Ted Hurst Thankful For Bucs Wide Receivers Room
August 17th, 2026A cool thing about the Bucs’ front office is it have assembled, for years, maybe the deepest wide receiver room in the NFL.
There isn’t one diva among them. The closest there’s been to drama coming from wide receivers, aside from Mike Evans bolting the team to take a massive paycut and pay higher state taxes, is when Chris Godwin’s wife took to Instagram griping about the way Dave Canales used him.
That’s only once since DeSean Cancer infected the Bucs locke room about a decade ago?
Joe asked rookie Ted Hurst how Bucs receivers treated him, with most knowing he could take their jobs.
“OMG, I am so thankful for these guys!” Hurst yelped. “I came in — they had open arms.
“All of these guys understand [being a rookie] where I am coming from and what I am trying to. They all are willing to help.
“On the field, off the field, they are always there for me if I need help.”
Joe thinks that’s awesome that the entire wide receiver room has Hurst’s back and is guiding him along to be an asset.
Joe asked Hurst what has been the most difficult part of his transition from Georgia State stud to a stud NFL roster. He said it isn’t so much battling NFL defensive backs; it’s the verbiage of NFL offenses, specifically Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.
“The verbiage and the [high] knowledge of this game,” Hurst said of the difference playing on the NFL level. “It’s a lot faster. You have to be more detailed. You have to be more technical.”
Also, Hurst said he has tried to tell himself not to get frustrated with mistakes because they part of the learning process.
“I know I’m going to mess up a few times but [understand] that I’m not trying to be perfect,” Hurst said.
Hurst also told Joe that, yeah, the NFL is more physical, but he is still confident he will adjust.

Cautiously optimistic about potential for high octane offense this year that Hurst can contribute to at his own pace.

Please stay healthy.
Don’t be a preseason hero like J-Mac…

You forgot the most dramatic WR of all time, AB. His meltdown was quite remarkable. Regardless, agree with your premise. Bucs WR room has been a strength for a long time. Hurst looks to be another gem.

Give him the jersey number 13.

He has the frame to be much thicker after a year or two of NFL diet and weight training.
I am not saying anything other than he will be a much thicker WR in two years

I liked this selection on the draft’s Friday night and I liked it even better this past Friday night. I don’t remember the QB’s name, (the first one)
but he stunk. I don’t think I have much reason to learn it.
