When Will The Bucs Join The Florida Lottery?

June 18th, 2009

In recent months, the NFL has relaxed restrictions on NFL teams partnering with state lotteries to sell speciality tickets. The practice isn’t that much different than vanity plates. The state uses a team logo, and the team gets a cut.

Given the fact the Glazer Boys aren’t exactly flush with cash (has anyone seen or heard an ad for Bucs tickets lately?), unless you count the loot they got for selling a kickball player with one name, Joe has wondered why the Glazer Boys haven’t already come out with a Bucs Florida scratch off lottery ticket?

The perfect ticket would be, after the scratch off is complete, if the card reveals Rachel Watson, you win the lottery!

Here, Mike Florio, the creator, curator and overall guru of ProFootballTalk.com, talks about the pros and cons of NFL teams sharing a bed with state lotteries.

Hey Joe Mr. Lucky thinks you have a good idea here. Imagine the possibilities – for example:

You scratch off the ticket and it reveals Josh Freeman – you win nothing it’s a bust

You scratch off to reveal Sgt Winslow – you win the jackpot for doing nothing!

You scratch off to reveal Raheem – you win a penny for your thoughts

You scratch off to reveal Brooks – you win $55 but you’ve got to go to another city (not in Florida) to play that ticket

You scratch off to reveal Talib – you lose: Go to Jail, don’t pass go, don’t collect $200 but you can put it in the drawing for an anger management class
