Bowers Helps Famous Lawn-Napper Get Arrested

July 21st, 2014
"Man, that girl went all Talib on us."

“Man, that girl went all Talib on us.”

Perhaps in a drunken search for Mike Williams’ old house, former Destiny’s Child star Farrah Franklin was arrested in the wee hours on the front lawn of a home that wasn’t hers yesterday.

What this has to do with the Bucs is that Tampa Bay defensive end Da’Quan Bowers is the good citizen who helped law enforcement find Franklin and give a her cot to sleep on.

Per a TMZ.com report, Bowers flew Franklin in to visit him and Texans linebacker Ricky Sapp in South Carolina for a day of adult activities, but things turned sour.

Sapp and Bowers both told police they thought Franklin had been doing drugs. Bowers told police he was suspicious of Franklin because she would go to the bathroom for extended periods of time.

Bowers and Sapp say they called cops after Franklin went nuts, screaming and slamming doors. They told police Franklin fled. Cops combed the neighborhood and eventually found Franklin laying down in a neighbor’s lawn.

Police described Franklin as “highly intoxicated” and “unsteady on her feet,” but she denied using drugs. She told police she had nowhere to go and planned on sleeping in the woods.

Bowers is a professional musician himself, so maybe Franklin was joining Bowers for some innocent song collaboration. Who knows?

But Joe does find all this quite comical. So Bowers was “suspicious” because of a woman’s lack of urination? Man, Joe could go all sorts of forbidden places with that one.

Regardless, Joe is pleased to note that Bowers assisted police and is not in any trouble beyond his inability to breathe on quarterbacks. Training camp kicks off in four days.

  2. Buddhaboy Says:

Ha Ha, inability to breathe on QB’s WHat was dude doing flying in this crzy chic while he is supposed to be getting into shape. Cause we all know he needs distractions.

Maybe she was having problems doing a number two!!!

  4. Buccfan37 Says:

The only trouble Bowers may be in is his want and ability to make good on his Bucs career. The answer is imminent.

    LMAO..Good one

    First paragraph…bravo Joe!

2nd rounder with no obvious extension in the works, flying people anywhere = Future bankruptcy

  8. Louis Friend Says:

He’s not working on getting in shape. The only thing this story tells me. Good luck in your next career, because you’re not likely to be in the NFL for long.

  9. Louis Friend Says:

Pisses me off actually. WTF kind of excuse will he have this year? Kick him out before his NFL pension is guaranteed. Better players than him deserve the perks much more.

  10. tiny tim Says:

I am tired of some of you know it all buc fans. When will you learn that players have lives outside of football. What, a grown man can’t chase skirts and be in shape as well? I am not defending bowers, but whenever a story comes out about a player/athlete doing normal human nature things; you don’t have to throw out the old he should be in his playbook card. You are clueless if you think that.

Maybe you should get out of your mom’s basement where you have so much time that you are a master at world or warcraft. Get out of the basement and you will realize that employees of all professions unwind sometimes. Are you in your company’s manuals and policies at 2am in the morning? I think not. Get off your freaking high horse you know it all judgemental fans.

  11. Maze Says:

Yup, sounds like he’s ready for reading training camp. Bet he doesn’t even make the team

  12. Maze Says:

Err, something like that. The future is Gholston

  13. Louis Friend Says:

Tiny Tim, if my livelihood were at stake – you’re damned right I’d be reading manuals at 2am. This guy may not even make his team. And in doing so effectively be ending his career. High horse? No. Try realism.

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

@tiny tim- It is unsettling isn’t it? I mean, what playbook?! The guy’s a freakin’ D-lineman! If anything, people should be saying, “so what?” He’s made his bed. He’ll either make the team or not.
Who cares?! That ship has sailed.

  15. biff barker Says:

    Bowers didn’t do anything wrong.

But he hasn’t exactly done anything right either.

  16. FanOfBucs Says:

What a bunch of Nancy’s some of you are.. Sheesh

  17. FanOfBucs Says:

    Like omg, really?

    Did he really do that?

