It’s A Mike Glennon Sunday!

December 6th, 2020

Mike Glennon can help the Bucs today

Joe is so fired up to watch the Jaguars-Vikings game today at 1 p.m., especially after just watching the condensed Jags-Browns game of a week ago.

Joe’s feeling a heroic Mike Glennon upset this afternoon that would help the Bucs’ playoff chances.

Glennon, the Jags quarterback and former Bucs starting QB, got his first start last Sunday since he was handed the Chicago Bears’ starting gig in 2017 (that lasted just four games).

Joe is pleased to report Glennon looked very strong in the Jags’ 27-25 loss to the 8-3 Browns, a team about to break its 17-year playoff drought.

Yeah, it helps that Glennon has a fantastic running back (hmmm, the Jags replaced Leonard Fournette with an undrafted rookie), but Glennon truly looked good and relaxed and poised against the Browns. He did not eat a sack, which stunned Joe because Glennon is damn good at getting taken to the turf.

A Vikings loss today would do wonders for the Bucs’ playoff chances.

With a 5-6 record now, Minnesota would be devastated before they face Tampa Bay next Sunday and likely booking vacations rather than getting focused for a big game in Tampa. A Vikings loss today also would allow the Bucs (7-5) a little cushion in the playoff hunt if they were to lose (gulp!) to Minnesota next Sunday.

Joe is smelling an upset today in Minnesota. Yeah, the Jaguars suck and are a 10-point underdog, but they haven’t quit and that might be enough to knock off a very inconsistent Vikings team. So pull out that dusty Glennon jersey you couldn’t sell at your garage sale and pull for the guy — or at least root for Joe who took the 10 points.

I used to call into the Chris Thomas Show and also send e-mails to his WDAE address on occasion and I sometimes offered my prognostications for the weekend and I remember one time he responded to my e-mail and said I could make a lot of coin if I simply bet the opposite of what I was sending him. I probably did bet with my heart a lot back then….

Its kind of relaxing as a Buc fan not having to worry about if the team will come out flat again, I guess us fans needed this bye as well. Anyhow I hope Joe is right about the Jags winning outright, that would definitely be a boost for the Bucs. If the Bucs are simply settling for the #6 seed then I guess they’d like the Rams to torpedo the Cards but if they think they have a shot at the top wildcard then I guess you’d want to pull for the Cards and hope the Rams lose at least one more down the stretch as the Bucs are jammed as far as tie breakers go with them…

A win by The Galloping Giraffe would be clutch indeed…big I don’t see it happening. The Panthers had the Vikes beat last week…only to watch their kicker shat down his leg at the gun.

If anything, I’m rooting for MG8 just because he was one of our guys, even if he wasn’t popular. Same goes for JW3. Just not against us.

I wish Glennon well. Hope he wins. Always liked the kid. he’s not the most talented but has made quite a career as being a backup.

The Jags have a chance today for sure. DJ Chalk is finally back and the Jags have a good running back too. This might be a fun game to watch.

Pinning our hopes on The Giraffe with the same results I see. Jags have/had a golden opportunity but Glennon being Glennon of course.
