Morning Cup Of Joe

November 3rd, 2026

Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.

Distraction of the Day

Is Von Miller indirectly calling out Jerry Jones? [PFT]

Are the Jets going to host a fire sale this week? Should they? [CBS]

Browns-Steelers may be the most underrated rivalry in the NFL. Those teams despise each other, and have for 60 years. [Yahoo!]

Top 36 takeaways from Week 8. [NFL]

Travis Kelce unloads on teammates for stupid penalties. He’s not wrong. Illegal procedure cost the Chiefs a win Sunday. Had the game-winning score wiped off. [Outkick]

Saint Lamar Jackson is out for a month. At least. It’s fair to guess that he won’t get to a Super Bowl this year. Once again. Is it too early to label him overrated? Sure, you could say the same for Josh Allen. But man, the way people fall to their knees weeping and moaning over Jackson whenever his name is mentioned, you’d think the guy has six rings. Remember: Baker Mayfield (2-3) has a better playoff winning percentage than Jackson (3-5). [Front Office Sports]

More chatter that the NFL could get rid of Sunday Ticket (due to legal issues) but instead, sell all games to cable networks and be like college football where every game that is played will be nationally televised somewhere. For example, every B1G and SEC game played you can watch if you so desire. Every one of those games are on some cable channel or broadcast network. The NFL would basically just copy that method. [Awful Announcing]

Michael Wilbon steps aside from his BSPN duties due to serious health issues. Says he doesn’t know when he will be back, if he comes back. Vows that he’s not retiring. [Sports Media Watch]

Dabo Swinney mocks Florida State for an “embarrassing” flyover calling for Mike Norvell’s head on a platter, which happened less than 24 hours later. Not quite as embarrassing as what Norvell did to one of America’s top football programs. Worst record in the ACC in last two years. That’s pretty tough to do. Now *that* is “embarrassing.” [Sport and State]

Jackson is over rated and, adored for mostly non football reasons. The current coach of the giants the better of the,Harbaugh brothers admitted he drafted,Jackson mainly to prove a Socio-politico-economic point not a football point. What any NFL expert wil! Tell us is running QBs don’t last very long. If the Buccaneers continue to task Baker with handing the ball off primarily he,will be fresh when he needs to pass and it will extend his career.

Florida is a snowboard and retiree state. Everyone has,a favorite team out of market so that will be good for them for the NFL to imitate,College.

    1. What is the legal problem?
The lawsuit centers on three allegations:

    A. Restricting competition

The NFL requires its 32 teams to pool their television rights. It then sells packages of games collectively rather than allowing competing companies to bid independently for individual teams’ out-of-market broadcasts.

    B. Exclusivity

From 2011 through 2022, the NFL gave DirecTV exclusive distribution rights to Sunday Ticket.

That meant consumers couldn’t shop among competing providers for the same package.

    C. Inflated prices

Subscribers argued that the NFL deliberately restricted competition, allowing DirecTV to charge substantially more than it would have charged in a competitive marketplace.

The lawsuit argues this violated federal antitrust laws, particularly Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act.

    Mark Mark, proof read.
I haven’t seen anyone use a snowboard down here.

Yes, there are a lot of retirees, especially in pretty much every del Webb community in Sun City center but for the most part they like the beach communities.
They’re almost 300 public schools in Hillsborough county. 70 charter schools in like 90 private schools, so a lot of young families move down here as well. The trick is everyone keeps moving here so you have a lot of Northern tean fans moving down here still rooting for their team from their crap Northern home city. I love it when I meet someone who’s an Eagles, New York Giants or Patriots fan and they’re a fan because of some Uncle liking the teams or they jumped on the band wagon cause the team was good when they became a fan but they’ve never lived in that city. That’s totally pathetic. I find it pretty stupid not to root for the home team at that point. My family goes back quite a few generations in Tampa Bay and I’ve only rooted for Tampa Bay teams and an Orlando team or two. I’ve seen people transition from being a fan of some Northern team to start rooting for the local teams, so it’s definitely something one can do, they just have to want to.

    For today’s FAFO moment

This video says so much about modern policing in urban areas, the legal framework that makes it difficult for officers, and the politics around these issues.
