Add Carson Wentz To The Bucs’ Mix

February 13th, 2022

Quarterback Carson Wentz.

The pool of available quarterbacks keeps getting deeper.

For Bucs fans who just emerged from seclusion after Tampa Bay’s heartbreaking loss to the Rams three weeks ago, Tom Brady retired (then said he might play again one day), so our beloved Buccaneers need a new starting quarterback.

Several national reports today, including at ProFootballTalk.com, say the Colts will release quarterback Carson Wentz on or before March 18 if they cannot find a trade partner. A trade is unlikely because Wentz is due $28.3 million guaranteed next season if his contract his taken on by a new team.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Wentz has a Super Bowl ring (though he didn’t play in the game) and a ton of talent. However, quarterback gurus Doug Pederson (Eagles) and Frank Reich (Colts) have now given up on the 29-year-old, and he’s never recaptured the star status he had early in his career.

Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk noted that “it is possible that Wentz, the Colts and another team could all agree to a re-worked contract that makes it easier for him to be traded.”

Wentz had one of his best games last season against the Buccaneers, and he was very strong against Baltimore and San Francisco, so it’s not like he’s a stiff.

Joe wonders what the quarterback gurus at One Buc Palace think of Wentz, and if Wentz could be had on a relatively inexpensive prove-it contract. If Wentz becomes a free agent, Joe has to think Wentz would be drooling for a chance to play in Tampa and in the weakened NFC South.

brady’s time in tampa is starting to look mighty cheesy to me now

  2. Buc92’ Says:

No as a fan base we refuse to add Wentz to anything. We want Deshaun, & obviously it’s mutual as he has a no trade clause & has to agree on the destination. Texans won’t waste time talking with a team Deshaun won’t play for

    GoBucs!

  3. BringBucsBack Says:

I thought Reich loved Wentz and after only one year in Indy, Reich is giving up on him?

  4. Adrnagy Says:

Can he throw the football ? If yes .. why not.

  5. Adrnagy Says:

    2 options.
Sign a vet qb , trask will be backup.

Or trade for k. Murray /d. Watson and trade trask.

  6. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Wentz for a low pick and reworked contract would be great for a team like Denver, Saints, Pitt, Detroit (if Geoff can be moved), Giants, Jets, Browns (if Baker could be taken),

Wentz gives you a Jimmy caliber player whom is cheap and can win, but won’t be able to duel a Mahones, AR, Brady, Stafford, Allen. But can beat many moderately good QBs.

If Colts dump Wentz they are signing Brady or AR or Cousins. As they won’t cut a guy to sign a Jimmy G, and Teddy B or Winston.

    No. We don’t.

  8. lambchop Says:

I fully expect Rodgers and Carr to stay put. Wilson will most likely stay put as well, but his chances of leaving are slightly more realistic if a team offers the right amount of trade collateral. But, I think both QB and coach would rather make a run for the SB and then call it a career.

That only leaves guys who are fringe tier II and solid tier III QBs in Wentz, Jimmy GQ, Winston, Fitzmagic, Bridgewater, etc.

Another QB that may be available via trade would be Tua. I don’t think they’re sold on him in Miami.

If the Bucs are going to go after any ex-Buc to be their QB, it would be Fitzmagic over Winston. Fitzy has a beautiful deep ball. The only reason he as let go was because Winston had a fragile ego and insecure. They both play a similar style, but Fitzy has more accuracy, at least pre-lasik Winston.

  9. Adrnagy Says:

Colts are drafting pickett or willis.

  10. DingleBerry Says:

I wouldn’t mind to see us swing a trade for Jordan Love.

  11. lambchop Says:

Kyler Murray is too expensive, and the Cardinals themselves are asking him to show more leadership and maturity. Uhhh, no. We don’t need a midget Mahomes running around in the back. We still have guys, *cough*, Donovan, who don’t sustain blocks.

  12. Adrnagy Says:

With their run game and defense throwing a Rookie qb to do the same as wentz amd save $25m

  18. SKBucsFan Says:

Not sure it matters if a guy can throw. Every QB, regardless of cost is on the list apparently. Strange when we have a 2nd rounder available to play.

