Zyon McCollum On The Sidelines
August 11th, 2026The Bucs simply have zero depth at cornerback. So Joe might have to undergo shock therapy after seeing this.
In beautiful Florham Park, N.J., home of the J-E-T-S, Jets… Jets… Jets, a troubling sight is right in front of Joe as he’s here to monitor the Bucs-Jets controlled scrimmages this week.
Zyon McCollum is sidelined.
McCollum is not warming up for the Bucs. He’s standing around in sweatpants. It sure appears he won’t be practicing today.
And no, Joe doesn’t think McCollum is an NFL senior citizen who earned a vet day after a grueling travel day to Newark.
If McCollum is hurt and cannot play, your current backups at cornerback are Benjamin Morrison, who cannot get on the field, and rookie undrafted free agent Ayden Garnes. Or, perhaps, rookie nickel corner Keionte Scott.
How’s your morning going?

August 11th, 2026 at 10:17 am
Tbh McCollum isn’t any better than the corners on the roster not a big deal. I won’t forget when he got hurt in the Seattle game he looked happy to leave also when he got abused by the rams he was free food. He isn’t hungry anymore
August 11th, 2026 at 10:17 am
Clearly, the Fanman’s family crest is not being observed!
“You can never have enough competent DBs”!
August 11th, 2026 at 10:19 am
Since Vita Vea is asking for a trade, trade him for a quality starting CB.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:20 am
Maybe he’s bored already.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:20 am
How these injuries pop up out of nowhere is very interesting. He was ok last week, but it’s only training camp. More work for the back ups, if you can call them that.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:22 am
I mean heck, the 2 CB’s they signed in the off-season ain’t even on the roster anymore half way through TC (Lucas & Hall gonzo)
We need a good Vet CB signing bad and like yesterday, however, the best ones now aren’t even gonna be available until after roster cut down day to 53 and that’s not even guaranteed to get a good or decent one then
McCollum gets bored often and Morrison gets injured often
Think goodness for Parrish, but this is the position that has me worried the most
Now this could be a reason JL changes his mind and trades Mr. Trade Me, I got a “Tweak” Vea, if they aren’t able to procure one without doing so. Otherwise don’t reward that dudes behavior, shenanigans and strictly just about the money attitude and self.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:30 am
We’ll be scouring the roster cuts from other teams….wish I had time to do it but my real job relies on me a lot right now…..uhg, lets see where some guys I scouted this year landed and how they’re doing….you never know, what looks like scrap from one team could turn into decent for someone else….they’re young and can still be developed.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:33 am
I’ve said it once – I will say it again…
If our CBs suck – this defense will suck.
I don’t care how you want to sugar coat it.
Our GM should be fired after this season. He had plenty of chances to get the CB unit addressed and did nothing except another UDFA and a 4th round pick.
Shame on you Jason Licht.
“ROH”?
That’s a friggin joke bud.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:34 am
@Not, if our Backfield stays thin, you darn sure better hope theres a wealth of supply at pass rush, which DEF includes Big V. We just need to get him on a new one….2 yrs, 25 mill.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:35 am
And Midol Mari e is back at it again, lol
August 11th, 2026 at 10:36 am
Our GM belongs in the “Ring of MEDIOCRE”.
If it wasn’t for Tom Brady and his band of “merry elves” he probably would be working in Cleveland as a low level scout…
Ask the “Rock Star” GM Mark Dominik – How difficult is it to get hired after a decade of mediocre to below mediocre performance?
LOL!
August 11th, 2026 at 10:41 am
Overreaction as usual . McCollum and Morris will start the season . I’m
Sure it’s precautionary but the Joe that bitched about Dean till we got rid of him and doesn’t think Baker earned a long term contract that we should trade vita is the same one overreacting .
August 11th, 2026 at 10:46 am
@ Mad
Good morning my friend!
“May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.”
August 11th, 2026 at 10:46 am
Good CBs cost money. As I said before the off-season began they’re not spending the money needed to improve the team. Licht has wasted too much money so this is what you get. Besides, if Bowles had prime Revis he’d have him play 15 yds of the LOS. Bowles needs 11 HoFers to overcome his defensive coaching.
This is the tank year. The owners have trusted Licht and Bowles for years and spent money on extending Bucs players and paying losers like Reddick who was coming of a sackless year. No bang for bucks. The reset button has already been hit. Embrace the suck this season.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:48 am
I hear good things about Ayden Garnes! I hope he shows he can play with the big boys!!
