Status: Who Knows?

Bucs coach Todd Bowles

A few interesting nuggets from Bucs coach Todd Bowles on the current status of a couple of tight ends who it seems the Bucs want to contribute this year.

So what’s up with foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski? Despite Tom Brady teasing visitors on social media that Gronk may return for one last season with the Bucs, Bowles said he’s still in the dark about Gronk’s plans.

“No, it’s still status quo,” Bowles said when asked if he got any update from Gronk recently.

When Bowles was pressed if Gronk gave him any idea when Bowles could expect a decision from the future Hall of Fane tight end, Bowles said in so many words, nope.

“I do not at this time,” Bowles said.

Since it was rookie minicamp, Joe noticed that fourth round pick tight end Cade Otton was on the sidelines wearing a baseball cap and not participating. Otton had ankle surgery back in November and it seems Bucs trainers haven’t given Otton a green light to practice. Yet.

“We’re going to take it day-by-day,” Bowles said of Otton. “I’m not a trainer, so we’ll see where he is next week.”

So right now your top two Bucs tight ends are Cam Brate and Codey McElroy. Joe is a bit uncomfortable with that.

Cam, Cody, Cade & Ko……..some unique TE names there..

    And, I wouldn’t be complete without my “Gronk-a-day” article……thanks…

  2. Casual Observer Says:

Sign Gronk for this one year with the training camp proviso that he wants. If they can do that, no reason for much more delay.

  3. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Relax, Gronk will be back, when HE is ready!

  4. MadMax Says:

He;s coming back, and we’ll go easy on him, limited snaps until we start making our push. Thats why im excited about our rookie TE’s. They will def get snaps.

Brady and Gronk can set league records as a pair, and individually, that will stand for generations. Gronk loves Brady. There’s no way he leaves Brady hanging. They are a team within a team. Gronk will retire when Brady does.

I’m pretty sure that if Gronk was not coming back, he would not be raising the hopes of his fans, his team mates, and the Bucs organization by his indecisiveness. He has his own reasons for not committing, so let’s respect and give him space. He knows how much we appreciate him.

Such assurance from the right hands of God… err, Gronk. Wtf do you know?

  8. Mtbucsfan Says:

Let the man be! Give him his time. He is a lot like Dennis Rodman let him do him and when he comes back he’ll come back huge. He will be back after all the mandatory stuff he doesn’t want to do and doesn’t need to do lol.

Trade kyle trask and one of your 10 guards on the team for a tight end.

All that really matters is who are the Bucs TE’s when the season starts.
