Dallas Not Exactly A Hot Team

January 9th, 2023

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy.

Joe could argue the Bucs are playing better than the Cowboys.

Joe is pretty convinced if Todd Bowles wanted to, the Bucs could have beaten the Dixie Chicks yesterday. With the starters in the game and despite missing key players like Donovan Smith, Tristan Wirfs, Carlton Davis and Vita Vea, the Bucs looked pretty sharp.

And remember, the Bucs led by a touchdown when they pulled their starters and the backups, as Bowles explained later, screwed the pooch.

In the last five games, America’s Team ought to be under an IRS audit. They’ve struggled in each one. The only impressive win was against a banged-up Eagles squad.

Last night the Cowboys got their arses kicked in by the Commandos and rookie quarterback Sam Howell.

So yeah, just because Dallas plays in the NFC East, which is annually overhyped by the northeast-biased press, that doesn’t mean the Bucs will face some Tom Landry- or Jimmy Johnson-led juggernaut.

Agreed. We should win this game.

  2. SKBucsFan Says:

We can’t look past this game but it certainly is win-able. I just hope Bowles can buck-the-trend and actually have the team prepared.

  3. David Says:

I really do not expect the Buccaneers to win, but I can also see them beating anyone in the NFC except the Eagles because every team in the playoffs have just as many flaws as the Buccaneers.
At least the Buccaneers are going to be pretty healthy heading in.

  4. Samson50 Says:

    Go Bucs beat DAL

  5. Goatfarmer Says:

Any Todd Blowes coached team, with the drain bamaged sidekick Leftardwich, is capable of carefully preparing their units to show up flat, uninspired, and get beaten by a squad of three legged iguanas.

Dallas is favored? Hammer them to cover.

The Bucs aren’t exactly a hot team right now either. I don’t know why so many seem confident they’ll beat the Cowboys. They barely beat AZ. This is an awful team. Just awful. It’s so disgraceful that I’m p!ssed off that we have to wait all the way until Monday night to end this sh!tshow.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Brady is 7-0 vs the Cowboys…

Then again, Brady was also undefeated vs the Falcons, until today.

Bad coaching is something Brady has never had to deal with until this year, and it shows why good coaches should be the big bucks.

  8. Anonymous Says:

Dude did you seriously just put Brady’s no longer undefeated against the Falcons. Bruh they were winning today before they pulled all the starters. They would have won had the starters played the whole game. The falcons victory was irrelevant and should be placed with an asterick, they beat the JV squad dude, they didn’t beat Brady.

  9. Will Says:

Lol Joe how many bad teams did we lose to this year? I hope we win but I wouldn’t put anything on us doing it. This has been a bad team all season not a single convincing win.

You better enjoy the show as it is right now while it lasts. Because next year we will be competing for the #1 pick. Keeping Bowles, Brady gone, cap hell, and our back-ups are really, really bad. We are looking at a total rebuild. This playoff run is it. It will be years before this team is competitive again.

He’s literally no longer undefeated vs the Falcons. Literally. That’s not my opinion, that is what is in the record books.

  12. Rod Munch Says:

Well said Jerry. I’ve been trying to explain that to these idiots around here as well, but they think we can just replace Tom Brady with Mike Glennon and it won’t make a bit of difference.

Salary cap hell is legit next year, and while it’s possible they could keep Brady, unless they win the SB, I can’t see him coming back since so many guys are going to be leaving because of the cap. Then, once Brady is gone, it’s total rebuild time, and probably another 2-decades of being irrelevant.

People need to really appreciate these last few days of the Bucs even being talked about, since, outside of the draft, no one is even going to remember the Bucs exist (like how when Brady told Gronk he was heading to Tampa, Gronk said — ‘oh yeah, I forgot they had a team’).

  13. Pewter Power Says:

This is a ridiculous article based on comparison of record, offensive output and just about any other stat you can think of. Not hot right now is much better than ice cold all season long. This is a toss up game honestly but please not a bunch of articles about how the Bucs are better because they have not been better and have one of the weakest teams in the playoffs thanks to Byron and Bowles

  14. steele Says:

Certainly, the reality of salary cap hell, which began this season, explains the attitude shown towards in-house JAGs and practice squadders, and the higher than merited hope in mediocre draft picks, including JTS, Hall, McCollum, Goedeke etc., all thrown out there, annointed as great. Free agency was poor as well. They still should have done better in the last two offseasons. From here on, it will be even worse.

The question of Brady depends on how the next series of quarters goes for this team, and whether he can force his story to an improbable happy ending or not.

And also if this ugly season, personally and professionally, has changed his feeling about playing. His legacy is already tarnished now. Maybe he has been forced to lower his standards. No longer Super Bowl or bust, but just happy to play in the NFL at all. If the latter, he might stay. As bad as Team toilet Bowles is, it is easier than uprooting himself to a new city, starting a whole new relationship with new coaches and players and systems, and doing that at 46.

  15. Go Bucs Go Says:

General consensus around the league on where Bucs stand for the upcoming game against Cowboys.

Although Dak is going INT spree for the last 7 games, Cowboys are 1-4 on natural grass, not so good in postseason… everyone seems to agree that Buccaneers are absolutely terrible any way you slice it. Hence Cowboys are 4.5 points favorite in this rematch.

    Go Bucs!

  16. Mike C Says:

Even if the Bucs win they are done the following week smh, on the road short week, rested opponent. Bucs had a very small chance to advance past the second round in an ideal circumstance, much less being put behind the 8 ball in the 2nd round. Monday Night football in the Playoffs is a tragedy, wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

  17. Onetrickpony Says:

Dallas not a hot team? We aren’t ourselves by a long shot.
At least we have Leftwich calling or plays. Yeah right.
Turn Brady loose to do his no huddle when he wants to, and we have a chance. I wish there was a chance that Brady could be the OC but there’s not a prayer for that to happen and especially with zombie Todd Bowles here, even if Leftwhich left. Pretty soon we will all be singing thanks for the memories to Brady

  18. SB~LV Says:

    Either are the Bucs
Brady can’t wait to get out of Tampa!
    His body language is telling

  19. gotbbucs Says:

Parsons will have Donovan Smith spinning circles and grabbing for anything to hold onto.
I agree, this is a winnable game, but Smith is probably the one guy that can lose this game singlehandedly.

  20. Doc Says:

The Cowboys are not bottom feeders, that the Buc’s have been beaten up on. The worst thing that could have happen, did in fact happen, the Cowboys look bad Sunday. The Cowboy’s will be focus in pratice and doing the game on Monday night. Better put your track shoes on Buc fans.

  21. Jack Sparrow Says:

Not a hot team ? That’s what Dallas wants you to think,

  22. Goatfarmer Says:

Bucs are 8-9 and all proud of the way they had to mount a furious comeback in the 4th quarter to beat a 7-10 Carolina team to “win” the division — with Sam D’Arnold at QB. With losses to the same Panthers only worse with PJ Walker, the Steelers with no secondary, the Browns, and blew a 17 point lead against the Bengals.

    This team sucks. Why?

Todd Blowes. He can suck the life energy out of any organism, he might be a Terminator. But he definitely needs to be terminated.

  23. Tampa2ATL Says:

No jinx no jinx no jinx

  24. Snook Says:

Nothing heats up a team quicker than playing the Bucs though.

  25. Sbucs Says:

Welcome to one blow out loss and done