  19. steele Says:

Joe seems to be posting every single blowhard national sports mediot talking head rumor and speculation about Brady coming back, despite zero solid evidence behind any of them. It is completely out of control and tacky. Is Brady really a scumbag LeBron James mercenary, willing to trash the team he’s still contracted to play for, with no interest in bowing out with class? Willing to toss all goodwill?
Or is this all fake news, refusing to let the man rest?

Wentz? Add him to the long list of mediocre-but-can-start types. All parity.

  20. Mike Johnson Says:

The fact our Bucs are actively searchin all over the place lets you know just how they feel about Gabbert and Trask….very average..At best.

  25. tampabuscsbro Says:

God no… His team would have been better off throwing Eason or Ehlinger out there.

  26. WalkdaPlank Says:

Dude was having an MVP season before he got injured with the Eagles.

That being said he hasn’t come close to that level of elite QB play since his injury. Getting bounced from two teams that needed a QB when he was outed doesn’t look good for him.

He may be slightly better and cheaper than Jimmy Garbage tho

  27. allbuccedup Says:

If he gets released fine, a trade with a 28 mil hit is not worth it. Hes not that good of a QB. If the Colts are trying to dump him after one year what does that tell you.

  28. allbuccedup Says:

Look at the bright side Dean Giusti the nfl draft was more exciting in ths bad old days. Usually a top 5 or 10 pick.

  29. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Wentz is freaking terrible.
    Fragile and inaccurate.

Sh!t…..I’d consider JayMiss before Wentz and even I can’t believe I’m writing this.

    NOOO!

  30. steele Says:

If you look around the NFL, how many starting QBs are really “safe”? Look at how many have one year left on a contract, or they’re grumbling, or they’re not good.
This is the silliest silly season, and it’s just beginning.

Add all QBs to the list!!!

  31. Perimeter Blocker Says:

A team could do worse than Carson Wentz but the drop off from Brady will be significant. The defense will need to improve to compensate and help whoever the new QB is…

  32. Bigz Says:

Ugh… no. Talk about a bad contract. Mid 20s for the next 3 years. Plus, he sux.

  33. Tom Sumner Says:

    puke…backup

  34. Buc4evr Says:

Carson Wentz? Omg, give Giselle anything she wants to let Brady play one more year, but not Wentz… If the Bucs can’t bribe Giselle, then I’d rather just let Trask start….. oh how far we have sunk….

  35. BucsFan81 Says:

A lot of these options are pure garbage. It just shows how important the QB position is and how few elite QB there are in the league.

  36. Defense Rules Says:

Mike Johnson … ‘The fact our Bucs are actively searchin all over the place lets you know just how they feel about Gabbert and Trask….very average..At best.’

Not necessarily Mike. The ONLY QB on our roster is Kyle Trask, and he has yet to take any snaps under center in an NFL game. Personally think that it makes good sense for JL to scout around during this pre-FA period. The only ones who have shown ANY seriousness about other QBs for the Bucs is the MEDIA.

My preferred scenario has evolved a little over the past week or so. BUILD OUR TEAM in free agency & via the draft, fixing starting holes & key rotational spots first, then go for depth. Don’t spend a bunch of money of QBs; enter training camp with Trask, hopefully Gabbert & 1 other QB (inexpensive in any event). THEN start praying that Tom Brady likes what he sees in the Bucs by July or August, puts on his big-boy pants, and says to Giselle ‘Just ONE MORE YEAR; that’s it’.

Since his salary is already paid for 2022 (in our salary CAP), we come out smelling like a rose IF TB12 decides to un-retire. IF he opts to stay retired, we’d still have improved our core significantly with our re-signings & FA additions & draftees (hopefully) and even with a ‘new’ QB SHOULD be able to win the NFC South (hopefully again), make the playoffs. And IF those QBs (whoever) don’t work out, 2023 promises to be a good year for QBs (drafting & FAs such as Derek Carr).

