Logan Hall Figured Out His 2023 Goal In January

July 18th, 2023

Bulked up.

Second-year defensive lineman Logan Hall was a cautionary tale of how rookies at his position often struggle.

It wasn’t like Hall, who was the first pick of the second round in 2022, was invisible. He made some plays. But the Houston product was invisible enough and would go through stretches where you wondered if he was on the gameday roster.

And you know who knew this? Hall.

Before underwear football season ended, Joe spoke with Hall about the 2023 season. Hall stuck around Tampa in the offseason and hit the Bucs’ weight room hard.

As a result, he put on some pounds, enough to push 300 pounds. That was his goal. Something he told Joe he decided to do last year.

“I stayed up here, stayed around the building,” Hall said. Adding bulk “is something I identified myself after the season. The coaches made it known [it would help].”

Hall said he “consistently” hit the Bucs’ weight room and “put on a good amount of weight.”

As far as his 2023 goal, Hall doesn’t want to have disappearing stretches. He believes he can solve that by just playing steady football.

“I flashed some good plays but I need to be more consistent all-around,” Hall said.

Hall said his decision to bulk up has so far paid off.

“The fruits of coming up here [to One Buc Palace] every day [are showing],” he said.

Good for him. Self aware. If Hall and JTS show up consistently this year. Our defense will be beast.

  2. Winny Testaverde Says:

Two last names Logan Hall should:

    1) Avoid taking out the literal centerpiece of the OL on Day 1

    2) Continue to build the next Milli Vanilli with Joey Tryon

    3) Keep on liftin’/truckin’

  3. Hodad Says:

That’s really all you can ask of the kid, he’s trying to get better. The key word is kid, what is he 21, 22? Not every rookie comes in NFL ready, and it wasn’t like he was a top five pick from Bama. We have some good young pieces up front now. Heck we have some good, and old pieces up, and down the roster. I don’t think this is going to be a 6 win team. Depending on health, and luck you need a little of both, I see 10 wins. Crazy me, but like Gruden would like to say, live in your dreams, not in your fears. Lets not forget also, the future so bright I have to wear shades!

  4. Leighroy Says:

    Be relevant?

  5. Joe in Michigan Says:

A Will Gholston-type with more pass rush? I hope so.

  6. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

LOGAN HALL HAS DONE THE RIGHT THING..HE SHOULD PUSH TO BE A STARTER THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF IT ! JOE TRYON NEEDS TO BE A ROTATIONAL PLAYER IF HIS SACK PRODUCTION DOESN’T PICK UP..WITH CALIJAH KANCEY & VITA VEA IN THE MIDDLE,THESE ENDS WILL HAVE TO PICK UP THEIR GAMES..I FEEL OUR DEFENSIVE LINE WILL BECOME ONE OF OUR STRENGTHS AGAIN ( ESPECIALLY IF WE GET “JPP” BACK ON A CHEAP DEAL ) HE’S HEALTHY NOW & READY TO PLAY LIKE HE DID OUR SUPER BOWL YEAR !

  7. BuxfaninTX Says:

His goal is to get an adults haircut 😂

  8. Dooley Says:

I’m excited for Logan Hall this season, I hope he can make a bunch of noise so you sack-lusters can leave him tf alone with your bad evaluations and room temp takes.

  9. Lt. Dan Says:

I too am excited for Hall this season. Based on him being a non factor last year and the fact that he put on some man weight this year – he feels like an extra 2023 draft pick.

  10. A Bucs Fan Says:

Is the Gaines Adam’s (RIP) comp to JTS merely production based? Or does JTS smoke too much weed and not really study football too? I really hope he’s not the Vernon Hargreaves of the D-line.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I applaud the young man……putting on weight & hitting the weights are key components to his position…….I expect it will produce results for him and the Bucs.

  12. Buc4evr Says:

Bucfanin TX, his hair is extra cushioning to prevent concussions. Lol.
Seriously, glad to see that he is doing everything to get better. Wonder what JTS has been doing in the off season? If both these guys show up this season we could have a good pass rush.

  13. DBS Says:

Happy to see they could identify something that needed to be worked on. Glad the young man took the steps necessary to try to help better himself and his game.

  14. Defense Rules Says:

Like Dooley & Lt Dan, I’m excited too to see how Hall’s obvious hard work pays off this season. I’m convinced that he (and JTS) just weren’t NFL-ready when it comes to strength (it must be tough to flash great moves when the beasts opposite you teach you what a ‘face-plant’ looks like).

  15. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Nice, does he look bigger? hopefully he makes the second year jump and pans out.

  16. Dooley Says:

    @Buc4evr

This is who JTS has been working with

  17. Hodad Says:

JTS has also been putting in the work this offseason, fingers crossed. Hope they both ball out. Add in Kancey, Ya Ya, love the name, we could be building something here. If Sir Dennis is a young David in waiting, it could really be good.

  18. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Good to hear. Both JTS and Hall has speed and size but lack power. Sound like Hall now understands this and doing something about it. Hopefully JTS did something in the offseason. It would benefit him if he could gain another 10 -20 of muscle.

Missing this pick for the reason it was missed……is mind blowing

    ^^^^^^^^
Please enlighten us on your wealth of draft knowledge…After one year in the books for these guys, who would’ve you taken? So we’ll know in a couple years if you actually know what you’re talking about.

  21. 1#bucsfan Says:

@budfaninTX how do you watch Bucs games ? Just moved to Fort Worth and idk how I will watch Bucs games.

  22. BillyBucco Says:

I just left FT Worth and ordered You Tube TV.
They have NFL Sunday Ticket for a discount right now I believe

  23. destinjohnny Says:

typed up a respond but for some reason it didn’t get posted?

  24. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

I thought he finished the season on a higher note. Him adding size and muscle should translate. Got high hopes for this player.

  25. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

1# you’ll probably have to spend the cheddar on youtube TV.

You could do something like get a NUC box mini pc with HDMI, install Winders or Ubuntu on it, run a VPN like Nord and then sign up for NFL Europe’s international game pass. Now that YouTube has the package makes that unnecessary. Although game pass has replay, condensed games, etc… Nice features if you’re into that. Not sure if YouTube’s ticket will give you all those features.

  26. captivajim Says:

he’s had a negative effect on Bucs since day 1 of last yrs training camp–its up to him to prove otherwise this yr

I agree with everything you said, but I’m wondering now…is there anything circulating in the news about JPP coming back?

  28. garro Says:

Hall at least knows that he disappeared for stretches. Hear that D White?
Love the attitude and action. Hope the weight equals strength and production.

    Go Bucs!

Thanks guys for the info. YouTube is expensive lol guess I just gotta get a loan lol
