Tristan Wirfs, Jake Browning Return From Injuries

August 17th, 2026

A couple of guys potentially critical to the Buccaneers’ success this season are back on the practice field today.

They would be All-World left tackle Tristan Wirfs and backup QB Jake Browning.

Sure, Joe hopes Browning never plays. But with Baker Mayfield’s history of playing through significant injuries and his intentional decisions to slide late, Mayfield’s backup is always a key figure.

Wirfs pulled a hamstring 20 days ago in a report-to-camp-day run. He was seen running on the sidelines publicly for the first time on Tuesday during joint practices with the Jets. He was in street clothes watching practice on Wednesday. Today, Wirfs only participated in drills.

Browning tweaked his back, per the Bucs, on Tuesday and sat out Wednesday and the Buccaneers’ preseason opener on Friday.

How long is this “Injury Charade” going to continue with Vea. Nothing but a Money Grab for guarantees getting steered by SUH of course. Let’s see if he is willing to pass on a Million dollars a week when the season starts. Call his Bluff Bucs. He is the downside of his career.

Good news! Now I immediately start to wonder if either one will play this week against the Chiefs. Preseason is strange like that. It seems to me that they may want to see more from Daniels, Chuk, Skule and Rubelt? They know what Wirfs can do

I know Tall Paul is very raw but I don’t think he embarrassed himself.

    Go Bucs!.

Run the ball down cincys throat make Burrow a spectator… 27-17 Bucs!
