“We Left Him In There A Little Bit Longer”

December 6th, 2022

He’s back!

Playoff Lenny is back!

Joe loved what Leonard Fournette delivered tonight against the slimy Saints. Especially coming off a hip injury that needed more than two weeks to heal.

Playoff Lenny’s 81 total yards combined power and will and he shook off the rust rather quickly. He finished with a team-leading 10 carries for 49 yards, plus 6 catches for 32 yards on seven targets. Those receptions included a huge 10-yard catch on the Bucs’ second-to-last scoring drive late in the fourth quarter, and Playoff Lenny had a big 10-yard run on the game-winning drive.

Much like in Germany against Seattle, the Bucs looked like a team with a dual threat in the backfield. Too bad they waited until so late in the game to showcase themselves.

Todd Bowles implied after the game that Fournette got more touches than the Bucs planned. “We left him in there a little bit longer,” Bowles said.

Tom Brady also expressed his deep love for Playoff Lenny after the game, and noted that after Playoff Lenny’s mom and a few relatives, nobody loves Fournette more than The Goat.

The confidence flowing through both big-guns running backs tonight should boost the Bucs going forward, at least through Sunday in San Francisco.

Lenny played great tonight an helped us win.

Lenny still needs to drop some weight. Too many backfield runs for loss. I love his punishing style at time times but he’s a clear step behind the top backs on the top teams in the NFL. Very little shiftiness and twitch. He was better tonight but Rachaad White has clearly emerged as our lead RB option provided he doesn’t fumble again this year.

Still would rather play white. Great route on that td.

Lenny is great at times and just good other times, Rachaad is quite good for a rookie. happy with our backfield.

  5. Winky Says:

Lenny looked renewed, faster. I like the combo.

    What a game.

    GO BUCS!!!

Lenny and his young slo mo clone Rachaad must be put out in space as pass catchers, and with enough room to take many steps to get up to speed, weave around the stride and YAC.

That is what they are. Not feature backs. Not explosive runners who are one step and gone.

Rachaad’s big fumble just showed what happens to a long striding dancer who is too easily taken down.

  7. Tap-Out Says:

We won …so stop with the whining!

  8. kyle Says:

great job by both backs last night.

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Just get him to the end of the season and Lenny will shine. They don’t call him Payoff Lenny for nothin.

  10. D-Rok Says:

The run game was much better than I expected, thankfully.

The Bucs proved they wanted it more, but just barely. They wanted the Dub so they took it, and both backs looked decent.

That game-winner by White shows he has that “clutch gene,” and that’s good news going forward.

So happy with this win – thank you, Bucs!!!

Sometimes you just have to give the other team or player their props. Slimey Cam Jordan made a great play. It’s clear you don’t pay much attention to the game.
