

Bucs Are A Beat Up Football Team

September 14th, 2014

red cross

Joe always thought playing on the road for Thursday Night Football is overblown in that coaches will often tell you there is not enough time to prepare.

The Bucs showed that is a wive’s tale two years ago when they traveled to Minnesota for a Thursday night match-up with the Vikings and just about blew the baggy roof off its foundation, boat-racing the Vikings. [read more]

Bobby Rainey Was Dominant; Martin Out?

September 14th, 2014

Jiminy Christmas, the Tampa Bay offense was awfully predictable today. The Bucs ran Bobby Rainey left and right, and rarely up the gut.

Third down? No problem. It was Rainey time. Even with all that predictable pounding of Rainey, the Rams didn’t slow him down much. [read more]

Bucs In Full Blown Freefall Mode

September 14th, 2014

big nasty

Damn it to hell, Joe thought it was embarrassing enough to get carved up the likes of Derek Anderson last week with the Stinking Panthers. It couldn’t think it could get much worse than that. Right?

It does! Today, the Bucs lost to the Lambs with a friggin’ third string quarterback, the immortal Austin Davis. Austin Davis, sounds like some benchwarmer for Duke’s basketball team. [read more]

Jeff Tedford Talks To Joe

September 14th, 2014
jeff tedford 0911

After the loss to the Rams this evening, Bucs OC Jeff Tedford told Joe he doesn’t know when he will resume full-time duties

Joe was bombarded before and during the game today. No, Bucs fans didn’t want to know the status of Lambs quarterback Shaun Hill or the status of Bucs running back Doug Martin or the cell number for a random Bucs cheerleader (Joe doesn’t have such a cell phone number).

The most popular question Joe got was whether Jeff Tedford was calling plays for the Bucs Sunday. It was as if the game against the Lambs was secondary. [read more]

Waving The White Flag

September 14th, 2014

If a team doesn’t trust its quarterback, then it has little shot at success. That’s just NFL Reality 101.

So what the heck was Lovie Smith thinking just before halftime, and on multiple occasions in the second half when he wouldn’t let Josh McCown throw the ball on sure third-down passing situations? [read more]

Lambs At Bucs, Open Thread

September 14th, 2014

buccaneers cheerleader 0914

Joe doesn’t believe in “must-wins” in September. But if the Bucs want to sniff the playoffs this year, now might be the time for a win.

Isn’t it about time the Bucs make another team pay for starting some slug at quarterback? Isn’t it time for the Bucs to make people pay for triple-teaming Gerald McCoy instead of break dancing for offensive tackles? Isn’t time Josh McCown look like a starting NFL quarterback?

Bang it here all game long for the Lambs-Bucs game in steamy Tampa. Go Bucs!

Written Test, “Piss Test” Among Saturday Rituals

Your Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be tested by the Rams today, but they also were drilled the day before the game.

The Bucs don’t get a day off on Saturday when they play on Sunday. They’re at the Tampa team hotel living and working and sticking to an 11 p.m. curfew. [read more]
