Rob Gronkowski’s Impact Irreplaceable

July 3rd, 2022

Potential massive loss.

If Rob Gronkowski really does go through with his retirement-maybe announcement, it’s bad news for the Bucs.

Not only are the Bucs losing a Hall of Fame tight end, it’s also at a position that is now thin as paper. Of the top-three tight ends on the roster, the Bucs only have one who has caught a pass in the NFL. Ouch!

For David Carr of NFL Network, Gronk is irreplaceable.

On “Total Access,” seen weeknights on NFL Network, Carr noted Gronk is a ferocious blocker, an excellent tight end in the passing game, and when Tom Brady needed him to be, Gronk could also line up wide in a slot position and get the job done.

Gronk’s toolbox is just way, way too big for one tight end to fill the void, Carr noted. And throw in Gronk’s locker room presence and Gronk’s loss to the Bucs will be massive.

Carr also added there is a reason Brady wanted Gronk so bad. Because the Bucs won’t find anyone close to him. You can see Carr’s full Gronk remarks in the NFL Network video below.

Its only a massive loss because Godwins out adding Gronk to the list just makes it worse.

  5. adam from ny Says:

  6. FrontFour Says:

  7. Oddball Says:

    TBBF

    Especially on a Sunday.

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

No worries GOB thinks he’s washed up so NO big loss. So TB12 is going to make a run with Evan’s, Brate, Gage (?), Miller, Johnson, Perriman, Darden and Grayson? Versus winning with Evan’s, Godwin, AB, Gronk? Not happening!!! TB12, you came out of retirement for what?

  9. DoooshLaRue Says:

I wonder what Gronk had for breakfast today and what time did he poop?
    Was it solid?
    What color?

Come on Joe, we deserve to know.

  10. Mickman Says:

Tired of all these player retiring and then coming back . Reminds me of David cone going from team to team as a hired gun to win Championships.
They always come back once they find perfect upside team like bucs. I am sure prior to playoffs Gronkowski will sign with bucs again.

No need to beg him he will do what TB wants

PERSONALLY, I’M PISSED AT ROB GRONKOSKI ( GRONK )..HE HAS A BABY RHINO NAMED AFTER HIM AT LOWRY PARK ZOO FOR GOD’S SAKE..TAMPA LOVES HIM..WHY CAN’T HE HANG IN THERE ONE MORE YEAR FOR HIS SO-CALLED BEST FRIEND TOM BRADY ?..GIVE US THE CHANCE TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL AGAIN ROB..THE TEAM NEEDS YOU..THE SAME GOES FOR ALI MARPET..THIS VERY WELL COULD BE BRADY’S LAST YEAR AS A PLAYER..LET’S MAKE HIS POSSIBLE LAST YEAR HIS BEST EVER & WIN ANOTHER SUPER BOWL FOR MY LIFETIME FAVORITE TEAM ” THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS ! LET’S SHOW THE RAMS, SAINTS & THE REST WHO THE TRUE CHAMPIONS ARE ! ! !

  12. SB~LV Says:

    Tru dat !

  13. Ellamom Says:

Did it ever occur to anyone that just maybe Gronk is not happy with the new head coach selection??? When he told his favorite barbershop that there was a good chance BA was still the head coach. The way the season ended with that terrible call on defense really stung and Bowles has taken no responsibility for that. Just saying!

  14. Alanbucsfan Says:

Gronk will compare how Bucs and Bengals are set up for playoffs at mid-season and then make a decision.

  15. SB~LV Says:

Lumbering Gronk coming back for the PO run is the beginning of a new trend, wrinkle in the way teams are going to manage their rosters going forward.

  16. DoooshLaRue Says:

    SBLV,

    I think you’re right.
    I hope you’re right.

  17. D-Rok Says:

    @SB~LV,

You could be right. It makes SOME sense to only use Gronk last half of season or playoffs. Let the team figure out how to play without him, then when he comes back and gets hurt (again), the team has already figured out how to play, and hopefully win, without him.