What is it that our coach sometimes says? ‘No risk it; no biscuit?’ Now’s a good time for a calculated gamble.

  37. Listnfrmafar Says:

Wentz? Did Joe watch him in the Jaguar thrashing knocking them out of the playoffs? Watch Hardknocks, he seems like a annoying fk. He’s got 6-11 written all over him.

With one hour until the coronation of the LA Lakers,er, Rams begins (I am hoping for a miraculous upset worthy of 1969 Jets-Colts) (Go Bungles), I send my final lightning bolts of disgust to the officials who handed the Rams three quarters of a game, and to all responsible for the two worst defensive plays in history. I will never stop believing that had that not happened, Tom Brady and the Bucs would be on the field right now.

May Stafford, Kupp, Donald, all of them face plant today.

Level 4: QBs get the job done but can’t elevate a roster

Unknown Potential: Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Davis Mills, Tysom Hill, Zach Wilso

  50. Wild Bill Says:

The time comes when youth overtakes experience. The NFL got turned on its ass when the huge favorites and their super star quarter backs got booted out of the Super Bowl. It’s hard to even call this game a true SB. An interesting game sure. But not even close to preseason favorites. Am I excited about this game? Nope. Neither team was dominant this season. But both hit their peaks at the right time. Both had young players who improved during the long season and both teams key players stayed healthy. All the big name prognosticators have brown smelly stuff on their faces. Two long shots are in the game. It’s hard for me to feel excited, but I hope the game stays close and is reasonably exciting. As for the Bucs, too many injuries and too many past their prime.

He’d be the best qb in the division so yes we’ll take him at a salary < 30M.

I like going to the playoffs.

  54. HC Grover Says:

I too have given up on Wentz.

  55. Rod Munch Says:

Wentz, Carr, Jimmy G, they’re all the same tier of QB.

However Wentz did look amazing early in his career, he was a legit MVP caliber player, and after he got hurt, he just hasn’t been the same guy. With the Colts, he didn’t look very good, but also their o-line had a number of injuries and he always looked uncomfortable. I think he’d look a lot better for the Bucs, but he’d still make a ton of stupid mistakes at the worst times.

Carr is liked by people who look at stats and not how he actually plays. Any QB who is so worried about his stats and not getting an INT on his box score that they throw the ball out of bounds on 4th and goal to end a game, that’s not a QB I’d want. He’s also turnover prone while playing a very safe west coast offense.

Jimmy G is the least of these 3 options. People say he wins… that’s like saying Joe Flacco or Trent Dilfer wins. No, he was just the QB on a winning team. He makes big time mistakes, chokes under pressure. Will he be better than Trask? Sure. Will he win a playoff game? Unlikely.

The other QB on their tier, who wouldn’t cost anything and would be a lot cheaper is Winston. He already knows the offense, he’s well liked by the players, he’s been ultra productive in his career, and he could still easily play for another 10-15 years.

  56. BUCman Says:

Why would we even consider picking up a player who has been discarded like old gum by his two previous teams. He is damaged goods with broken confidence! We were fortunate to get Trask last year and allow him to red shirt for a year. On top of being as good or better than every QB in the draft this year he has been afforded the time to be coached up to improve on technique, learn the playbook, build chemistry with teammates, etc…….From everything I’ve heard he has been a workaholic (first in, last out) and the coaching staff seems to be very high on him. Unless Brady comes back all other options come with too many cons. Sure Arians might want to trade away all our future draft picks and pay big bucks to a proven veteran at the top of his game since he won’t be here to suffer the consequences later. Hopefully Jason Licht has more restraint and doesn’t sell the farm for instant gratification. Trask may not be the answer but it’s in our best interest to find out. Go Bucs!!

Rod Munch … ‘Carr is liked by people who look at stats and not how he actually plays’ followed by ‘He (Winston) already knows the offense, he’s well liked by the players, he’s been ultra productive in his career’.

