“All The Fans Are Finding Out What I’ve Known For A Long Time”

January 17th, 2022

“Hey Bruce, we nailed another one, brother.”

The love never stops flowing when Bucco Bruce Arians is asked about one particular subject, one that arose today when the head coach sat down with WFLA-TV sports chief Dan Lucas.

Ask Arians about running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, and it’s like the head coach’s heart swells with joy and appreciation.

“I think all the fans are finding out what I’ve known for a long time, man, he’s a hell of a player,” Arians said of Vaughn during the Bucs With B.A. segment. “We’re always comfortable when he’s back there.”

Vaughn has led the Bucs in rushing in each of the past four games, racking up 183 yards and averaging 4.25 yards per carry with three touchdowns. He’s also caught six balls. He’s the hot hand and the top dog with Ronald Jones on a bad ankle and Leonard Fournette nursing a shaky hamstring.

The second-year back is no Fournette, but Joe truly wonders whether the soaring confidence in Vaughn will keep him at least as the No. 2 back if both Fournette and RoJo ret

If Vaughn goes Sunday as top dog without Fournette and RoJo available, then Joe would be willing to wager a little that Vaughn would be the go-to guy if he stayed strong and the Bucs landed in the NFC Championship.

He’s only going to get better the more he plays.

  2. gotbbucs Says:

I was a little confused why Vaughn sat for such a long time yesterday after he started the day well. Seemed odd to give Gio Bernard so much work coming off of an MCL injury.

  3. SlyPirate Says:

    Playoff Ke’Shawn

  4. alaskabuc Says:

Keep feeding the young man if he keeps playing like this. Lenny will have been gone over a month by the time he returns, and Vaughn already looks better at catching the ball and pass pro than Rojo ever has (not saying much). Keep feeding the hot hand and let Lenny ease back into service as the #2. We are in win now mode, stick with what is working.

  5. HC Grover Says:

Lenny should be able to play Sunday.

  6. Jmarkbuc Says:

Feed em all… Lenny Rojo Vaughn and Bell… wear some teams out.

  7. BigPoppaBuc Says:

He looked great yesterday. Showed some improved patience and still flashed that burst when saw daylight. He’s not exactly a bruiser. He runs hard but can still be knocked down fairly easily. I agree that he’s earned trust and therefore touches. It’s up to the coaches to determine who’s best in which situation going forward. Lenny of course has proven very reliable but I wouldn’t deny Vaughn who has some big play potential.

  8. BradyBucs Says:

GIO has “pop” like no other back in our stable. He has truly EXPLOSIVE acceleration.

They need to get Gio more involved in the passing game as a 3rd down back and give Vaughn the bulk of the rushing duties.

  9. Kstoges Says:

honestly really like gio tho he’s got that real burst in short area I like

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

Vaughn seems to he better with more playing time. Had no idea he was a gamer like this. Why mess up a good thing. Keep him in there,

  11. Biff Barker Says:

Gio and KV paired up nicely yesterday. Bucs both lucky and smart to still have two good backs available.

  12. NeverGIVEup Says:

He reminds me of Mr. 28 Warrick Dunn

  13. TheRealDrew Says:

I think they started playing Gio more when they had a lead, cause he’s expendable and Vaughn isn’t. They were pretty certain to win that game and had to preserve Vaughn.

  14. Casual Observer Says:

Vaughn has been underrated. He’s a keeper.

  15. Zzbuc Says:

I agree he is good, but if BA already knew this, why didn’t he played him before? At least some snaps
    How good is Rojo???

    Sometimes BA confuses me……

  16. Swampbuc Says:

Goo also proved that he doesn’t suck at all. Nice sideline grab for a first down in the red zone off a high Brady ball.

  17. Jmarkbuc Says:

Rojo isn’t interested in playing football….

  18. Swampbuc Says:

    What?

  19. unbelievable Says:

I’d like to see some play designs with 2 of our backs in at the same time.

Run a little misdirection / some new plays that our opponents hasn’t ever seen.

