Mauling Expected

January 8th, 2021

Three months after the fact, three-time Pro Bowl receiver and NBC Sports analyst Cris Collinsworth can’t shake the vision of how the Buccaneers blitzed Aaron Rodgers “into submission” and mauled one of the NFL’s great offenses.

Collinsworth shared that sentiment with The Rich Eisen Show this week and he believes Washington quarterback Alex Smith’s fate on Saturday against the Bucs is likely to mirror what Rodgers experienced.

“I’m 99.9 percent positive they’re going to blitzing him to move [Smith] off the spot,” said Collinsworth, who doesn’t believe Smith will hold up against the onslaught because of his calf injury.

In fact, Collinsworth was clear that he thinks backup QB Taylor Heinicke could become an X-factor in the game if Smith’s lack of mobility can’t be overcome.

Yeah, Washington has serious issues against a dream team Bucs roster.

For those wondering, Collinsworth is not calling the Tampa Bay-Washington game on NBC. It’ll be Mike Tirico and Father Dungy.

We blitzed Green Bay into submission, but they were without their awesome left tackle.
It changed the game when he got hurt.

It’s the national sports media’s job every year to hype up every playoff game no matter what the odds are. It’s simply maximizing viewership and revenue. It has absolutely nothing to do with the truth.

Don’t buy into the hype the media and Redskins fans are doing their best to drum up. This is a piss poor team and they have no chance to beat the Bucs. In fact they have no chance even to keep the final score within 10 points.

The Bucs will be more than ready. They will be dominant. Maybe or maybe not in the first quarter or even perhaps the second, but by the end the score will be a blowout.

At the end of this game everyone will know the Bucs are the class of the NFC and the Skins are nothing at all.

  4. Razor Ramone Says:

    Well put FLBoy. Go Bucs!

  5. Slats Says:

Hope you are right but I see Young dominating Donovan Smith all day long unless they keep a back in to chip at him or use a 2nd TE to help. Smith wont be able to handle him one on one

  6. Bobby M. Says:

Nobody thought the Jets would beat the Browns. Nobody thought the Bengals would beat the Steelers. On any given weekend any team in the NFL can beat the other…..the margin for error is super slim. If we play like we are capable of, we’ll be fine. But if the offense comes out sputtering, this will be a dog fight similar to the Bears.

  7. pewterpirate99 Says:

I completely agree FLBoyInDallas, well said! LETS GO BUCS!!!!!!

  8. Patrickbucs Says:

Bobby, get your point. However that was without Godwin, Evan’s and on a short week. I would be shocked if we don’t put up at least 24 tomorrow. Better anyway:)

  9. Patrickbucs Says:

Chris he got hurt in the 3rd quarter, the Bucs were up 18 at half.

I expect our safeties to blitz all night……not worrying about the deep passing…..we should be able to cover their receivers with our CBs….& we will use our LBs to cover TEs & RBs…….

  11. orlbucfan Says:

Thank the football gods Cris Collingsworth won’t be doing the Bucs on the boob tube. I hate that sanctimonious cretin. He has crapped on his central FL roots since he became a big shot receiver decades ago with the Bengals. One less curse on the Bucs. I will do my usual Bucs Radio, but I do look at the tube if there are highlights. This is the Bucs so……..let the best team win tomorrow night. Go Tampa Bay!!

  13. JimBobBucsFan Says:

Chris Collingsworth has always had that persona. Kind of like Neon Deon is just who he is.

Anyone who watched last Sunday’s Washington game shouldn’t be too worried. The team that sucked, and I mean sucked, the least won.. Washington. And they were playing for the playoffs!

    GO BUCS!!!?

  16. miken Says:

That green bay game was great…. but i can’t help but think, what happens without that pock 6 that turned the game on a dime?

  17. miken Says:

@bucs1987… but isn’t he better than have Chris Myers do every game we play because we are the least desireable game of the week. My how things have changed!

  18. NoBody Says:

Well Chris@AppleRoof.. there without their all-pro left tackle again soooo

  19. unbelievable Says:

    Lol 87.

    Spot on

  20. alton green Says:

Bobby M: fantastic point but let’s go back even further. Joe ‘jelly knees. Namath beating the Colts. Broadway Joe had the worst stats of any QB to win a SB. But not on that day. Who could forget the Pat’s 18-0 season. But then came the “rumbling bumbling stumbling” Eli Manning and screwed up a perfect season. But yes lightening DOES strike twice. SO ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. You’d think I would have learned by now but here goes; The only QB that can lead the DC clowns over the Bucs is JESUS! Even then Max Kellerman will bitch and whine

  21. 813bucboi Says:

we gotta be ready to play..simple as that…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  22. Listnfrmafar Says:

WFT has the same record as.Bucs for last 7 games. I wouldn’t take them to lightly.

  23. Iamabuc Says:
