Rib Injury Knocks Out Antoine Winfield

October 5th, 2026

Injury update.

Yesterday in the locker room after the game, Joe saw Bucs safety Antoine Winfield walking fine but very, very slowly, gingerly. You would too after Joe heard Bucs coach Todd Bowles today.

In his day-after presser, Bowles said that Winfield suffered a rib fracture in the loss to the Packers. Bowles said Winfield will miss two-to-four games.

So obviously, Winfield is out for Thursday at Dallas.

The hits just keep coming…but oh well.

    Just lose baby!

Bowles you’re toast at the end of the season.

  2. Newbie Says:

Oh man, just when I thought the coaches would start putting in plays for AW…

  3. PC Says:

He still plays for the Bucs??

  4. Capt.Tim Says:

Rumor has it, that in Vietnam- some soldiers would injure themselves, to get shipped out of theatre.

    You don’t think . . .

  5. Brian Says:

Might as well start the draft talk joe. Who we taking at number 1?? Jeremiah Smith or the top QB?

  6. Winny Testaverde Says:

Making a business decision perhaps…might want a break from this shatshow before his next and probably final payday.

He did have a heck of a hit causing a fumble yesterday…so there was that.

Right now it’s almost impossible for this team to put anything of value “on tape”.

The awfulness is spreading/metastasizing throughout the entire team. The exception being McLaughlin…who might have been able to tie things up at the end. Bowles & Co. chose 4th & 14 while allowing an untouched blitzer instead.

  7. AquaBum Says:

Evans playing with fractured ribs. Why does this guy get a pass? Isn’t he being paid $$$$$$$

  8. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-now-please Says:

welp – SMB is going to the Steelers where the first thing he’ll do is meet Aaron Rodgers and discuss the Bucs defense – with Winfield out I am guessing the elevations on Wednesday will be JJ Roberts and Stick

  9. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

And now SMB just got signed off the practice squad….to Pittsburgh!

As for that last drive…..running the ball would, at worst, get 0 yards. Dropping back to pass, the way our O Line was playing, invited the sack and out of FG range. I think they’re trying to lose on purpose and I really don’t understand why.

  10. BucsFan81 Says:

Really won’t make a difference who is in and who is out. This team is not winning a game with Bowles, Zach Robinson or that Swiss cheese offensive line.

  11. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-now-please Says:

THIS is why we are gonna be stuck with Licht-Bowles-Mayfield in 2027 – “injuries” – all the coaches and players will get a pass – rinse and repeat – another season down the Toilet Bowles

  12. Capt.Tim Says:

    Had broken ribs 3 times.
One time from a sword. Don’t ask.
    It sucks.
    Forget sleeping, or normal breathing.
    I’d bet he’s out 4-6.

Either way, at least he’s lucky that he doesn’t have to be embarrassed for a few weeks.

  13. SummerofGeorge Says:

Where are the usual members of the Pom Pom squad at these days?

I really need to hear all about those 12+ wins Todd was bringing us in 2026.

Really hope they are eating that humble pie with a glass of their tears.

Some of us were able to see this coming a mile away.

And it didn’t take rocket science to know how awful Licht and Todd truly are.

  14. ghost Says:

doubt anyone will even trade for him with the stupid contract he got

  15. Tucker Says:

Who cares they haven’t even put in the plays to utilize him anyway right Todd what a joke this has all been. Glazers really like Todd though so there is that I guess oh and the culture winning the culture Superbowl yippeee

  16. Popcornmike67 Says:

I understand injuries are a big part of NFL football but, as I said many times last year, I think the training staff need to be replaced. I see where they did get rid of 1 or 2 trainers which kind of proved my point but the people left was of the same training staff Nevertheless, the Bucs should just clean house in Dec. meaning Bowles, his entire staff and all of the training staff should be let go

  17. Usedtocould Says:

That must be an old photo

  18. Lakeland Says:

The Bucs will have a lot of loot on the sidelines against Dallas

  19. Todd Says:

ME13 put on a Flak vest for his fractured ribs yesterday and led the the 49ers in receiving yards. Mike is just a gamer and a Hall of Famer-Miss him so much.

  20. Sam Says:

He wasn’t doing anything anyway. Team is a joke and a disaster.

  21. john Says:

    hell be traded watch….

  22. We Suck Says:

Crazy how all the underperforming “superstars” keep getting injured.

  23. Jmarkbuc Says:

Didn’t he injure himself jumping up in the air?

  24. View from Modern Times Says:

How will we win the 2020 Super Bowl now? Has he made a play since?

  25. Rastaferian-Jenkins Says:

Tybee Smith and Parrish are the leaders of this defense now. Trotter is on his way. Hope Bain can stretch that groin out and get back in there

  26. BucsFan2023 Says:

AWjr hasn’t been worth a wooden nickel since he got a new contract. He has been playing so deep he needs binoculars to see the wide receivers.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

I bet you a paycheck our Defense would play 5 times better under Mike Tomlin.
Look for a route come Thursday night. 0-5 baby.

  28. AquaBum Says:

The problem is that it’s the offense that’s doo doo, not the D

  29. PortlandBucsFan Says:

Ohhhh man, and Todd was just going to start using he and his skillset more.

  30. Newbie Says:

AquaBum – you wont be saying that after Thursday when the Cowboys hang a half a hundred on this defense. The entire team and organization is “doo doo”.

  31. Will Says:

At this point anyone could coach our OL and DL and get better results. Why isn’t Robinson talking to his buddy Sean McVAY TO LEARN SOME PLAYS. BETTER YET Liam is 4-5 hrs in Jackson I’ll, maybe he can teach him something.

  32. SB~LV 🏈 Says:

    Had that injury.. not fun
Fracture bone is 30 days minimum but this is probably a 30 minimum heal

Crazy how all the underperforming “superstars” keep getting injured.”

    Bingo.

  34. VancouverBuc Says:

    J Whitehead on Line 1.

  35. Daniel Says:

I was unaware he played in the first 4 games. 0 TFLs, INTs, Sacks or Fumbles Caused/Recovered.

  36. Hodad Says:

He still plays for us? Hadn’t noticed.

  37. DoooshLaRue Says:

Who even cares at this point?

  38. aBUCStruth Says:

No one cares about the thief. Man’s wanted for robbing the Glazers. I hope he’s gone for the season

  39. unbelievable Says:

Figures – just when we was finally making some plays again.

Guys get paid and then turn into glass. Funny how that works.

  40. OLDSCHOOL1976 Says:

Man, he was just getting to tap into all his skills per HC
Just a loss to add to the losses

  41. Teacherman Says:

Good thing we still have Izien.

    Oh wait.

He had a sack, à TFL and 11 tackles for the Lions yesterday.

He has started two games Ànd has 5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PD, and 22 tackles.

Izien was my favorite player on two heartless defenses.

He has heart. I hope we re-sign him next year.

He’s a moneybacker. He belongs in the box.

    Especially on 3rd down.
