Jalon Daniels Blitzed At Season-Record Rate

October 6th, 2026

Confounding decisions.

The Packers, like the Bucs, may have a new coach in 2027. But Joe has to give Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur credit. When he sees a weakness in an opponent’s offense, he signs off on his defensive coordinator attacking it.

Can’t say the same for his Bucs counterpart.

Bobby Kownack of NFL.com, after digging through NextGen Stats of the Bucs’ loss to the Packers on Sunday, noticed the Packers came after Bucs rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels heavily and frequently in Daniels’ first NFL start.

Next Gen Stats Insight for Packers-Buccaneers (via NFL Pro): The Packers blitzed Jalon Daniels on 18 of his 36 dropbacks, their highest blitz rate (50%) in a game since Week 11 of 2022. Green Bay had 13 different players generate pressure, the most by any defense this season.

Meanwhile, Packers quarterback Jordan Love had demonstrated in his three previous games that he’s rattled by a pass rush. That’s because the Packers’ offensive line has been a nightmare.

Against the Bucs, Green Bay had new starters at both guard positions and at tackle. That’s a weakness, don’t ya think? KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles didn’t think so. He called off the dogs before the game!

Love had absorbed 31 quarterback hits in the first three weeks of the season. Against the Bucs, Love got hit twice.

Just so irresponsible.

The Bucs, Joe will add, blitzed at a rate of 44 percent the first three weeks of the season. Against Green Bay? Just 17 percent. Against a makeshift line that had guys being pulled off the street.

Right now Joe is just at a loss for words when it comes to the trainwreck the Bucs’ pass rush is. It’s week after mind-numbing week, game after game, season after season.

And people actually wonder why every friggin’ guy the Bucs bring in to rush the passer turns to mush.

Bowles knows more than we do, and his approach held the Packers to 17 points. He’s a great coach.

    It’s coaching malpractice.

    Fire this loser

I remember how foolish Dak made our defense look in Brady’s Last Game – running around willy-nilly – final score 31-14 – that will probably be the score on Thursday –

  4. B24i1llybob1 Says:

Can we finally start talking about the draft we’re going to bt 0-5 soon

  5. HeartyDickerson Says:

At this point it’s a given sleepy Todd will be canned.

The big question is will Licht be flushed too?

  6. freddy Says:

More David Walker perhaps? and how about stop putting rushers in coverage.

Maybe instead of 10 yards off the DB’s cut it to 5 or press the Wr’s to give the pass rush that extra second or 2 , to try and get to the QB

I’m not seeing a downside so far. Everything is fabulous. 0-4 feels great.

And I can hardly wait for 0-5 after Thursday Night Football in front of the entire nation!

Bowles is going to show the world what we’re gifted to witness every year under his genius level coaching.

Babies will be named Todd for a generation after our beloved HC\DC!

  8. Bucs4ya Says:

But this clown wanted to play more coverage when Green Bay was picking up guys off the street to start for them. Smh
Will be a happy Bucs fan when this fiasco is over.

so basically hassan reddick is a stud next to this group…?

asking for a friend of a frenemy

todd has no answers, even the Glazers should be able to see it at this point. Fully expect to get curbstomped on Thursday, just hoping it’s a big enough embarrassment to get them seething and cause them to make a move Thurs night or Friday AM. Very likely the players as well are begging internally for a new voice, though they’ll never admit it publicly.

  11. ATLBuc Says:

Just when you think that he couldn’t be more incompetent, he goes and proves that he can be and is.

  12. gp Says:

    Please don’t prolong the inevitable.

  13. FlBoy84 Says:

Players loving the guy personally and players believing he’s the right HC to lead this organization are not the same thing.

    take of the century:

todd is said to be such a nice guy…maybe it hurts him to put the jaws of defeat on opposing teams, so he takes it upon himself instead…eating losses because he feels bad for others

  15. FortMyersDave Says:

The Glazers should learn a bit from the Rays new ownership as well as the Bolts. They both have exciting and winning products (at least in the regular season for the Lightning) while the Glazers are peddling a third rate bottom feeding product. Clean house Glazers.

Penix Shough and Young all getting high praise – Daniels and Mayfield not so much – ATL & CAR before the bye will be interesting – I would keep Bowles if he gives his post-game interviews after huffing helium and having a Donald Duck voice – and he made balloon animals instead of discussing the game – that would be cool

We can’t protect our qb, we knew what they were going to do, he even said it and still no answer. We can’t get to or don’t care to get to the opposing qb. It’s the opposite. They literally coach the opposite of a winning scheme. Players doing their job, for the most part. But it’s 3-28 every sinking week. At least, what is it 10 out of the last 12 games? Players have to try to win in spite of their coach. How much evidence is needed in this situation? This drama train is building momentum! When will it crash? It’s an Evans is smart Bucs life! Thanks for letting me vent Joe’s.
