There were no pads on last night at the Bucs’ first practice of training camp, in a driving rain at the University of South Florida, but offensive linemen are still encouraged to get in the way of a pass rusher and engage the guy. [read more]
As you know by now, the Bucs delayed, rescheduled, cancelled and then relocated their first training camp practice to the University of South Florida this evening. The driving rain really makes it almost unfair to judge practice, but the Bucs were extraordinarily sloppy — far too sloppy. Here are a chunk of Joe’s observations from the sidelines. [read more]

For the paranoid crowd that believes if the Bucs miss one practice in the first week of training camp due to inclement weather, it will cost them a Super Bowl, Joe has calming words — spoken by the leader of the Bucs, coach Lovie Smith. [read more]

The genesis of this notion that the Bucs need an indoor practice facility to be able to get to the playoffs is lost on Joe.
But tonight, when the Bucs moved their first training camp practice to the campus of the University of South Florida and its turf fields under the lights, it proved to Joe that if anything, the Bucs need to practice in a rain a helluva lot more. [read more]
