Six Teams That “Should Call” For Vita Vea
July 28th, 2026Vita Vea is a commodity, one that asked for a trade out of One Buc Palace yesterday.
It’s a sad state of affairs for Bucs fans. Vea was a fan favorite for eight years. He’s delivered special moments and he’s a unique player in Tampa Bay history.
But do the Bucs really want to try and salvage a relationship with an aging, disgruntled veteran who thought his best move was to demand he be dealt on the eve of training camp? Joe doesn’t think so. When’s the last time that has worked out for a team.
ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky, the former Bucs QB, thinks the Bucs should make another run at keeping vea.
“For Tampa’s sake, I hope they don’t let him out of the locker room. I think Tampa’s a contender,” Orlovsky told The Pat McAfee Show. “I think you do everything you can to try to keep him.”
That said, Orlovsky said there should be a hot market for Vea. He said Buffalo, Baltimore, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit and the Chargers should already have picked up the phone.
If Orlovsky is on point, Joe thinks that means the Bucs could land a second-round pick for Vea, even if they have to send along a fifth-rounder to make that happen.

My question is, Who fills the DT this season when or if Vita leaves?
July 28th, 2026 at 5:15 pm
These last few training camps have been rough
July 28th, 2026 at 5:18 pm
Bucs should trade him, but the Bucs should have extended Baker. Bowles is a below average NFL head coach and is not going to take a team deep into the playoffs so they may as well build up some draft capital for Zach Robinson or whomever ends being the next head coach.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:18 pm
Trade him. Over 30, past his prime, often injured, part-time player. No eay he’s worth 20m to the Bucs, now or in ’27
July 28th, 2026 at 5:24 pm
He’s first rd pick quality easy if we get a 2nd I would consider it a major loss
July 28th, 2026 at 5:27 pm
I would not trade Vea. Much much to valuable to the team especially this year. This may turn out to be an awful year in TB. Defense has enough problems.
Nope not a good idea. Shame on the Organization for creating all this drama early. Not very savvy in my opinion.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:33 pm
Trade him. Don’t let him walk out the door without getting something meaningful in return. Knowing Licht, he’ll mess it up thoroughly.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:37 pm
I’m starting to think these guys are wanting to jump ship because a lot of cash is tied up in performance incentives, like sacks, tackles and wining playoff games. I don’t know the details of his current contract, but his base salary is below current market salary for a player of his caliber but with the incentives he probably does well. However, if your HC has a win/loss percentage worse than Lovie Smith, you are probably thinking I need to get the hell off this team while I can. Remember, the Glazer boys don’t cough up a lot of guaranteed money and they get away with it with JL negotiating performance incentive laden contracts. Tom Brady was the last player to get guaranteed money, because he is Tom Brady and the revenue he brings alone based on his name is totally worth it.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:39 pm
2 3rd round picks and a db off the roster from whoever they can trade him to.
Don’t trust their 2nd round picks at all, 3rd round has been pretty good for Licht.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:41 pm
I don’t understand so many thinking he is soooo valuable to he team. Are there any starting Bucs defenders that with fewer snap? League wise are there any starting defensive tackles with fewer snaps?
July 28th, 2026 at 5:42 pm
Sure does smell like the owners are hedging their bets for the future – no deal for Bake & Vea when just two years ago they were re-upping Zyon early?????
They don’t think Todd is going to succeed, they just promised him one last chance…the writing is on the wall…and not on any sizeable long-term contracts!
The new regime will have the chance to pick their own QB and not be tied to long term deals for aging vets…
July 28th, 2026 at 5:45 pm
If someone offers a 2nd rd pick take it. I thought he was worth a third rd pick. He’s disgruntled and wants to leave. He’s been a part time player for some time now. I want to point out he was a Captain last year. Vea was loafing others were taking plays off. When your veteran leadership doesn’t give a damn. Then those guys need to go and honestly. The headcoach should be sat down and have some explaining to.do.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:45 pm
So they want more money?…. I want cheaper tickets!
July 28th, 2026 at 5:47 pm
Consider this…is this team close to a SB? No. We should be getting assets for the next GM and coach. This season is a joke and the Glazers are to blame. Keeping Todd on for a lame duck year? Why? He’s a lifetime .500 coach. He is what he is…Licht is a Brady jock rider. 61-86 without Brady. And apparently he can’t sign FA or his own people. This is Licht’s last year…thankfully.

The Bucs don’t have the cap space this season or 2027 to sign both Mayfield and Vea.
July 28th, 2026 at 5:55 pm
They should not trade him within the conference.
