Smells Like Bucs Will Open Preseason In New Jersey

May 11th, 2026

Schedule leaks are flowing. This one comes from a highly credible source.

Longtime Buccaneers preseason TV voice Chris Myers hopped on X today and shared what he’s hearing about the Tampa Bay preseason opener, which is 13 short weeks away. Considering Myers will work all three WFLA-TV broadcasts, Joe assumes Myers has highly reliable intel.

Per Myers, the Bucs may open Week 1 of the preseason in New Jersey against the Jets.

This makes sense. The Bucs have had recent preseason relationships with the Jets, practicing with them in Jersey back in 2023. Also, Todd Bowles is a good friend of Jets head coach Aaron Glenn.

Will the Bucs have a joint practice or two with the Jets? That’s unclear. Those are less common early in preseason.

As for Week 2 of the preseason, Myers suggested the Bucs would return home and then play Week 3 of the preseason, the dress rehearsal game, on the road.

Tampa Bay has nine regular season home games this season, so that’s why the Bucs will have only one preseason game in Tampa.

Joe sure hopes the Week 2 or Week 3 preseason opponent is of a higher caliber than the Geno Smith-led Jets.

just don’t get hurt games. Don’t they reduce the price of tickets and concessions for these games?

  2. Bucswin? Says:

And no Teddy throwing hospital balls. 13 weeks doesn’t sound that long. Keep up the weekly countdown. Please. Go Bucs

  3. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

No. As a season ticket holder you pay full price. To see guys who won’t ever play in the NFL.

  4. KABucs Says:

I always thought that full price for preseason games was ridiculous. They don’t count, they’re pretty much a dress rehearsal for all of the backups, rookies and unsigned free agents.
Pretty much the decider for who gets cut vs makes the team… and that is all.

  5. Truth be Told Says:

The NFL Owners are all Greedy Money Bloodsuckers that are all about lining their pockets with as much Money as possible. It is literally criminal what the price is on Food Concession’s at games. Shameless!

  6. Addb Says:

Preseason games should be free, they will make up the difference in parking and food. Used to love the night practice

  7. LynchMob50 Says:

Aaron Glenn and Todd Bowles together on one field.

That’s a whole lot of loser in a 100 yard space.

Proof that your record as a HC doesn’t matter if you are part of the narrative.

  8. Weebs10 Says:

Clever title. I read it like the Bucs will have a new jersey that they will be wearing

  9. Pickgrin Says:

No to any joint practices with the Jets….

Last time we tried that they cancelled the 2nd day of joint workouts at the last minute and left us hanging – so screw them if they don’t know how to properly host joint practices….

  10. Rod Munch Says:

So how have the injuries worked out since Bowles decided that starters are too precious to play in preseason games?

Literally every former player I’ve ever heard talk about it says they wanted snaps in the preseason to get up to speed.

Going from the NFLPA mandated soft practices to regular season full game speed has increased injuries, and the Bucs, with Bowles cupcake preseasons, seem to suffer more injuries than most teams.

Lynch you are barely part of this narrative and you get a voice.
Why I don’t know because you always sound miserable.
What NFL team DO you like?
I agree and so does a bunch of others that change was needed.
Just look at Pittsburgh for an example.
I’m sure fans were calling for Tomlins firing too and he was a GREAT coach.
It’s OVER, he is our coach Todd Bowles no matter how much you wine about it.
Is rooting for your team a crime or would you rather be right?

  12. BillyBucco Says:

Munch Bowles has started 3-1 every year so complaining about what Todd does in preseason doesn’t hold water.
