Encouraging Shaq Barrett Video

Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett

It was no surprise to see Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett working hard on the field this week at mandatory Buccaneers minicamp.

Shaq is seven-plus months removed from Achilles surgery. That’s a lot of recovery time and some NFL players come back to full contact in that time frame. Thankfully, Shaq has many more weeks to rehab and get stronger.

Today, Shaq was seen working with trainers and Joe’s good friend Rock Riley, host of The Rock Stops Here podcast, got video of Shaq (below). No, Shaq isn’t hitting anyone and isn’t involved in contact, but his visible agility is super encouraging.

Todd Bowles said today, “I’ll believe it when I see it,” when asked about Shaq being on the field for full contact in training camp. The head coach wasn’t being an ass, just sort of setting expectations when it comes to a 30 year old coming back from from major surgery.

Keep up the great work, Shaq!

  5. D-Rok Says:

Being serious for a moment, if I lost my child, I think I would spiral into deep depression. The fact that Shaq is at the facility and working is encouraging. I hope he has a good support system to lean on.

As to this video, that’s also quite encouraging!

    GO SHAQ!!!

  11. Marine Buc Says:

I hope Shaq can return to form but I have my doubts… The NFL is no place for wounded warriors… If you can’t compete at a high level you will be exposed.

I know he has been through a lot – but – where was the pool alarm? Where was the pool fence?

Multi-million dollar pool homes usually come standard with these devices for good reason. I built many high end homes in the Tampa Bay area and they all had pool alarms and or pool fences installed…

It’s unfortunate but the tragedy Shaq suffered was very preventable.

  12. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

  16. D-Rok Says:

Yo dawgz, somebody said Tommy is sight impaired and must use caps. If so, I’m cool with it, but Tommy, can you confirm?

  17. Marine Buc Says:

    @ D-Rok

“I’m cool with it, but Tommy, can you confirm?”

You have to type in all caps if what your asking is true… Silly goose.

  18. Sly Pirate Says:

I don’t know what to expect from Shaq. I could see it going a lot of different ways.

  19. D-Rok Says:

    Marine,

BWAHAHAHAHA. Jeez I didn’t think of that.

  20. D-Rok Says:

But I got ballroom dancing instead.

  23. westernbuc Says:

Should be clear we aren’t cutting him. I’ll bet he plays with his hair on fire

  24. BucsFan81 Says:

After a family tragedy and a severe injury Shaq shows up for work. A real teammate. Same thing can’t be said for Diva white who shows up and does nothing and is apparently out of shape.

  25. WVBuc Says:

Everything already said above that is positive about his rehab and his family’s loss, I 2nd and concur.

Thar covered, my eyes are questioning what they see, someone wearing a hooded sweatshirt in June in Tampa. Makes me sweat watching it in my very cool, air-conditioned bedroom.

  26. BucU Says:

Shaq has a very heavy heart but being the man he is he’s still working hard to get back with his teammates on the field. We’re all rooting for ya Shaquille.

  27. Salary Cap Hell Says:

God blesss Shaq and his Family

  28. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    What a great guy……great Buc….positive team player….loves Tampa.

I can only hope that football provides him an escape from the pain he’s had to endure with the loss of his child.

    Welcome back, Shaq!!!

My kids are grown now, and I feel the same way. Same with my wife.
