Watch John Lynch Get The Knock

February 7th, 2021

In normal years, David Baker, the president of the Pro Football Hall of Fame would knock on the hotel doors of the newly elected Hall members to welcome them to a football club where they will be remembered until the end of time.

But this year is different. This year, the vote was not done at the site of the Super Bowl. It was done virtually in mid-January. Joe cannot imagine being on a Zoom conference for over nine friggin’ hours but that’s what it took to decide the Class of 2021.

So instead of Baker knocking on the hotel doors of the newly-elected, Baker went to their homes. Lynch still has a home in San Diego and answered the door. When he saw Baker, Lynch nearly buckled. He fought back tears and had to turn away from Baker.

Lynch, of course, is the 49ers’ general manager. And they published this video last night of Lynch’s reaction answering the door for Baker.

Eight long years but he finally got in.

Now Lynch is in Tampa. He will be at the Super Bowl today along with his fellow Class of 2021, watching his beloved Bucs in their first Super Bowl since he roamed center field.

Congratulations, Mr. Lynch.

Sorry, but I was waiting for the biggest thank you of all, “Thank you, Ira, I would not be here were it not for your relentless pursuit and persuasion on my behalf.”

    Good job Ira!!!

  19. Traitor John gets in Says:

Great so the Benedict Arnold of football is in the HOF. At least if it had to happen it happened in a COVID year. That way he can’t spread his traitorish ways to anyone else.

  20. OBF Says:

    Good for him!
Wonder how he would do in today’s game?
IMO, Ronde had a better body of HOF work to present as a Buc

  21. DaBux Says:

The start of an awesome day.

  22. Pickgrin Says:

    Congrats #47.

    Well deserved honor.

  23. Poppa Rob Says:

John Lynch was no traitor! He wanted to stay in Tampa at a reduced salary but was cut. Tampa general manager Bruce Allen was the villain in that story. Lunch when on to prove in Denver how good he was and what a mistake Tampa made.

  24. webster Says:

    Ronde is next.

  25. James Marlow Says:

    Well deserved!
    47 forever in the HOF!

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    I almost cried.

These guys are special to me….almost like family.

Go Bucs!!!(kind of a big game today)

  27. bojim Says:

    Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. MadMax Says:

    Sweet!!!!!

    Congrats Mr. Lynch!

He did us a solid when he let us trade up one spot for that Wirfs pick. That was a nod to his old team….and look how great it worked out 🙂

  29. I agree with traitor John Says:

I agree with traitor John…. I’m definitely not celebrating a Bronco and a 49er getting in. Sorry dude should have retired a Buc.

  30. HeyItsAdam Says:

One of Joe’s best posts EVER.

  31. August 1976 Buc Says:

Lets set the record straight about John Lynch. If anyone remembers, John Lynch had a neck injury, and the team did not want to spend the money on a guy they thought was a huge risk. So John left, just like most would do when you feel you can still contribute on a high level but your team is not willing to give you that chance. Great player, thanks John for the years you played for the Bucs. GO BUCS!!!!!

  32. firethecannons Says:

    what about thanking Ira

  33. Rod Munch Says:

Cool video, but they need a longer version – and they need some legit highlight plays, which they won’t do since it would show Lynch destroying guys and the NFL is way to limp wristed to show that kind of violence anymore. Just think if you’re some stupid low-IQ, low-T millennial, you’d have no idea why Lynch, based on his stats and the garbage video package, is/was a HOF’er. Show the real highlight film, show the guys being knocked out and carried off the field, show him decleating guys and later in the game you see those guys getting down early and losing yards not to get hit, then you’d know why he’s in there.