  20. unbelievable Says:

    * have not ever seen

  21. Trophybuc Says:

    Boy…wat an issue to have…
    3 interchangeable pieces!
    Pretty much! We can have
    different blocking schemes
    to match the runner.🤔
    Match the defensive line
    strengths.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Nothing wrong with Rojo….he’s our best runner….not so good with protection or passes but best runner for sure.

  23. Jmarkbuc Says:

I know Rojo is a great runner.. just doesn’t seem to want to.

Unbelievable … I agree two back sets that we never do might blow defenses mind.

  24. gotbbucs Says:

    @Zzbuc
I think Brady has a really heavy hand in the players that see the field. They have to earn Brady’s trust to get out there.
Did you notice that after those first couple dropped balls yesterday, Perriman barely saw the field.
I’m pretty sure that when we all think that certain players are in BA’s doghouse, they’re actually in the GOAT’s doghouse.

  25. Roy T. Buford Says:

Next man up, and he’s doing his job. But…Arians cannot expect fans to know anything other than what we see, and until lately, it’s not really been great. That said, Arians was gushing about Winston too…who fans also knew for a while was a bust.

  26. DaBux Says:

    Bye RoJo.

  27. mg Says:

Vaughn appears to have soft hands when catching passes. TB-12 likes that.

  28. Bird Says:

Dang. Did you see the brawl in upper deck st
    Buc game.
Typical eagles fans starts junk. Throws guy down stairs
Bunch of buc fans jump in and pummel the guy
    Glad crowd was majority bucs

    On tmz

  29. Ed Says:

Goo Bernard has been great when his number is called.

  30. SB Says:

I’ve been telling everyone here since he was drafted that that kid caused us Gators’ fans Fits for years!

  31. Swampbuc Says:

The autocorrect makes “G i o” into “Goo.”

So, new nickname for him. Now we have a backfield with Sneak and Goo.

  32. PA Buc Fan Says:

SB that may have something to do with Gators being trash lol! Just messing.

  33. Listnfrmafar Says:

Can’t see how Bucs can sit Vaughn or Gio after last game. Other than the Oline, maybe some of these injuries aren’t such a bad thing. How can a DC plan for Bucs O if they don’t know who the plan for?

  34. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Until Lenny is fully healed feed these dawgs. ROJO has no heart and believe he’s not too interested in football either. If he really wanted to play he would’ve worked on his hands and pass pro

  35. SPARKY Says:

Giovanni reminds me of James White. To me Rojo is #4 back now.

  36. Caleb lee Says:

I like having “Sneak” 2nd in line as Lenny has morphed into a pass catching monster over the course of the season. Lenny was a huge reason we won the SB as well.

  37. BuccoBDub Says:

    See ya Rojo!!

  38. Jmarkbuc Says:

    DBBF99

Yep.. no heart or desire. Out of the league soon.

  39. Destinjohnny Says:

Dude was a nice draft pic
I would think his 40 time would be in the 4.4 range?

  40. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I would have cut Vaughn a long time ago, one reason I am a roof cleaner, and not an NFL Head Coach.
I honestly did not think Vaughn had it in him, but boy was I wrong!
    Vaughn has looked awesome lately!

  41. JimmyJack Says:

With our OL a big question mark getting Fournette back could be a big deal if we need to rely on our running game more.

It was really nice to see what Goo Bernard did yesterday and those quick passes could be huge if our pass protection is struggling.

Not even worried about Jensen, only Wirfs. Jensen is just one of them dudes(like JPP) that you would have to put into a wheelchair before you could stop him from playing in a game like this.

  42. CJBuc Says:

    #Goo #Sneak…lets effin goooooo Bucs!!!!

  43. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

Running fresh backs at Donald and Vaughan will be a key to the game.

  44. DrunkInYbor Says:

My God 🙏!!! Just take a breather pause and remember Greg, Lovie, Dirk etc..etc.. Enjoy this it won’t last forever. What a JOY to be a Bucs fan!! When I was growing up we were made fun off on national t.v., our priest would make jokes, local commercials made jokes, local t.v. . This is our time enjoy it to the fullest. ( Cracks open a brew) I am