July 28th, 2026 at 6:01 pm
I’m guessing he wants to play out west maybe even with Evans. If a player truly wants out (and it’s not a negotiation) you have to let him go. He’ll be Jamaal Dean 2.0
July 28th, 2026 at 6:03 pm
If they can get a 2’nd round pick for him then definitely trade him. There is no sense in keeping him around where he can poison the other players. The last time anything this drastic happened to the Bucs at the start of training camp was the Ryan Jensen injury. We all know that injury completely derailed the Bucs chances that year. The Baker and Vita drama could effectively do the same thing.
July 28th, 2026 at 6:18 pm
Send him to chicago. Let’m freeze his @ss off, be careful what you ask for. Plus, I’d for sure wear a bucs Vea shirt to the SNF game
July 28th, 2026 at 6:28 pm
It’s been “in vouge” for the last several years for these guys to pine about their contracts and demand/pout for more money with 1 year remaining than they originally signed for when at that time they were paid as elite. I really don’t trust Suh as someone good to be in one’s ear, he seems like a money grub but who knows. I know a lot of what he said was BS, some maybe true but don’t tell me about going to work and not getting paid when you are under contract. I really think at some point the owners are going to say enough to these demands, enough to paying the QB’s 30% of your teams total cap space and a few other craziness the players are doing. They are starting to act like prima donna’s and lest we forget, WE, ALL OF US are really the owners. Without us there is no NFL but how many would be ready to tell these guys to go pound sand, I’ll spend my time and money doing something else until you come to your senses? I know everyone here works dang hard for their money.
July 28th, 2026 at 6:35 pm
Agree ballwasher 61
July 28th, 2026 at 6:36 pm
Why didn’t he do this *before* the draft? It screws the team now.
July 28th, 2026 at 6:52 pm
Trade his ass
July 28th, 2026 at 7:02 pm
JOES; What’s Beckles take on this situation? He i believe likes Vita and thinks he’s one of the best D-line players we’ve had. I would like to hear his take
July 28th, 2026 at 7:23 pm
This team just went from 6 wins to 4. Bye D bye E bye I bowles
July 28th, 2026 at 7:34 pm
I want light to explain what the hell is he doing
July 28th, 2026 at 8:15 pm
Trade him to SF for Evans lol
July 28th, 2026 at 8:39 pm
If he’s traded and then when Kancey goes down with an injury, just a matter of when not if, then the middle of the DL will be WIDE open.
July 28th, 2026 at 8:46 pm
This is all more evidence that they are going to fire Bowles and do a total reset.
New coach wants his own QB. Vea will fetch a decent draft pick.
Licht thinks he’s smart. He thinks he will oversee the new regime.
Licht will be unemployed.
July 28th, 2026 at 8:56 pm
Team healthy but players leaving stopping negotiations left and right. What’s next
July 28th, 2026 at 8:59 pm
Don’t trade him. He has zero leverage. If he wants a new team and a nice payday after the 2026 season, then he needs to ball out this year. Bucs should hold onto him and reap the benefits. If he underachieves well then..
July 28th, 2026 at 9:00 pm
If he isn’t happy with the deal HE SIGNED, then trade him as he requested. A disgruntled employee NEVER works out well for the current employer.
July 28th, 2026 at 9:05 pm
Throw in Bowles to avoid giving up a 5th
July 28th, 2026 at 9:15 pm
They should trade VV and send Boweles with him. 😂
July 28th, 2026 at 10:25 pm
NO IS ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTION …
Do the Bucs want him? Yes. Of course. But, what is his asking price? Is it $20, $30, $40 million a year? It makes a difference. How many years does he expect?
If he wants +$30Mx2 … trade him.
If he wants $25Mx1 … keep him.
July 28th, 2026 at 10:59 pm
Does anyone think we can pick up someone like VV in the upcoming draft with a second round pick? … I didn’t think so. The Joe’s think he wants out. Why might he not simply be posturing? Give him two additional years at a reasonable amount. If he won’t take it, make him play on the current deal and trade him mid season (especially if the team falls apart) to a true Superbowl contender and leverage that mid-season deal for a 1 and a 4.
July 28th, 2026 at 11:20 pm
This site is a real Debbie Downer. This team has a top 5 offensive line, top 10 offense (barring injuries), three really good receivers and likely the best tandem of pass rushers since the Super Bowl team. Last year was last year. This is our team playing for our community. They want and deserve our support.
July 29th, 2026 at 1:11 am
^Buddha, I agree. Our fanbase has a ridiculous “sky is falling” mentality. Imagine if a lot of these people were Browns or Jets fans.
July 29th, 2026 at 8:11 am
i wouldn’t take less than a top-40 projected pick. or, it feels like he could make sense to some teams for an expiring contract player swap
July 29th, 2026 at 2:18 pm
He supposedly hurt his back doing the run at training camp. That’s why he is sitting or standing on the side lines. I don’t know doesn’t see. To good if he tweaks his back doing a run, and how will that affect his stock trade.
