Knocking Out The Saints

December 6th, 2020

Big game for the Bucs’ playoff picture

It’s normally impossible for the Joe to root for the Saints or Falcons, but today it’s easy because they are facing each other at 1 p.m.

Joe is all over surging Atlanta (4-7) beating New Orleans (9-2) and knocking the Saints out of the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.

The Saints lost to the Packers (8-3) earlier this year and would lose a head-to-head, playoff-seeding tiebreaker to them. The Packers (8-3) host the reeling Eagles at 4:25 p.m. Currently, the Saints hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC, which is the only team to get a playoff bye under the 2020 format.

While Joe has no expectations of the Bucs winning the NFC South, Joe wouldn’t mind getting the Saints in the first round of the playoffs. First, the Bucs wouldn’t have to deal with terrible weather, which potentially would be the case in Seattle or Green Bay. And also, Joe has no faith in Drew Brees being able to return to play this season at a high level.

Maybe Joe’s nuts, but Joe would prefer the Bucs take their playoff chances with defending gimmick QB Taysom Hill, battered Drew Brees, or the turnover machine that is the Saints’ third-string quarterback. Those options sound a lot better than Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers. And Joe would feel good about Tom Brady seeing a defense for a third time.

So Joe is raising an ice cold Big Storm beer this morning in hopes Falcons head coach Raheem Morris and playcaller Dirk Koetter can help Bucs fans for a change.

Maybe joe is crazy lol you ARE crazy!! Bucs have shown no ability to be competitive on the field or the chalkboard against the Saints. They have completely shut us down for years and you want to face them first. I get the weather thing but Brees is getting the rest he needs. Either one of their quarterbacks would destroy this defense that suddenly can’t cover anybody

The yungry falcons are going to injure taysom today Jameis will get it today mark my words lol

  3. Allbuccedup Says:

Keep in mind the Falcons with a win today would be 5-7. The Bucs are 7-5. A win out by the dixie chicks would be 9-7 that would include 2 wins against the Bucs making the Bucs 9-7 the Falcons then would have the tiebreaker. I am sorry Joe I am pulling for the Saints don’t need to give the dixie chicks and Raheem any more motivation.

    Joe

The Saints D has eaten our lunch in both games… and our Defense can’t stop a runny nose for at least half a game.

If we don’t come out with a new plan for the last quarter of the season, we may very well be sitting at home again come playoff time.

  5. All lives matter Says:

Great thinking Joe, I agree with your scenario. I would rather face a rudderless Saints team for the 3rd time this season after being swept the first 2. Chances are the Bucs would play some super inspired football avoiding a 3 game sweep.

    Brilliant!

  6. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

This is a tough one. Do the Bucs want to face a surging, suddenly confident Falcon team twice in the next month? It’s like choosing between a throat punch or kick to the berries…neither sound too good.

  7. FortMyersDave Says:

Falcons will probably go into the half with a lead and the Koetter will go turtle and either Taysom Hill or the turnover machine will win it down the stretch, you know Jameis would love to show up his old coach. Allbuccedup makes a good point about the danger of giving the ATL hope with 2 games against them down the stretch, hopefully the Saints put Koetter and Raheem out of their misery today and send the Falcons into a free fall. Anyhow the Saints still have the Chiefs to plays, lets hope they lose that one instead and maybe another one or 2 more down the stretch.

So the sheep now have to hope and pray for weak opponents and major injuries ????????? What happened to all the so-called talented roster?????? What happened to all the so-called “feathers” in the gm’s cap???????? What happened to the “A+” coaching staff that were called the “best and brightest”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The “real” fans have only seen EXCUSES, lowered expectations and lowered standards!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

Please..Our Bucs have been swashbuckled and bent over by the Saints twice this year. And if we face them the third time it will be the same . Why? because they have our number. They got a hellava pass rush and sem t even up it a notch when they play us. And we all know we got a statue of liberty at Qb. He can’t run and get out of the way. And lemme tell yas something else..We had better be ready to face them dirty birds. Their defense had markedly improved under Rah. And their offense woke up. Wanna make a statement? Then show us they can..Run the Table going into these playoffs. Then and only then will I say we got something.

    ^^^^Too bad you’re not a REAL fan!!!!!!

  11. BA4President Says:

We don’t need the Falcons getting a confidence boost before we play them twice.

  12. Beej Says:

We need to be in favor of anything that prevents us from going to Lambeau in January

  13. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I am rooting for the Saints today, because all we need to do is face an Atlanta team, with ANY chance at the playoffs.
There is already bad blood between Tampa and Atlanta because of how we did both Dirk and Raheem.
An Atlanta loss today, and any chance of them making the playoffs is pretty much over.
Even if they lose to the Saints today, and with zero playoff hopes, they are still gonna be dangerous, and far from an easy out.

    go Lions, Rams and Jaguars!

  15. Mike Johnson Says:

Say there All Lives Matter..I was a fan when you were just a twinkle in your parents eyes. Saw the Bucs play there 1st game in franchise history right there on the 50yrd line in person up close. I’m a fan. I’m just a pragmatist who..tells the truth. And that hurts when you live in an alternate universe.

  16. All lives matter Says:

    Wasn’t for you Johnson

  17. El Buco Realisto Says:

Do not take it personally Mr. Mike Johnson!!!!!!!! All lives is just mistaking “real” fans for “blind cheerleaders” again!!!!!!!!!!! And it is not his fault!!!!!!!! We blame the public education system that has let him down!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Bob in Valrico Says:

    Too Bad Choices:
    Frozen Tundra or
    Saints no 1 defense
I would lean toward Green Bay since we were more competitive against them.

  19. Rico 210 Says:

Yeah frozen tundra is my vote lol

  20. CalBucsFan Says:

Agree with Rico, I would rather see Bucs face GB over NO, Bucs can beat their defense easier and know how to defend Rodgers.

  21. CalBucsFan Says:

…besides,TB knows how to play in the cold!

  22. 941Boltsfan Says:

I’ll say the Bucs are do for a win vs. Saints however them loosing to the surging Falcons who we have yet to face and have only gotten better with Raheem at the helm, and Dirk Koetter knowing how to run that Offense makes me too nervous. Especially if the Bucs don’t either pull the shades off and we see the team that can be as opposed to the team that clearly hiding in a shadow when the lights get bright, and its time shine.

  23. gp Says:

I’m looking for a rough and tumble, no major injuries but lots of lasting bumps and bruises for both teams, and a Saints win. It would be better to save our match-up with the Saints for later in the play-offs, IMO.

  24. BucEmUp Says:

Aint gonna happen.Sean Payton gameplans to his players strenghts and against his oponents weaknesses better than any other coach in the nfl south. Mr.Delgate himself Bruce Arians isnt a coach anymore he just turns red in the face and mad when his players cannot overcome the fact that the placallin is so predictbale and ass backward the opposing team almost always.sits back and call.the plays.

Saint will win the South and play in the nfl championship