Let’s all have a slumber party about it and play dolls

  18. tiny tim Says:

Louis Friend – If your livelihood is at statke? Does that mean study the playbook 16 hours a day and sleep for the other 8? Yea, that will really make sense. Why do you think the NFLPA etc. has this 6 week break before training camp starts. Why did you hear Lovie say at the end of OTAs for the players to go and get their minds off of football and come back ready to hit the ground running? Because once training camp starts, the grind truly begins and now is the time to relax and enjoy your friends, family and ofcourse some skirts. Again, get over yourselves people.

  19. Louis Friend Says:

Tiny Tim, we’ll see if people are right or wrong in a few weeks. Let us know your thoughts when he gets cut from the roster and is out of a job.

  20. tiny tim Says:

I meant now is the time to enjoy friends, family and skirts because when training camp starts its full steam ahead football.

  21. Tom Edrington Says:

    @ Tiny Tim:

Bowers hasn’t had any steam in him since the day they drafted him!

  22. tiny tim Says:

If Bowers gets cut, it has nothing to do with him inviting a girl to his house. It has everything to do with him not being a good football player. Trust me, there are a lot of players who study their playbooks as much as you would like them to and still get cut every year. The reason is because they were not good enough to make the team. Again, that has nothing to do with whether or not they wanted to chase skirts in their “FREE” time. Some people get it, and some people don’t.

  23. hamilton Says:

    Tim tebow,study a lot to.

  24. Boomer33 Says:

My only question is where are all these basements that tiny Tim is referring to. Not here in Florida.

  25. Louis Friend Says:

Tiny Tim – Bowers never lacked talent. Only effort. And a willingness to commit himself to being a football player first, not a whatever he styles himself as. He’s out of shape and he’s been that way since last year. There’s no excuse. Even guys recovering from offseason surgery dedicate themselves to not sucking wind and being unfit when they report. In OTA’s, he was anything but. Read some prior articles here about it.

  26. d-money Says:

“Bowers told police he was suspicious of Franklin because she WOULD go to the bathroom for extended periods of time.”

How do you read that to mean he was suspicious of her lack of urination?

A more likely scenario is that he believes she was in there doing lines of coke or something.

But go ahead and stick with the peeing thing, you’re probably right, that makes perfect sense.

  27. buc'd Up Says:

    @ TinyTim

Lovie told his players to relax publicly because he had to. If you are playing for him, the translation goes something like this…

(In Samuel L Jackson’s voice from Pulp Fiction) DON’T YOU DARE F#6K THINGS UP DURING THIS LITTLE BREAK. AND, YOU BETTER KNOW THIS PLAYBOOK FRONT AND BACK OR THAT’S YOUR A$$.

  28. buc'd Up Says:

    @ Tom Edrington

    Best response ever.

  29. LoggedontoSay Says:

Joe, I do not get how Bowers was suspicious about a woman’s lack of urination…?

  30. Ghost Says:

    @ tiny Tim
I’ll bet you were a big mike “house party” Williams fan and a kellen “Boston market” Winslow fan too.

  31. Brandon Says:

Lack of urination? He said she went to the bathroom frequently for extended periods of time. Nowhere did I read that she wasn’t urinating.

  32. Maze Says:

She was obviously taking rips on the bathroom counter.

  33. Drew Says:

Bower’s was suspicious about the lack of urination when he provided her a cup for a piss test and she returned an empty cup.

  34. bucsfan1979 Says:

Boomer33> There are some house here in Florida with basements in Brooksville i have been in them. not allot but some. Brooksville is the highest part of our great state.

  35. tiny tim Says:

Some of you can make this all about Bowers if you want to. I am talking about any time there is an athlete that is reported to be at a party or reported to be at the club or reported to be on a fishing trip, you all yell he should be in his playbook. You are all lames and have no clue about the real world. The athletes are human beings just like you and I. They have the right to unwind like any average “Joe”. Sorry you are too blind to see this.

Agreed. Let’s hope what we currently know about Bowers’ party is all that actually happened.
