Another Selling Point To Acquire A QB

February 22nd, 2022

Dominant.

One reason Joe is so adamant the Bucs need to keep stud receiver and free agent Chris Godwin is that the more weapons the Bucs can keep from bolting in free agency, the easier it will be to lure a quarterback.

Well, here is another reason, though very overlooked.

The Bucs have a kickarse offensive line. Yeah, the Bucs could lose Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen. Joe has suggested Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht could sign Godwin, franchise Jensen and take his chances with Playoff Lenny.

If the Bucs keep Jensen, perhaps the best pass protecting offensive line will return.

Yes, right guard Alex Cappa is a free agent. But Joe if Cappa leaves, then the Bucs could retain his backup, Aaron Stinnie. Remember, Stinnie started the last three 2020 postseason games when Cappa broke his ankle, and you never knew the Bucs had a backup starting. So Joe considers Stinnie a starter as well.

Last season, no team gave up fewer sacks per play than the Bucs. And yes, this also factored in the loss to the Rams when Tristan Wirfs couldn’t play.

Trust Joe, quarterbacks pay attention to this. First, they don’t like to get buried into the turf. Second, less hits means a longer career and tens of millions more in the bank.

With an intact, powerhouse of an offensive line returning, that may be why Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson reportedly added the Bucs to his wish list of destinations.

    Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr.

Oline, WR’s, solid defense, no state income tax, beaches, massage parlors. What else could a houston QB want?

Also trask will start. Would love watson or cousins but how bad do they want to win over money is the question.

You give Gators fans a bad name.

can jensen reject the franchise offer…?

the o-line looks so dam good right about now, that jensen and cappa, and even stinnie might shop around without tb12 making them all look super sexy…

A huge part of those sacks numbers was the fact Brady released the ball so quickly that he rarely took sacks. Not saying that means the line hasn’t been top notch, but you can’t just put anyone back there and get the same results.

As for the line, I have complete faith in Licht drafting a new guard who can play from day 1 and be really really good. As for center, that’s a more difficult position to draft and play someone, but then again maybe the Notre Dame kid is ready to play. Keep in mind that Kappa looked like a bust after his rookie year, and in the preseason his 2nd year he looked terrible, but by Gawd, by week 1 of his second year, he was playing really well, and did so his entire time here.

A player can refuse to sign the offer sheet, but that means they’re not playing and not getting paid (by anyone) until they do.

    thanks rod ^^^

on another note, i posted a random post about a week ago that AB is following TB again on ig…

proof the dude is crazy, even though he basically doesn’t handle his own ig…obviously he has full access to it tho…it is his account..

so he was following brady…after jet game drops brady…a couple weeks ago follows brady again…today does a negative impact post vs the bucs and brady again – so i check and he one again has unfollowed tom…

this is a dude with a blown out brain mechanism for sure…

was following tom, then dropped, followed again…dropped tom again as of today…

tom has never wavered and has stayed following AB the whole time…

maybe tom told AB he’s not visiting the “pit” any time soon, and when he gets back to the “palace” he will drop in for mutual admiration

Deshaun Watson, if allegations hold true, would be like having another Kellen Winslow Jr on the team with lewd conduct, and indecent exposure.

They’re calling Watson a “serial predator.”

  9. Proud Bucs Fan Says:

The Homer’s will quickly realize that the o-line is overpaid and just average. That it was Brady recognition and quick release that made this o-line serviceable.

The Homer’s will try and put the blame on the one free agent that left the o-line, and how it messed up its supposed great chemistry.

But the truth was that Brady made it look better than it actually.

  10. Hodad Says:

There’s plenty of selling points, that’s not the problem. The problem is there’s no QB worth buying. We trying to look good for Watson? Right now he don’t look so good. His future is completely up in the air. If we’re banking on a guy with his legal, and ethical questions, we’re really in trouble. Plus paying him 40 mill, and giving up 3 #1s, and #2s, yeah sweet deal. When we can’t put a team around the bum would he quit on us too?

  11. SufferingSince76 Says:

Keep Jensen. He is too important to let him go.

  12. SB~LV Says:

Take the money and run Chris… and he will if he can go to a proven QB

I was thinking the same thing. Part of me wants the line to stay in tact so that people actually see this, especially Durable Donnie’s performance, but I’d rather see us draft OL, especially from Iowa.

Deshaun Watson, if allegations hold true

    ————-

But what if they’re not true… Winslow was getting criminally charged with stuff, a real creep, Watson hasn’t been criminally charged with anything, and he told a lawyer who attempted to blackmail him to go pound sand he wasn’t paying the blackmail.

For all of those already convicting Winslow, just keep that in mind, he’s literally not be criminally charged with anything – none of the 22 girls of Craigslist went to the cops, they signed on with a lawyer promising a pay day. Watson could have made this go away by paying off the ambulance chaser, but he says he did nothing wrong and wouldn’t pay. That means something to me since it’d be a lot easier to just pay up and no longer deal with any of this. But the fact none of the girls of Instagram called the cops, yet they would jump onboard a civil lawsuit where 99% of the time things are settled out of court, that says a lot.

Maybe Watson is a creep, is guilty of everything he’s assumed of and more, but I’d want to see criminal charges before I’d completely discount him, in particular in this case where everything is shady from the lawyers side.
