Joe saw this for the first time yesterday courtesy of a reader. It’s Bucs head man Lovie Smith talking about Johnny Football. (more…)

At 6-7, 280 pounds with next to no fat on him, new Bucs tight end Steve Maneri can’t help but stand out in the Bucs locker room.
It’s easy to see how he had no problem bulking up and playing tackle for the Texans, Patriots and Chiefs before switching back to tight end in Kansas City, where he took great pride in his 2012 role. (more…)
Joe knows when the Bucs signed Mike Jenkins it ended a years-long crusade of many Bucs fans to have the Pewter Pirates obtain his rights.
Joe never understood why. The guy had a chequered career with the Cowboys, probably more bad than good, though Jenkins’ good was pretty good, albeit brief. (more…)
There’s a reason the Bucs didn’t look like a brand new offense with a free agent quarterback during their first practices under the Lovie Smith regime this week.
That’s because the entire offense — yes, everybody — was together multiple times on local ball fields between the time Lovie and Jeff Tedford passed out playbooks on April 7 and the opening minicamp on Tuesday, which was the first time coaches could work with players outside of meeting rooms.
Practices are allowed by the NFL if players gather on their own time — at their own location. The unquestioned leader of the Bucs offense, Josh McCown, is single-handedly driving the team to beat the learning curve of their offense, much like the Bears offense did with first-year coach/offensive guru Marc Trestman last year. (more…)
On Tuesday, Joe had a chance, along with other members of the Tampa Bay pen and mic club, to get inside the Bucs locker room and speak with many players who were not getting taped up or tending to some type of trainers needs or other football-related responsibilities. (more…)
Joe wonders what has happened to Greg Schiano’s bullhorn?
Joe had been looking for a stark contrast, something obvious, that he could write about showing the difference between the New Schiano Order and the calm demeanor of new Bucs coach Lovie Smith.
Schiano will forever be famous in Bucs lore for the first time his Bucs-led team took a practice field. The stretching that always precedes practices had just begun when Schiano’s booming voice could be heard bouncing off the south exterior walls of One Buc Palace, “Toes on the line!” (more…)
Appearing very relaxed after the ousting of Greg Schiano — on Twitter and in the locker room –Bucs tight end Tom Crabtree is back to his old self under the new Lovie Smith regime. His unpredictable sense of humor has returned.
Joe caught up to Crabtree yesterday and he got a little defensive about his tattoos, as you’ll see in the video below. Crabtree was on the field for this week’s three day minicamp but coaches didn’t have him do much as his bicep is still rehabbing. (Enjoy this exclusive JoeBucsFan.com locker room video. It can only be posted for 24 hours)
Thanks to the NFL and Buccaneers.
One thing that blew Joe’s mind about the greatness of Lavonte David was him calling defensive plays as a rookie, and playing like a madman on the field, literally everywhere the ball was.
Well, under Lovie Smith’s defense, the weakside linebacker no longer calls defensive plays. That responsibility has been handed off to middle linebacker Mason Foster. (more…)
The leader of Lovieball, veteran head coach Lovie Smith, addressed the media this afternoon to talk about the past three days of practice. You can catch every second of the audio below via WDAE-AM 620.
Lovie talks about all kinds of topics, including his take on the schedule, Da’Quan Bowers, Mike Jenkins and so much more. Grab a cold one and listen.
When Demar Dotson stands up, he is one large man. Part of that is the Bucs offensive right tackle stands a whopping 6-9, 315. He’s a friggin’ billboard.
Dotson, one of the nicest guys Joe has ever dealt with, is also the last man standing from the 2013 offensive line. Gone is Donald Penn. Gone is Ted Larsen. Gone is Jeremy Zuttah. Gone is Davin Joseph. Carl Nicks remains in toe purgatory, relegated to watching practice from the sidelines. (more…)
Jiminy Christmas! Lovie Smith was talking today like Jeff Demps has a roster spot locked up Jeff Tedford will be scolded if he can’t find ways to unleash Demps’ Olympic speed on the NFC South.
Joe’s exaggerating, but when Joe asked Lovie today what he thought about the guy he dubbed “the fastest man in the NFL,” Lovie didn’t hold back his excitement. (more…)
Mason Foster planned to feast at the Buccaneers team barbecue right after practice today, but that’s out of the norm for him.
Foster is leaner and says he’s faster as a result. Right after the Super Bowl, Foster vowed to change his eating habits and looked for an OK from Bucs coaches. (more…)
Gerald McCoy appeared this morning on what sometimes is a terrible show, NFL Network’s “NFL AM.” When that show is co-hosted by that empty-head Nicole Zaloumis, she totally drags the show down to an unwatchable level. All she wants to talk about is friggin’ dancing. Otherwise, she rarely opens her trap.
At least with traffic-stopping hottie Molly Qerim, she knows football and is an asset to the show (in more ways than one). (more…)
Yes while Joe is in the back of One Buc Palace watching the Pewter Pirates practice this afternoon, Joe thought he would offer up to his readers a pleasant way to burn a few minutes of their always-too-long afternoon at work.

The Bucs won’t trade Mike Glennon after drafting a rookie quarterback says the new captain of the anti-Johnny-Football Mob, Shaun King, the former Bucs QB and current NBC Sports and Yahoo! Sports analyst.
King likes the tranquility Glennon could provide as a third quarterback on the Bucs roster. (more…)
When the NFL schedule was about to be announced, many pundits figured there was a lot of interest in the Bucs-Bears game because of Lovie Smith.
The new Bucs coach is here, in part, because he was jettisoned by the Bears nearly two seasons ago after the gall to win 10 games. (more…)
Enjoy this exclusive video from the Buccaneers locker room with punt returner/kick returner Eric Page, complete with footage from the Bucs’ opening minicamp this week.
Page has been getting lots of action with the first team receivers, as well, a fact Joe had trouble spitting out in the video. Watch it now. NFL rules won’t allow Joe to show this more than 24 hours. Enjoy.
Thanks to the Buccaneers and the NFL.
Lovie Smith has prepared for many dangerous, multi-talented quarterbacks in his days as a linebackers coach, defensive coordinator and head coach.
And one top draft guru thinks that perspective of the game helps make Johnny Football a likely target of the Bucs. (more…)
So what do quarterbacks visiting the Bucs, whether they be tryout players or Johnny Football or Teddy Bridgewater, actually do at One Buc Palace?
Of course, Joe doesn’t have all the answers, but it seems Aaron Rodgers’ 2005 Pro Day from “Cal” has been resurrected. (more…)
Joe dives into the popular Ron and Ian show this morning on WDAE-AM 620/95.3 FM. It’s always a fun time with hosts Ron Diaz and former Bucs guard Ian Beckles. Tune in, or listen live at 620wdae.com.
When Joe had a chance to talk one-on-one with Bucs new coach Lovie Smith at the NFL Combine, Lovie emphasized how Doug Martin will be his bellcow back but that doesn’t mean Bobby Rainey and Mike James won’t get any touches. (more…)
Bucs DE Adrian Clayborn will be an unrestricted free agent after this season, if not re-signed by the Bucs.
The speculation is now fact. The Bucs will not exercise the fifth-year option of Bucs defensive end Adrian Clayborn, as reported by Greg Auman and Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times yesterday afternoon.
Clayborn’s first three season were largely marred by an ugly knee injury and lack of sacks, which is not a great combination. Had the Bucs picked up his option, it would have meant a windfall for Clayborn of $6.96 million in 2015. (more…)
