Todd Bowles Is Sinking Fast

The Todd Bowles Buccaneers have won two of their last 12 games.
Back in 2018, Bowles won three of his final 12 games with the New York Jets and got fired. In fact, Bowles never had a 2-10 stretch in his four-year stint as New York head coach.
It’s that bad in Tampa.
The Bucs haven’t been 0-3 since the 2014 season, Year 1 of the Lovie Smith nightmare regime.
Bowles had his defense very ready to play today, but the offense wasn’t. And the special teams were a nightmare as Joe detailed.
Joe doesn’t even need to hear what Bowles has to say tonight. What’s coming is some version of, “We gotta coach it better, and we gotta play it better.”
At this point, Joe isn’t sure what Team Glazer is clinging to with Bowles. Is there a scenario in the owners’ heads in which Bowles becomes a Super Bowl head coach?
All that’s left is hope — hope that the Bucs can win next week against the Packers and right the ship. This is the NFC South, after all, a division where hope takes a long time to die.
Bucs fans, including Joe, will be irate all week. Their next gift is a stadium half full of Packers fans a week from today.
The game is almost sold out despite the cheapest seats being over $200, including tax. That means a hell of a lot of cheeseheads to make your gameday experience annoying.
Bowles won’t be fired this week, so stop fantasizing.

Yeah exactly starting with the Fraudulent Division Titles..
Todd Bowles’ .500 record in Tampa (35–35) and pathetic 1–3 playoff mark were entirely propped up by winning terrible 8–9 and 9–8 NFC South titles. The moment his defense surrendered leads, his offensive coordinators had to bail him out.

The second Dave Canales and Liam Coen fixed Baker Mayfield, they got poached as head coaches. Tampa Bay chose loyalty to a defensive head coach with a low ceiling instead of securing the elite play-caller running their entire offense.
**The Ultimate Proof**
Jacksonville hired Coen away in early 2025, and he immediately led them to a **13–4 division-winning season** with a Top 6 scoring offense (27.9 PPG). Meanwhile, Tampa’s offense regressed back into a wall, forcing Bowles to purge five assistant coaches just to save his own job.
The Bucs let a top-tier offensive mind walk out the door to keep a mediocre head coach. Total mismanagement.
But this season has 100% been on Baker sucking!!! Would that be different if Coen was Head Coach is my question???????

I take no solace in knowing this will not be the end of a journey of frustration, but merely only one stop along the way.
We have more years of an aging, declining middling QB journeyman who is stymied once you take away his check down options.
Who is going to come next to take this on? Probably no one and that is why the Glazers will keep Bowles to further torture us. This was their plan – to force themselves to retain Bowles even if the performance was abysmal.
We are doomed.

A lot of us fans could see Bowles wasn’t the guy years ago. These same fans did see a soon to be great HC in Liam Coen.
He was the one that put our offense on the map, Baker was very very good in, that’s when Mike Evans loved it in Tampa and wanted to retire as a Buc.
Remember them days? Now Liam is becoming a one of the best and his team probably to the AFC championship game.
Glazers let him go, Licth wanted Bowles the guy with a horrible record as HC. Oh those picks Licth got how are they playing out? I’m sure Roberto Aguayo will stick up for Licht. Licth has mad a fool of himself, us fans, and the Glazers.

I’ve heard it said if your defense can keep the opposing team under 20 points and your offense can score 27 then you are good on both sides. I agree that the defense didn’t lose that game and the first game. Bucs offense is definitely failing this year. Baker deserves criticism but the O line and Robinson are bigger issues to me. However, Baker shouldn’t have gotten paid. I hope he has a swift recovery but I don’t see any improvement if Oline and Robinson don’t get better.

Paratrooper Buc – The defense gave up 20 points in week 2 – the other 3 was on Baker throwing that awful INT which gave the Browns an easy FG, the defense doesn’t get dinged for that.
No, this is three good defensive performances wasted by the offense.
Today, people are whining about the offensive line, but I think most of the issues were the non-offensive line. It was mainly RB’s and TE’s getting blown up. Also there were plenty of times Baker had time and just does what he does, which is pat the ball, bounce up and down, then run around in a circle. BUT, with that said, we need to see the ALL22 before we know if he had guys open or not. Last week people whined about the offensive line, and the tape pretty clearly showed Baker had guys open and just refused to throw the ball, or didn’t see them, etc.
Today, by Baker Standards, wasn’t a terrible day. But Baker Standards is an extremely low bar.

This team is a tough watch these days. Great day to watch Red Zone…except when they would feature the Buc offense ALWAYS behind the sticks. Unlimited holding calls on the suddenly lousy O-line.
Zero expectations for the remainder of the season. Baker signing that extension/Bucs death warrant likely takes the handful of promising QBs who will be available in the 2027 draft.

I still say the Glazers do not want to be the only team to ever fire 4 black head coaches. They care too much about one the boys in the club will say. Bowels will coach (cough, cough) this team until the end of the season. Then Licht will be tasked to insure bowels retires and accepts a generous severance package so they all save face. Bowles might want to fire Robinson now and get Arians to start drawing things up with his red pen. Pretty sure it will just be this team going through the motions going forward. I don’t know if they can win a game at all this season to be honest. The offensive line is trash. Baker is playing like trash and running around playing backyard football. WR can’t get open or catch. Mike Evans was right to leave he saw it for what it was. A disaster that the owners refuse to deal with. This should have been dealt with in January. It’s going to take a long time to rebuild and fix this culture.

Everyone knows including the Glazers that Bowles should have been fired at the end of last season. Not sure why the Glazers didn’t, maybe some type of financial situations which the Glazers prioritized over winning? As a fan it is heartbreaking going into a season knowing the guy making the decisions is not the coach to bring us a Super Bowl but the only people who don’t seem to know it are the ones making the ultimate decisions. Also totally disappointed in Zac Robinson, thought he would be better than this.

I was encouraged by Todd’s defense holding the Vikings to 16 points today. He called it well and went to man coverage when he needed to.
I, among others, didn’t think that he could do this. I’d have to congratulate him on his defensive performance today.
