“They Are A Good Tackling Team”

October 27th, 2019

Gives Bucs’ run-D props.

This warms Joe’s heart.

Just some background: Joe remembers once that John Madden, broadcasting a Monday Night Football game (Joe believes it was a Steelers game), marveled at what he thought were the two best defenses in the NFL, Pittsburgh and the Bucs.

One reason Madden thought they had such good defenses (this was obviously during the glory years of the Bucs) was that they had two old school defensive coaches, Dick LeBeau of the Steelers and Monte Kiffin of the Bucs.

But what separated the defenses from the rest of the NFL pack, Madden said, was how well both tackled.

It tears Joe apart when he sees dudes try to blow up a ball carrier and inevitably whiff on the tackle. So Joe was really impressed when Titans coach Mike Vrabel earlier this week spoke about how well the Bucs tackle. It made Joe wistful.

Think about it: Vrabel was a helluva defender and got rings playing for Bill Belicheat. So he knows about playing fundamental football. So for him to praise the Bucs’ run defense impressed the hell out of Joe.

Vrabel even gave a shout out to Jordan Whitehead’s physical play.

Sad thing is, if this Bucs defense wasn’t so p!ss poor against the pass, this team would be cooking with gas defensively. Sad!

You can hear Vrabel praise the Bucs’ run defense in this BSPN video below.

What seperated bucs defense from greats was thier inability to win in the post season…. they were a highly ranked defensive unit on a horrible one dimensional team led by a clown who was actually worse than BA on game days… bucs defense is rarely mentioned with the greats because of thier pathetic post season accomplishments… they are the pure definition of lucky one year wonders…. 2 play off wins in 6 years is pathetic not legendary… bucs have no business being mentioned with legends or legit great teams. Its sad….

Too bad we can’t stop even average quarterbacks from passing on us.

Joe says: “if this Bucs defense wasn’t so p!ss poor against the pass”

Yet in the poll, people still vote for this team to win.

    Sad.

Career passing yards today for RT today……….All Backup QBs do well against the Bucs crappy Secondary

……..what a sad stat that has become

Aahh yes, I see that the optimists are out in force this morning. Do any of you know who’s even going to start in our Secondary today? Do you know what the Titans gameplan will be against the Bucs? Do you know what our gameplan is against them? Or how we’ll play-call and make adjustments today on BOTH sides of the ball as the game unfolds?

My guess is no you don’t, and neither do I. Or Joe for that matter. Our Bye came at a very good time. We were dinged up some & some will return today. Will they play better? I don’t know … and neither do you. But the difference seems to be that I HOPE so. And IF they do, MAYBE we can dogfight our way out of Nashville with a win. But even IF we don’t, let’s at least HOPE that we see some growth in this team. And yes, especially in our Secondary. OK, and in our OLine too. And yes, in our QB too.

  7. TOM Says:

Bucs will win today & everything will be well in Bucsville. JW will have a good game & will be declared our franchise QB. On to the SB.

  8. GhostofSchiano Says:

Hhhmmm. Didn’t Sean Payton praise our offensive line 2 weeks ago and look what happened. Psychological ploy. Wish the Buxs would get their heads in the damn game

  9. GhostofSchiano Says:

Tannehill will look like the second coming of Montana today, Henry will look like Earl Cambell and the Bucs will look like the Bucs. Jason Licht version of course.

  10. It’s Bucs life Says:

Now that is the same ole Bucs we are used to. Fumble in our own red zone followed up by a quick td pass by the other team. All is right I. The universe once again. Pathetic as usual

  11. Oneilbucs Says:

How come we don’t run the ball sometimes ? We need to be balances we can’t give up on the run . That would make us easy to stop if we going to just throw the ball.

  12. Oneilbucs Says:

Man when you can’t run the ball it will always be hard to win. And sometimes you have to go for it 4th in 1 !!!