August 11th, 2026 at 10:48 am
Well, I found just one in my notes, Keith Abney, drafted in the 5th by Detroit…..seems to be struggling a little there, but who knows, maybe its coaching….eh, just someone to watch who might be sent to PS or cut
August 11th, 2026 at 10:54 am
Yeah, i like that Mari e
August 11th, 2026 at 10:55 am
I’m tired of asking for 2 veteran CBs for the last 12 months. Trevon Diggs is at the Lions trying out, suggest Jason try to bring him in for a tryout.
What do bowles and licht see in our current CBs? Not one of them is any good, just more spin and hype. They spend most of the day in the hot tub. Wait until Burrows destroys them in the first game, then the fans will see how pathetic this secondary really is.
August 11th, 2026 at 10:56 am
@ Bee
Seattle Seahawks just brought in T. Arnold for a physical…
I’ve asked this before…
Why the heck not folks?
#1 – He has not been suspended by the NFL.
#2 – He is more talented than any CB we currently have on this roster.
#3 – He will play on a very cheap one year deal.
#4 – We all have the right to “due process” – Don’t you dare judge this young man before he has that opportunity.
#5 – Desperate times call for desperate measures.
#6 – Would T. Arnold really be any worse than A. Brown? A. Brown helped us win a SB…
August 11th, 2026 at 11:02 am
@ info
“I hear good things about Ayden Garnes”
Good and bad:
Good:
– Highly athletic
– Ran a 4.39 – 40
– Solid coverage corner
BAD:
– Undersized – 5’11” – 180 lbs
– Poor tackler – 24% missed tackle rate
– Gets dominated by more physical bigger WRs due to size
To quote the great Paul Harvey – “And now you know the rest of the story”
August 11th, 2026 at 11:03 am
@ Mad
I aim to please big boy…
August 11th, 2026 at 11:03 am
@ Marine Buc
I totally agree about the defense will struggle with our CB situation. Doesn’t matter if we pass rush and get sacks if the qb can burn CBs for TDs.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:04 am
This might be a good thing in a few ways.
They have no depth at the position, which has been evident for several months yet Bowles and Licht fail to address it. Second, McColumn on the sidelines might be a good thing. Maybe someone behind him will step up and out play him, which in my opinion would nog take much. Ax I have been saying the Bucs need a real CB. Maybe now they will get one.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:05 am
Billibuc says “Overreaction as usual . McCollum and Morris will start the season .”
SURE!!!! HaHaHaHa !!!!!!
Billi, First of all it’s Morrison not Morris. Second this “Morris” is a second year guy who can’t even get through preseason workouts without a hamstring injury. He hasn’t gotten more than a handful of preseason practices under his belt and it showed last season when he repeatedly got burned when Bowles tried to get him game experience! Hopefully Bowles learns from his mistakes! The starters will be ZM27 and JP25. Morrison will be lucky if he’s the #4 CB.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:07 am
Remember when maniacal MadMax said this…..
“We’ll be scouring the roster cuts from other teams….wish I had time to do it but my real job relies on me a lot right now”
…then proceeded right after to shoot off 4 more posts, respond to 2 and still come up with a name? That was pretty funny
What a weird I got a real job, I’m too important and I ain’t got no time flex dude 🤦♂️ What in the looney tunes is going on over there in lunatic world, hahaha!
August 11th, 2026 at 11:07 am
Do we need to post bail for Arnold? I’m for it. JL is ruining this team with inaction and cap mismanagement. No excuse for the lack of depth at ILB and CB. Rozeboom and Hayes just don’t cut it. Banking on a rookie 3rd rounder to be a star is just more wishful thinking. He has just as much chance of being JTS as he does being LVD. Nothing at all was done to shore up the CB room. Ring of Hopium GM is more like it. He’s been sitting on his hands for 5 years.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:10 am
I think only this media believes the Bucs should have starter level backups to the backups no matter the costs to the cap.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:10 am
@Not, lol….sorry, didnt mean to offend 🙂
August 11th, 2026 at 11:13 am
Guess we took Carlton Davis and Dean for granted lol least they could cover lol
August 11th, 2026 at 11:17 am
better sign T.Arnold AND Adoree Jackson
trading Vita for a CB wont help either….taking Vita off the DLine will expose the CBs further
GO BUCS!!!!
August 11th, 2026 at 11:19 am
Bucs Bowles Camp…same as it ever was. A true Buc fan is critical not a Pom Pom Girl.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:19 am
@marine buc
I’m all for it but are the check writers? What has the Bucs organization done this off-season that signals they want to win a chip this season? Or make the playoffs this season? Or be more competitive than last year?
We’ll see what happens….
August 11th, 2026 at 11:19 am
@ Bad
Nice take…
I agree 100%.
Can you believe how much money and gloss some of these individuals are granted – just to run these teams into perpetual mediocrity or worse?
I could throw darts at a wall of random pictures and do better than 60% of the current GMs.
