Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction.
Russell Wilson interviews for NC State job. No, that’s not a story from The Onion. [PFT]
Jeremiyah Love could be done for the year, on injured reserve. Joe knew this guy would be ruined by the Cardinals. #Sad [CBS]
People are going mental that Jerry Jones said paying top-dollar for a coach doesn’t guarantee success. He’s got a helluva point. Anyone ever hear of Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly, Dabo Swinney, Ed Orgeron or Mike Norvell? [Yahoo!]
The Crows are cooked. [NFL]
Kyle Shanahan tells a referee that a penalty is coming and what he should look for to see it and then throw a flag. Awesome. [TikTok]
Bills take belt to ass on CJ Gardner-Johnson, who seems to be trying to overtake Josh Johnson and play for 25 different teams. [Outkick]
People like to watch the Chiefs. [Front Office Sports]
Trading Lamar Jackson? He’s damaged goods. Who’s going to trade for a quarterback whose throwing hand is in a cast? [Sport and State]
One main reason (not the main reason) Oklahoma left the Big XII and bolted to the SEC was the Sooners were always stuck with noon kickoffs by FOX. Oklahoma suits and fans hated it. Well, it appears the same is happening with FOX and Ohio State. The Buckeyes are stuck in the FOX TV contract until 2030. Could they, what one columnist reported, break off from the B1G along with Michigan, Penn State and USC and either go independent and sign their own TV deal or maybe form a new conference with those same schools along with Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina and Miami? [Awful Announcing]
Dude tries to stay awake for a 24-hour college basketball marathon. Yeah, games even tipped off at 3 a.m. [TikTok]