You’re spit-ballin Mr Munch, and oh ya, blowing smoke.

    o Derek Carr (2015-2021): QB Record: 54-57 (113 games)
    … 2548-of-3857 (66.1%) … 28,430 passing yds … 172 TDs … 73 INTs (1.9%) … 4th Qtr Comebacks: 23

    o Jameis Winston (2015-2021): QB Record: 33-44 (77 games) … 1665-of-2720 (61.2%) … 20,982 passing yds … 135 TDs … 91 INTs (3.3%) … 4th Qtr Comebacks: 7

Same time period Mr Munch, Carr whoops Winston in every meaningful category. And the Raiders defenses supporting Derek Carr were just as bad as those supporting Winston (thus a similar impact on their QB record?). Derek Carr is a far better QB than Jameis Winston ever showed himself to be.

And as far as Winston knowing the offense, didn’t you conveniently forget how many INTs he threw in that offense? Does the number 30 ring a bell? And that he led a pretty good team to a 7-9 record that year? Ya, I’m sure that he’s really beloved by the players on this Super Bowl winning team. And the ‘ultra-productive’ part provided a great laugh; thank you for that. Good try though. (Nah, not really).

    Anywho, Winston’s defense while in Tampa… #32. Winston’s kicking game in Tampa… #32. Winston’s SOS… #1

How many games did Winston bring the team back only to have the defense do what they did in the Rams game? Answer, a lot.

Also, quoting stats — as I said, Carr literally appeals to dopes who read the stat sheet.

Want to see Carr, go watch, ‘Carr throws out of bounds to end game vs Titans’ — or just in general, ‘Carr throws away ball on 4th down’ and you’ll get a bunch of a responses.

Carr is a loser to appeals to the kind of people that think Ryan Smith and Chris Conte are good players. I haven’t even looked at your take on OBJ, but I’ll bet anything you said, we don’t need him. Now you’re saying you don’t want Watson, you’d rather have Trask. You have no eye for talent evaluation, you have no idea what you’re watching, it’s why you have so many terrible takes that go on year after year after year.

With the Wentz to Palmer comparison. Their size is almost identical. Their stats early in their career are very comparable. I really think he is Arians guy. I am afraid he could get hurt like Palmer did, but I think he is the best fit for Arians offense.

  110. Rod Munch Says:

    What a boring first half.

I can’t believe the Bucs have so many issues with the Rams — the Bucs are clearly better than either of these teams. Then again they’re clearly a better team than the Saints as well. But when Arians gets outcoached, he gets outcoached, bigly.

  111. Rod Munch Says:

I think the Wentz to Palmer comparison is awful. Wentz was an MVP-level guy early, looked like one of the best QBs in football, but hasn’t been the same since he got hurt. Palmer wasn’t that good early, took him a long time to figure things out, but by the end of his career was playing his best football — but he also threw 22 INTs under Arians in his first year. In that regard I think comparable, I’d expect a career high number of INT’s from whoever the Bucs get at QB, because that’s what ever QB does under Arians in their first year in this offense.

  112. Swampbuc Says:

The Bowels of Todd has no answer for the Rams. His people don’t understand their assignments. So many busts. I’ve never seen a playoff team with so many big play busts.

And then there is the thing about Cooper Kupp. He’s going to get catches and yards, but contain him. Bengals get that.

Todd’s Bowels and a puddle of drool, a retired QB and a crying Mike Evans. Thanks Todd. Your team should be playing today.

  113. Rod Munch Says:

What’s the over/under on people getting shot during the halftime show?

  114. SKBucsFan Says:

I agree Swamp. I’ve never been so bitter watching a Superbowl. If the Rams win does Bowles get a ring ?

  115. Rod Munch Says:

Even the rappers have to lipsync? That’s disgraceful.

  116. HC Grover Says:

So far Bengals smart enough not to go blitz happy and yo cove Kupp. Unlike some people.

  117. Rod Munch Says:

  118. HC Grover Says:

Is the halftime show over yet?

