Celebrating Bucky Irving

November 4th, 2026

Bucs offense runs through Bucky Irving.

It seems Cody Mauch’s nickname for the Bucs offense is not catching on with the cool kids at BSPN.

Mauch deemed the Bucs’ running style as “F*** You Football.” But Ben Solak, appearing on Mina Kimes podcast, referred to the bruising running style of the Bucs as “beastmode.”

(Would it surprise you Joe likes Mauch’s description better?)

Solak was giddy as he discussed how the Bucs all but ignored the passing game and went full-blown Woody Hayes against Atlanta and Carolina.

But Solak had an interesting point. The reason why this three-yards-and-a-clump-of-mud offense is working is that Bucky Irving is healthy. The offense, Solak swears, runs through Bucky and would not be possible if not for him.

“The salient point is that Bucky Irving is back,” Solak said. “2024 Bucky was such an engine to the Baker Mayfield/Liam Coen team. They were so good running the football. They were great in the screen game.

“Bucky is such a unique back. He’s a little jitterbug. He got hurt in 2025, shoulder injury, foot injury. [In] 2026, now healthy, he looks 100 percent. And it is transformative to the offense.”

Should we start hearing chants of “MVP … MVP … “ at The Licht House instead of “buh-KEE … buh-KEE … buh-KEE … ?”

Solak also had an interesting nugget about the run game. When the Bucs run left and behind Tristan Wirfs, the Bucs average 5.8 yards per carry. The only team that averages more running behind the left tackle is the 49ers; they average 5.9 yards a carry behind Trent Williams.

Solak then added there is zero doubt in his mind that when Williams retires, Wirfs will easily carry the torch as the game’s best left tackle.
