Vic Fangio Illustrates The Bucs Problem

September 24th, 2020

The dream is coming true.

While the Buccaneers’ offense was a lethal threat last season, ranking No. 3 in the NFL in both points and total yards, this year the offense is tougher to defend. Bucs fans thought through the summer about how opposing defensive coaches wouldn’t sleep when game week with the Bucs arose.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, a defensive guru, talked about that Bucs-fan dream during a session with his local media this week.

“They’re not just the size that you mentioned, they’re good players that just happen to be tall also. They’re a problem. They have a really good group of receivers, [Chris} Godwin, [Mike] Evans, [Scotty] Miller. Then, the two tight ends that you’re alluding to — Gronk, O.J. Howard. Those are big guys who are accomplished receivers as tight ends and wide outs. They’re a tough unit to defend, and now they’ve added Fournette. They’re going to try and pound you with the running game. The more attention you pay to the running game, it opens the passing game. They’re equally adept at running and throwing. They’re a really good offense.”

“…  It doesn’t take [Tom Brady] long to learn something, I can tell you that. I think he’s doing fine. They’re happy to have him and he’ll probably get better as the season wears on as he gets more playing time. He looks pretty damn good to me still.”

Fangio should be worried. Very worried. Especially since his defense and his team is shorthanded.

The Bucs should not be playing from behind on Sunday (certainly not a significant deficit) and that means the full offensive arsenal should be at Brady’s disposal.

Hopefully Tom will keep the boys focused. This is usually the type of game we can’t keep our foot on the gas for 4 quarters.

we should continue to establish the run game vs DEN….

last season, ranking No. 3 in the NFL in both points and total yards….

    this year:#1 in both!!!!!

    BL IS WORKING MAGIC!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

I hope most of the so called ¨specialists¨or ëxperts¨take a look on what Coach Fangio has to say about the Bucs…..
To many genuises talking to much crap about Brady The Bucs Gronk and so on…!!!
ESPN FOX NFL Channel…Tabloid JOurnalism everywhere…..

  4. DoooshLaRue Says:

Sorry Vic, you lost me when you said OJ was an accomplished receiver.

  5. Swampbuc Says:

The Bucs should be worried too. Every time the Bucs take on a backup quarterback, they make him look like a cross between Joe Montana and Steve Young. Driskel was one play from beating the Steelers. One play!

He can run, and then there is dual threat Melvin Gordon and a group of receivers who are dying to show they’re just as good as the guys who are injured. I doubt any of them are soccer players or whatever Cyril Grayson was before he headed Brady’s pass out of bounds last Sunday.

  6. BuucccNASTY Says:

Ohhh. There a problem… and this weekend their YOUR problem Vic

  7. El Buco Realisto Says:

That is what the coach is supposed to say at a press conference!!!!!! Then game plan to bring pressure by and threw DS76 and sack the old cheating goat brady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not really that hard, and that is exactly what the good teams will do!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Broncos!!!!!!!!!! errrrr I mean, go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Lamarcus Says:

Last time we against Vic we put up 3 points….

  9. Defense Rules Says:

@813bucboi … “BL IS WORKING MAGIC!!!” Write that often enough bucboi and you might even start believing it. The Bucs’ offense is so stacked that I bet there’s not an OC in the NFL who wouldn’t give just about anything to coach it. Virtually every position group is stacked big-time.

You’re obviously a LOT more impressed with BL than I am, and that’s fine. I’m hoping that he’ll grow into the position and become a lot more creative in terms of play-design and play-calling. Only time will tell though.

    Knock knock, Vic……

    Who’s there?…….>The Buc Defense…

That will be your problem Sunday…..

  11. Bob in Valrico Says:

Agree with DR, still hiccups dating back to last year in the 3rd period. Brady had a 49 % quarterback rating in the third quarter last week. I for one would like to see a chunk play 2 nd and 2 not another run.
@ DR I heard you were MIA for a while, but I Didn”t see the reason . Hope all is well with you and your family.

  12. TampaTown Says:

    Justin Watson is tall too.

  13. 813bucboi Says:

    DR

    i believed it last year….

bucs offense finished #3 in points and yards in 2019….

obviously WINS are all that matters but the defense only showed up 1/2 the year combined with JW throwing picks all year….

play design and play calling are fine….the problem is execution by the players….drop passes and penalties cause those “HICCUPS”….

any OC would give about anything to coach the ravens offense,KC offense, Packers offense…they all have weapons too so whats your point?……

did you expect the offense to come and put up 30+ vs the saints and 40+ plus CAR?…..c’mon man….lol…its week2….give them time to gel…

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

The Bucs don’t have a problem. They’re just warming up.

  16. BT Says:

El Buco, if you keep using up all the exclamation points, there won’t be any for the rest of us. See?

  17. TDTB Says:

Agree with DR. BL looks like the second coming of Dirk. Uninspired play calling. If Fournette doesn’t break that run the game was a nail biter. Look what the Raiders did to NO with one good TE. We have three and they were hardly used against NO.

  18. Cainishere Says:

The team that was supposed to win between the Panthers and the Buccaneers won.
The Buccaneers will dispel all of those “Mile High” curses and win convincingly.
We should be privy to a more short game utilizing RB TE and slot receivers using our primaries more as a surprise attacks.
Let’s see how right I am shall we?
Super Bowl Dress Rehearsal 3 GO BUCS!!!!

  19. Cobraboy Says:

I’m curious, El Buco Realisto: what is it like to be constantly wrong, constantly predicting “the end is near” and it never happens?

I DO give props for being slapped down and popping back up, like one of those Bozo sock ’em clown dummies…

  20. Cobraboy Says:

    Careful.

    “On Any Given Sunday”

  21. Dreambig Says:

I hate it when people say “Oh we shouldn’t be playing from behind in this one”. Hopefully the Buccaneer players are not thinking like that. Perfect sentiment to lose by. I like how Fangio is making the Bucs sound like such a challenge. Joe Gibbs had that technique down pat. Every week during the Redskins (thats who they were back then) last Super Bowl run, they faced the scariest, most talented team in the NFL. You can’t overlook anyone in this league.

  22. Buczilla Says:

On paper, we should curb stomp this team into oblivion. In reality, it’s a trap game that we have oftentimes lost in the past. We have a lot to prove in this game.