  119. Lesko_Brandon Says:

Lame superbowl! its like watching a bunch of oppressed gangsters singing and dancing on the middle if yhe field. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

  120. Rod Munch Says:

I liked Snoop and Dre in the 90s, but they have to be almost 60-years old by now, don’t they?

  121. HC Grover Says:

Is halftime as bad as advertised?

  122. Buc in A Says:

Game’s been meh. Hurts not seeing our boys there. Kind of crazy that next year we can be contenders again or back to the bottom of the South. So much uncertainty. Oh well, cheers boys enjoy the rest of the game.

  123. HC Grover Says:

Hope NBC loses as much as they are in the Olympics.

  124. Wild Bill Says:

@Rod Ya but how dumb was Cincy going for it on 4th and giving LA the ball at the 50. Their defense was playing great. Then they give the Rams midfield instead of punting deep. But still this is a putrid Super Bowl Hey, considering our last draft who played more or played harder than Grant Stuard? Crappy draft. No other impact players from 2021 draft. Most of them barely played at all.

It’s just a bunch of people lip-syncing, which seems worse than usual since it’s rap.

  126. Wild Bill Says:

Will rap ever fing go away.

  127. HC Grover Says:

Westwood 1 halftime is a show on Brady. They have good radio on this game.

  128. Rod Munch Says:

Hey it’s M&M who’s first big hit song was about raping a 15-year old.

But his early stuff was hilarious before he became a SJW.

  129. Swampbuc Says:

This game was going to suck regardless. The Bucs should be in it and they’re not.

Although not lost on me – Rams had two possessions at the end of the first half. One Stafford through a pick. Meaning, the DB caught the ball. Catching ball is tough for TB DBs. Then, Rams get the ball with 42 seconds left. (Oh no!). The Bengals actually covered Kupp. I know, what a concept. Can’t believe someone would actually craft a defense to limit Cooper Kupp.

Hey Todd, have you finished drooling enough yet to watch and learn?

    Too late. Thanks, Todd.

  130. Wild Bill Says:

Can’t sing but grabs his crotch constantly.

  131. PassingThru Says:

But Licht drafted QB of the future, Kyle Trask. I mean it wasn’t like the Bucs needed a CB or backup OT

  132. Wild Bill Says:

Mediocre game and stinking halftime. Are young kids watching this crap?

  133. Rod Munch Says:

I hate the fact they’re even pumping in fake cheers to go along with the lip-syncing. That was really bad – in fairness no worse than the normal crap they put on at half-time, but it was pretty bad.

Tampa within Chris or AB lost to Rams on a blown defense call. No wonder Brady was mad. This was a easy Buccaneer win.

Maybe Brady was mad at Brady for the first half 3-20 score?.

Maybe Brady was mad that the offense failed on 4th down in the second half?

    Maybe, Maybe, Maybe

Maybe Brady was only going to play 2 years like the contract he signed in 2020?

Maybe Teddy Bruschi is right, that Tom is not coming back, and had it planned before the 2021 season started?

So all the blame about the Defense blowing a call, WHAT about the sorry offense being down 3-20 iin the game?

Maybe it is a TEAM game, and a TEAM loss?

    GO BUCS!!!!

  135. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bowles obviously vacation plans this week, no one is that stupid to call an all out blitz with 26 seconds left and leave the BEST receiver in the league open. Hey Todd, how’s the HC job search going? Douche!

  136. Wild Bill Says:

I must be too freaking old for this sucko half time ghetto show. There are so many black singers with terrific singing voices why this crap?

  137. Listnfrmafar Says:

August maybe the score was 27-27 with 26 seconds left and that’s when the game was lost. That’s the facts!!!

List….The fact is the Rams D line and whooped the Bucs O-Line for most of 3 qtrs. Cannot blame the defense for the offense getting it handed to them for the second time this year by the Rams D line. The Rams owned the trenches, that’s why the Bucs got beat. The Rams were the BETTER team that day, and in week 3. The blown call by Bowles does not change the fact that the Rams owned the line of scrimmage on Offense and Defense in both games this year. Pretty simple.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  147. Rod Munch Says:

Bucs last year, in a similar situation, at GB, the Bucs go for it, get the 1st, then get a TD, basically put the game away at the half. The Rams let the Bengals keep it a one-score game.

