Doug Martin Health Pattern Continues

Depressing career pattern continues

There is a reason why AC/DC-loving Bucs general manager Jason Licht only guaranteed Doug Martin two years on his still fresh five-year pact.

That reason came clear this afternoon when Doug Martin blew a right hamstring and was lost for the game — and who knows how long.

Martin, now in his fifth season, has yet to have consecutive successful seasons. After running for a career-best 1,454 yards as a rookie, Martin had back-to-back injury-plagued, rotten seasons. He bounced back last year for 1,402 yards and was rewarded with a sweet deal.

And Martin blowing a hamstring is why. Martin will be 28 in January. That’s approaching NFL AARP age of 30 for running backs (spare Joe the Adrian Peterson-is-30 line. Does Martin in any way remind you of that freak of nature?).

If a running back can’t string two straight seasons of healthy football together, and he is pushing 30, there is a reason Licht only promised Martin two years on a five-year pact.

Get healthy quick, Doug. The Bucs need you.

This is a play action offense, Without DM22. the run game was not there and was not respected at all!! And Our Wr are not explosive enough to really get open on their own!!!

2017 Bucs NFL Draft WR,TE, Safety!!!!!

  2. This Guy Right Here Says:

Sims the IIIrd was a non factor in the run game. Lets hope 22 can get back in it, cause if not, Winston will be watching each game from the ground lookin up.

Lovie Smith lost that game. I saw him on the sidelines standing right beside Koetter with a Sh.. eatin grin on his face. Don’t blame Martin. I told you..cheerleading non-opposition researching buc fans that the game would be a nasty, brutal low down physical contest. It was. And We..got the worst end of it with a..plethora of injuries. Arizona is amongst the elite of the NFL. Now you know why. Heal up Bucs. Rams up next. Must win game.

    Mike

Please take that totally weak lovie crap out of here. Is that the best you got?

He freaking lost to the mighty Western Michigan Broncos by 21 freaking points. His rout at the hands of UNC came loaded with tons of penalties the Lovie Smith trademark.

It seems pretty clear the game has totally passed him by not just on the NFL but the NCAA level as well. I can guarantee you that a large state school like Ill has better talent than Western Michigan. I had to look up their nickname.
And not just lose but as you like to say…got his arse handed to him big time!

Oh but hey W MI did beat NorthWestern by a point so there’s that.

Oh and btw Illinois is now at the bottom of the Big Ten power rankings stuck at 14th.

Seriously a strained hammy is a is all the justification you need.. Really.

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

StpeteBucfan..But I did. I saw lovie laughing on the sidelines. Didn’t you see him too? The GHOST OF LOVIE SMITH!

  9. THETRUTH Says:

Go get JAMES back now , Simms is a tip toe back no power from back field. Mike James has proved he can handle the carries !!