During his career, when teams counted on Gronk and he gets hurt, it leaves a massive hole to fill. Why not solve how to fill that hole before he’s truly “needed?” It would make for better team chemistry, IMO

  19. D-Rok Says:

Stupid duplicate comments problem, ha ha. Oh well, I said what I said.

    Twice, apparently.

    GO BUCS!!!

  20. Steve Says:

Gronk will be back. He won’t let his friend Tom B. down.

  21. MRRR Says:

I don’t blame him for retiring. He’s taken a beating his whole career. He plays 100% on every play. It takes a toll. It reminds me of when Mike Alstott retired. I didn’t want it to happen but I understood completely. Go BUCS!!!!

  22. Ash Says:

Did it occurred to anyone maybe he just retired and that’s it dude had hell of alot of injuries. Has the season started yet?

  23. sasquatch Says:

He said he retired. Until he says he’s not retired we should treat it as the final word. Do people really have nothing better to do with their time than fantasize about this shyte?

  24. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs really should resign AB to make up for Gronk not being here.

  25. sasquatch Says:

    ^^ AB 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

People have lost their frickin’ marbles.

  26. SB~LV Says:

AB is gonna be toe tagged, his story doesn’t have a happy ending.
The guy just doesn’t get life.
Oh well not every story has a happy ending.
I can’t imagine him once his money runs out.

  27. steele Says:

I agree, Sasquatch. He’s out unless and until he’s not. Period. Yes, he’s pretty irreplaceable, but they have to do something immediately. What does Coach Brady want done?

  28. Brazen Zebra Says:

Yes, irreplaceable! But, Gronk is facing the toughest challenge of his NFL carreer. Come September he has to say “No!” to the best GM in NFL football, Tom Brady. My gut says Gronk will play. He’s irreplaceable, but it’s also true that Tom and Gronk are inseparable.

  29. TOMMY MORDUE Says:

THINK ABOUT THIS ROB..DO YOU TRULY BELIEVE YOU WOULD BE A 1ST BALLOT HALL OF FAMER WHEN YOU DO RETIRE IF YOU HAD TO CATCH PASSES FROM OTHER QUARTERBACKS THAN YOUR SO-CALLED BEST FRIEND TOM BRADY…THINK ABOUT IT, LONG & HARD..DON’T LET HIM DOWN THIS YEAR,HE HELPED MAKE YOU THE GREAT TIGHT END THAT YOU ARE..

  30. Bojim Says:

Tommy. Stop yelling. Hit the ‘caps off’ key. Please. 😉

  31. sasquatch Says:

^ Based on the comments, I’m not sure he can figure out caps off.

  32. Oneilbuc Says:

Stop begging Gronk to come back if he doesn’t want to be a buc than forget him let him walk . Most of yall don’t have no pride for this team . That’s why I say this I call yall suckaneers fans and not bucs fan. Because yall keep begging players that don’t want to be here.

  33. Oneilbuc Says:

I’m sitting here watching american game on the NFL network and they are showing all the superbowls in NFL history. They are literally skipping our 2002 bucs . We are the only team they have skip . They are only playing the superbowl we won with Brady in 2020. They have no respect for our franchise or fan base . This is real disrespectful to me . This is why I say the superbowl we won in 2002 was better than the 2020 . The one in 2020 will forever be about Brady and Brady only . That’s why I can’t wait until Brady is gone and it’s not Brady fault to me but the media and other fan bases dose not respect us or our superbowls .

  34. Listnfrmafar Says:

O’Neil in 2002 your ferocious D kicked the ass of Gannon. In 2020 the D literally humiliated the best QB in the NFL. Sorry Bud, I’d take TB12 over Brad Johnson or Shaun King 1 million out of 1 million times. They aren’t playing it because of the whole Gruden issue not to degrade the Bucs. Grow up. You must be a loser because you will settle for any player on the Bucs as long as they dress for the game. You WIN SB’s by playing the best players.
