Eight years ago many NFL fans had been blasting the Pro Bowl for years. They called it a sham of a game with no defense.
The Joe typing here wasn’t on that bandwagon. In fact, the photo above is of former Bucs linebacker Kwon Alexander drillling Tyreek Hill after sprinting downfield in punt coverage in a rainstorm during the January 2018 Pro Bowl in Orlando.
Those were the days.
Alexander also drilled then-Colts tight end Jack Doyle in the first quarter of that game.
That brings Joe to yesterday’s big Pro Bowl. It’s now a flag football game that feels more a cheesy kids show on Nickelodeon.
Bucs safety Antoine Winfield was named defensive MVP. His big play was celebrated below. Wide open Ja’Marr Chase dropped a pass and Winfield caught the bobble.
Congratulations, Antoine!
Joe will keep watching the Pro Bowl because, well, it’s football. But the NFL makes it harder and harder.

Flag football is about as exciting as this up and coming season with Todd holding the reigns again for some unknown reason. Yay for this supposed good culture bucs have that isn’t about winning so excited for them to run that back again.

If you watch it, it was an easy completion to the receiver so technically Winfield did a terrible job of covering him fortunately, and the stats don’t show this, the receiver bubbled it, and then it bounced into Winfield’s hand
I still say he’s overrated

You do realize the PLAYERS don’t want to play tackle in pads in the Pro Bowl right? Nobody wants to risk injury in a meaningless game and ruin their career. The bag is a lot bigger today than it was in decades past. Although, the NFL in general is getting softer due to player health and a bad PR nightmare with CTE. There’s a lot more eyeballs, medical scrutiny, and science today than ever.