AI will eventually take over these duties and everyone should be aware of this fact.
Pretty soon an NFL GM will only be responsible for choosing the uniforms and the flavor of “Gatorade” the team will use…
MARK THESE WORDS.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:21 am
The Bowles method will have the edge rushers dropping back to help the corners. So simple.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:28 am
@ Para
Exactly.
The NFL is all about the passing game and stopping the pass.
If your team it insufficient at stopping the pass – your team will win less games.
This isn’t Elon Musk level of thinking here folks…
I believe it is pretty basic logical thinking.
Using this info – How should we judge our current GM?
Why did our Head Coach just state – “We are trying different players at different positions”…
Because he knows this is his final season and he knows this CB position is a TOTAL TRAINWRECK right now!!!
Come on folks.
Even you can clearly see it.
In the land of the blind – the one eyed man is KING!
August 11th, 2026 at 11:32 am
No offense at all. Just an observation. Not every observation given is to be assumed an offense. It’s usually those that are easily offended that think others are as oft-offended as they are. Plus sly, you only put out that I was offended as a great deflector from the obvious observation I gave….
Aren’t you too important to your real job and with so little time that you wished you had more (your words, not mine) to be doing all this right now? You seem to be most active here….
So what was the point of the I got a real job, the job relies on ME, and you wish you had time portion? Because you seem to be proving that pushed narrative & rhetoric false or at least severely exaggerated…
It’s not the look you think it is or were going for is all there buddy
You little hard worker you!
August 11th, 2026 at 11:35 am
It looks pretty obvious that the Glazers were just not committing to ANYONE for any longer than 2-years. And, I don’t blame them under the current circumstances of recent cap mismanagement, poor moves, and a Head Coach (and GM?) on the hot seat, with a roster that is NOT a championship level group. I think it’s an obvious message being sent to both Lickt & Bowles. THIS is the team that YOU ALL decided that YOU wanted to roll with… So, here ya go! YOU got us here now, and now it’s time for YOU to get us out. Sink or Swim.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:39 am
Take Cincy and Burrow’s over on passing yards. Gonna be a bloodbath.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:42 am
Good to hear he’s standing around in sweatpants and not on a stretcher. Let’s wait for some more info before jumping to conclusions.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:46 am
Surely just trying to make Brittle Ben feel better
August 11th, 2026 at 11:50 am
Marine Buc … ‘I’ve said it once – I will say it again … If our CBs suck – this defense will suck.’
I said EXACTLY the same thing last year about the ILBs. And guess what, the defense sucked just as predicted.
Last year Jason Licht did NOTHING to shore up the ILB situation. And this year, he’s doing exactly the same NOTHING to shore up our CB situation. Even though he’s siad differently publicly, I have trouble believing that either deficiency has been OK with Todd Bowles … a defensive back by training.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:50 am
No, Joe just thinks the Bucs should have quality-level starting corners and competent backups. That really isn’t too much to ask.
August 11th, 2026 at 11:53 am
@Not, lol, you’re the sly one….well, what I meant originally was I wish I had more time to watch who other teams cut or place on PS (practice squad), see if there was a draft pick spent on them, watch some tape to evaluate and then recommend or not. Thats all. Im never too important for my Bucs, been at this for years man. But I have to make money to pay the bills, which also requires sleep, which takes away from, YES, doing what I would REALLY love to do and that is SCOUTING and decision input.
Im well known, believe me, they know me, and Im humbled by it….but in the end im just a poster putting out my thoughts and opinions….and the occasional sarcastic comments to the local trolls…..its all good. Are you not entertained?
August 11th, 2026 at 12:03 pm
We took Davis and Dean for granted lol they were at least component when on field. McCollum has been burnt toast since he got the starting role
August 11th, 2026 at 12:06 pm
It’s a preseason game. It doesn’t surprise me that if we’re thin at SB, the Bucs would not want to expose him to Jet’s players who might injure him.
August 11th, 2026 at 12:12 pm
Ayden Garnes is going to be playing a lot this year. He’s been their best CB in camp.
They need a sign a vet CB (not sure who is worth bringing in) and maybe it’s time to look into trading Vita for a starting caliber CB.
August 11th, 2026 at 12:30 pm
Arnold is out on bail and visiting teams and the Bucs should be in the market.
NFL teams have ex-cops on their security staff and they could get some intel on whether these charges may stick or not.
Arnold will be playing somewhere this year. His arraignment is in 2 days and he will waive his right to a speedy trial. Since he will be in Tampa in 2 days anyway-Just sayin………
August 11th, 2026 at 12:31 pm
@ Bee
Your response was spot on amigo…
I agree 100%.
I want to win a SB.
But it seems we are going to stive for another year of mediocrity.
SAD.
