Ryan Neal Brings The Juice

Ryan Neal

Bucs safety Ryan Neal.

Man, Chucky would have loved Ryan Neal.

The new Bucs safety by way of Seattle reminds Joe of what Chucky told players to bring juice to practice every day: juice.

Joe also knows Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht loves guys with big personalities. Woo, boy! Neal sure does have one.

Neal spoke with the local pen and mic club after underwear football practice yesterday. It was hot. Most guys were drained. It seemed Neal was still lit. He bragged about how smart Todd Bowles is and how his defense is a masterpiece.

Neal also talked about how lucky he is to be playing next to one of the best players in the game, Antoine Winfield. And he was fired up about what a great guy Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales is and how players feed off his enthusiasm and energy.

So then Joe asked Neal, since he and Canales came from Seattle and obviously Canales knew what Neal was all about, did Canales help grease the wheels for Neal to come to Tampa Bay?

Neal’s answer was pretty cool.

“I don’t know, he probably did,” Neal told Joe. “Shout out to him. If he did, man, thank you, I appreciate it.

“Me and him have a great relationship. His family is great. I love his daughter. She loves me and I love her. We’ve always been kind of cool and kind of tight.

“Canales is my guy. I’ve got a lot of love for him.”

Joe has a hunch Neal is going to be a fan favorite. Smart dude. Thoughtful guy. Huge personality. Loves football.

And, oh yeah, pretty good at playing football, too.

I’m expecting big things from the secondary this year. We have 2 top paid cbs, a seemingly stud safety from fa and ofc AWJr. If McCollum fills the slot role perfectly, like we hope, stay healthy and communicate well (seems to be the biggest issue) no reason those guys can’t dominate.

We totally lucked into getting this guy, especially at a bargain rate. Thank you, Seahawks.

He definitely had an impressive press conference. His attitude is what ‘Culture’ is built upon. He reminds me of Wirfs in that regard.

    Im liking Neal already!

  6. Tim Looten Says:

I think Hayes will play/start in the slot over the lanky McCollum, who is more of an outside guy.

What trophy is awarded for winning the table and microphone battle?

Neal also has the dopest custom cleats on the team. White shoe base with pewter accent that looks like wood and red nike checks? Where can I buy those?

  9. Mike Says:

Our secondary is really talented. Hope to see that result in a lot of INT’s this season!

Licht has done a great job with no money bringing in some quality FAs this year.

Heal tops the list….but we have Gaines, Feiller, Edmonds & McLaughlin…..

I’m encouraged by the draft class and we have a number of good UDFA prospects.

    @Tbbf

Agreed, We’ve also got Rodrigo Blankenship in the building to battle it out with McLaughlin for that kicker spot. Another area we got younger and potentially better replacing Succop.

Should be named co-captain of Defense immediately!! awesome presence and skill set… great pick up.

Well, if you’re O is leaderless and QBless, your D sure better bring “the juice.”

Winfield is great. But short and stumpy. He’s 5-9.

We really need a tall safety to play alongside him.

    Neal is 6-3.

I only wish we had signed him to a 5 year deal.

RYAN NEIL WAS A STEAL !..SO GLAD WE FINALLY FOUND A PLAYER OF HIS CALIBER TO LINE UP OPPOSITE THE SHORTER YET ALL-PRO ANTOINE WINFIELD JR, THE CORNERS ARE SOLID WITH DAVIS & DEAN..THAT NICKEL CORNER IS MY MAIN CONCERN IN THE SECONDARY ( HOPEFULLY MCCULLEM & HAYES WILL SOLIDIFY THAT POSITION), OTHERWISE, I THINK THIS DEFENSE HAS THE PERSONEL & SYSTEM TO BE THE BEST IN THE LEAGUE. I EXPECT THE PASS RUSH TO BE MUCH IMPROVED WITH THE PLAYERS WE RETAINED & THE ROOKIES WE DRAFTED & I BELIEVE WE ARE GOING TO KICK SOME ASS THIS YEAR !
