Special Start For Mike Evans

October 28th, 2022

Huge numbers for Mike Evans.

Somehow the Bucs offense is miserable with Mike Evans having a standout year, one of the best eight-game starts of his career.

Through eight games — Evans has only played in seven — Evans has 39 catches for 577 yards and three touchdowns. On a per game basis, he’s on pace for 89 receptions and over 1,300 yards receiving.

Those totals would represent one of the better years among Evans’ nine in the league, and it would extend his NFL-record streak to nine consecutive seasons of 1,000 or more receiving yards to start a career.

Evans had 6 catches for 123 yards last night, but he hasn’t had a touchdown in four games and has just three this season.

Whatever Tom Brady’s problems are in the red zone, not even the presence of mighty Mike, the greatest receiver in Bucs history, has been able to fix them.

Joe sure hopes Evans stays healthy so he can rack up the numbers. And Joe prays the Bucs don’t waste a season of Evans in his prime because they can’t figure out how to play decent enough football to stay ahead of the Panthers, Falcons and Saints.

Mr. Evans, please stay healthy and stay with us….Brady is gone and it sucks. Bo Nix is up next, youll see.

Evans should have had a TD last night! Sure he has great numbers but last night he whiffed on a slant in the end zone which almost got picked and earlier he had a big drop in the 2nd quarter on a bomb that if caught would have had the Yucs almost in FG range. Evans needs to make those catches! He is becoming part of the problem as well with the drops. The lackluster attitude of Bowels and Leftwich is rubbing off on everyone.

Brady should’ve retired after the SB. Go out on top like Elway. It would’ve even been better than Elway because Tom was still playing a high level. Elway was washed and needed Davis. Brady was a member of the last great dynasty in football. He knows how hard it is to repeat than anyone else. There was no chance the Bucs would repeat last year, even with the same team that won the SB. The NFL doesn’t work like that anymore. The Rams are a prime example. Brady has an out if he wanted one. His shoulder and finger are causing accuracy issues. It has nothing to do with age IMO. You can trace the issues straight back to when those injuries occurred.

Brady’s never been in this situation and it speaks to his greatness. Us lifelong Bucs fans know this feeling all too well, and that’s why some fans need to quit acting like whiny entitled losers and stop throwing Brady under the bus. Did you really think we would win after the way we’ve been playing? This was Tom’s worst game of the year by far. He was just flat out missing on some throws.

If Tom is off, where is the run game to lean on?! The only way we have any chance of winning is on Tom’s shoulders?! The run game showed up in Dallas and just disappeared after that game.

The worst part is the rampant speculation about his personal life. No one is privy to what’s going on in his household. Sports media have grabbed ahold to any gossipy rumor that might be out there. You have credible reporters citing US Weekly as a source! Neither Tom or Gisele have said anything publicly about it, so everyone has turned into Dr. Phil evaluating his every word and body language. I applaud the Joes for sticking to football because that’s what matters. Brady’s awful throws have nothing to do with Gisele, but more to do with his bad finger and shoulder.

Bo Nix is absolute garbage. God help us if we draft him. I know what we have with Trask, he needs an opportunity.

    ^ haha ok

BucsFan13, you are absolutely correct that Brady is injured. It looks quite obvious when you look at his odd throwing mechanics in this game. Some combination of physical problem and off timing due to pressure and bad sync with his targets. He should have said farewell while hoisting the Lombardi. He still brought this team to the brink of another SB, and that heroic effort was squandered thanks to Todd Bowles. Who, instead of being fired for that one, was rewarded with a head coaching job.

The bad coaching, poor discipline and sloppy execution that were issues all of last season, that lost that playoff game vs. Rams, has continued into this season and gotten worse.

Evans is not having a “magic” season at all, no matter what the stats say. He is mentally off, just like most of his teammates. “Watching life go out of us”

  7. Bojim Says:

Hope he gets his 1000 at least.

  8. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Anyone bringing up Trask is a moron.

  9. Walter Says:

If we lose 2-3 more games can we bench Brady for Trask to see what he looks like in a real game? Not like we’d have anything to play for if we’re sitting at 3-8 or 3-9. Give Trask a 5-6 game tryout at that point.

It amazes me you fans care more about 1000 yard season more than dropping balls !!his Carolina was a season changing play not to mention he quit after the game he told you so , last night another horrible drop ball hit him in the face mask but that’s not the only issue. He refuses to try to get extra yards either going out of bounds or straight down , he cares more about that record that he does winning football games, at least three times last night he quit on routes and that’s been something that’s been happening since Brady’s been here ,?that’s why Brady shuts him outb at times. He’s far from a game changing receiver like Cooper Kupp or Justin Jefferson is a middle of the pack number one receiver

  11. Wild Bill Says:

Brady is not throwing passes like the guy who won a super bowl for us. There is something wrong either physically or mentally. Taking so many practice days off may be part of it but he threw some very bad passes last night. One late in the game hit the ground almost ten yards short of an open Evans. The opposing QB made some outstanding throws. Sad end of an Era. Sadly Brady chose to stay one year too many.

  13. LongSeason Says:

You know, it’s funny. To see these statistics, I would have thought Mike had half the catches and yards. This is how good Mike is. He has amassed these stats quietly because he is just ME13ing. Gotten to be old hat watching him.
Just think if he hadn’t dropped the sure TD pass against the Panzers. I hope Mike can shake that off and the next time he has that op he makes it.