Stafford will be the poster child. That would have made things interesting with 4th and goal at the 8. Some serious help that the Rams got in a few games this playoffs. None bigger than that weak holding call to give the Rams the win. That was sus

A very good team but got a lot of things including a Joe Burrow injury to go there way. I guess it doesn’t have to be impressive. It’s a good thing the Rams got it while they could because that window was closing fast.

  187. Rod Munch Says:

  194. Rod Munch Says:

Meh, boring game, neither team looked good, Bucs would have killed either of these two teams today.

Why in the hell Arians can’t beat the Rams or Saints, I just don’t get. The Bucs were the better team, they just got flat out outcoached. This should have been the Bucs winning back to back championships like the Lightning.

  197. Coburn Says:

Bengals blew it. It’s like… Once they were up all sense of urgency was gone.. mind you one of their scores was a missed call . Also seems like once they injured Stafford their pass rush disappeared… Like they never pressured him again

  198. Wild Bill Says:

Good night ya all the party is over for this season. Bring on the draft. Grant Studdard was a stud on kick returns. The rest of last year’s draft did squat.

  199. New England Patriots Fan Says:

That ending was so rigged. Refs quiet all day. Then kept that drive going over and over until they could get a TD after 7 attempts.

  200. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ron, early on when Ramsey got beat the refs aced the ball at the 11 yard line when receiver was never touched by Ramsey and got tackled at the 4 yd line. Cincy ended up kicking FG.

    Rod,

You’re an idiot to be hating on Burrow. He’s an amazing QB. His line let him down. More sacks given up than any other team in Super Bowl history. Dude had no time to throw downfield.

  202. Rod Munch Says:

These Rams will have to go down as one of the worst SB champions ever. Very weak win, which says a lot about why the Bengals shouldn’t have been there.

But, thanks to the missed extra point and a blatant missed face mask on the TD, the Bengals end up covering the spread.

  203. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Happy for Rams though many stars and I had a bet on them but that was such a controlled end

  205. Coburn Says:

You’re an idiot to be hating on Burrow. He’s an amazing QB. His line let him down.

    ———-

The dude is nothing special and he takes way too many sacks, which happens because he locks on to one receiver and stares them down. His stats were already nothing special, and next year, defenses are going to catch up with him – which is what happens with most QBs after they have a ‘breakout’ year.

I’m still open to being wrong, but I can’t stand all this hype, calling him the next Tom Brady — or like during the game comparing him to Montana. Give me a break, he’s more Chris Chandler than Joe Montana.

His QBR this year was 54.2, which isn’t anything special – which, to put in perspective, is a little less than what Winston had in 2019. QBR is a pretty good stat as it takes into account when you have your stats, and Burrow’s QBR backs up exactly what I see, a middle of the road QB that can have some good moments, but is generally pretty average.

Maybe I’m wrong, and he’s back here next year, but I’ll gladly take money from anyone who wants to make a bet on that.

Well the Bucs offense actually put up a ton of points and yards vs the Rams, while they never did anything vs the Saints. But I know what you mean, it’s coaching and match-ups, sometimes certain coaches have other coaches numbers. Had we played anyone else in the playoffs, other than the Rams, I’d have picked the Bucs to win. The only match-up I didn’t want was the stupid Rams, because I already knew what the outcome would be. It stinks that is the way things fell.

They most certainly belonged in the Super Bowl.
And, if not for that call on number 55 in the last minute of the game, would probably have won.

  214. Craig Says:

No, we have decent coaches who did the smart thing. They drafted Trask when he fell into their lap, let him watch Brady for a year. What more could a second year QB ask for?

Let’s see what Trask can do. I am sure the coaches did coach him, though I don’t know why he wasn’t activated this year; maybe COVID protocols?

I notice tonight that Burrow has happy feet and an odd, corkscrew long bal throw.

Could Trask be the next Burrow? Let’s roll the dice because I doubt that the Bucs can afford anyone else. Brady might come back, but not to here, and the front office isn’t going to trade him to an NFC team.

What AFC QB is worth enough to come here?

    ———

I have to disagree. They beat the Raiders, who had no business being there and still took them down to the last play of the game. They beat the Titans, who were nothing special – they got hot in the middle of the year, but by the end of the year they were mediocre. Finally the Chiefs had the game completely in hand before Mahomes had a meltdown. The Bucs don’t get credit for this, but they might have broken Mahomes.

I do think the Bengals defense is better than I thought going into the playoffs, but I don’t think their offense did much to make me think they’re a prerenal playoff team.

But it’s all about match-ups. Had the Bills not lost in OT, when they didn’t even get the ball, they would have destroyed the Bengals, and they would have destroyed the Rams. Conversely, the only team in the AFC that could have beat the Bills, was the Chiefs. Some teams just match-up well, and the only team that the Bucs matched up poorly against was the stupid Rams.

  218. Bqen green Says:

Wentz is a wretched quarterback. If by solid you mean his stool, then maybe. All he did this year was hand off. They also lost to the Jags, with a playoff game at stake. Ole ammonia brain will for sure set the single season and game interceptions records with that dope

Wentz is solid. He’s not the best but he also hasn’t had a great WR core anywhere he’s played and coaching/play calling. Calling him wretched is not accurate. Is he the best, no but he is mid tier and a possibility that with a better WR core, oline and our coaches he could be a great value.

  226. IrishTony Says:

    Rod Munch spot on!

  227. PassingThru Says:

Cinci’s OL wore down in the second half, to the surprise of no one. But what killed them was when they played a lot of zone on that last Ram scoring drive. Cooper Kupp is a very cerebral WR, he knows exactly where the seams are in zone, and he exploited them repeatedly. Cinci was more successful earlier when they were in man and doubled Kupp. And of course they went back to man on second and goal as they gambled that the Rams would attempt another inside run through the A gap, and parked an extra LB there. That left Eli Apple who is a terrible coverage CB one-on-one with Cooper Kupp, which was as disastrous as a certain defensive coordinator putting a safety on Cooper Kupp during the NFC divisional game.

I honestly the Bengals were just way too content sitting on 4 pt lead. It’s like they took no risks in second half on offense. No sense of urgency.. then again without that facemask they didn’t do a lot on offense

“Will not pay to see Wentz. Get Watson in here.”

Won’t happen. NFL will suspend him a minimum of a year, guilty or not (and with 22 cases, I really doubt he is not guilty). The NFL cares more about public appearances.

Watson won’t get a new team until after his suspension.

And the Texans can void his contract for behavior reasons.

Fortunately, we can do that AND get another QB in here.

To Bucs or any other willing group…please take Carson WENTZ from our Colts. He will try very hard to help your team …now, he might not succeed and you might become frustrated if he loses to the worst team in the NFL and creates an EPIC failure for a great City…but you will have performed a tremendous civic duty and will be rewarded for it in your afterlife. Many thanks

See what Trashk can do? It’s already been seen. Very good college QB who shined because he had exquisite talent surrounding him and a work ethic that was levels higher than his idiot teammates Flippy Franks and Emory Jones. Not exactly a high bar.

He’s like Danny Wuerfful. Except not as smart or as good. And Wuerfful did get to play in the NFL.

    Not well. At all.

But yeah, morons, wish for Trashk to start. You’ll be crying to Goobert or Grif or Trevor’s Semen or whoever we have on the roster to replace him after 6 quarters.

Yeah, the Ram DLine obliterated the Cinci OLine during the second half. Some of that was just the overwhelming physicality of that Ram DLine, magnified by that one-hour break for the half-time show. That one hour break hurts rather than helps endurance. From the eye test, the Rams also starting lining up Miller differently, not just from the end, but used him to attack the B and C gaps rather than just the D gap. That was an overload as the interior linemen didn’t have the lateral speed and ability to disengage in order to stop Miller.
