Too Many Drops

Ugly drop today.(Photo courtesy of Buccaneers.com.)

Can the Bucs pay Georgia to rent Todd Monken for a day a week?

The Bucs could sure use their former wide receiver coach who is now the offensive coordinator at Georgia, because all of a sudden the Bucs have the dropsies.

Damn, the Bucs dropped so many passes, you would have thought Bucs weapons had bonuses in their contracts for drops.

Shady McCoy dropped a touchdown pass — and man, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback was peeved about it.

Scotty Miller dropped a touchdown.

The immortal Cyril Grayson secured his spot on the practice squad by getting way past the defense and letting Brady hit him in the face mask with a pass.

Not sure weapons can solve catching problems in a couple of days but damn, those things cannot continue if this team hopes to play meaningful games in January.

Well maybe if Brady didn’t have weanie he could make some on target throws????????

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

This game should serve notice to all BUCS fans and the NFL that Brady has officially lost it with his poor throws and underthrows

Bucco Brucie better do something if the bucs are to have any sort of chance this season.

  3. Rod Munch Says:

It’s almost like having a 3rd NFL-level WR is a big deal… Where have I heard that before?

  4. Rod Munch Says:

    Atlanta… LOL!

  5. Casual Observer Says:

Those ugly drops weren’t Brady’s fault. He was on target most of the time.

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    OMG

how in the hell did Atlanta lose that game???????

three of them just standing around staring at that ball while one cowboy jumps on it…….lol

    krazy!!!!!!!!!!

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    41 10 without the drops

    GO BUCS

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    i still don’t understand the under-use of our TEs…..we had exactly 1 catch by a TE today…….unacceptable.

  9. Wesley Says:

Gronk dropped a big one too.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

    Anthem

BL asked do you like your crow baked or fried?

    GO BUCS

  11. Ricky Says:

Bring Jameis back for the nut huggers

  12. Arians Is Over-Rated Says:

Shady sucks! Catch the damn ball next time!

  13. Coburn Says:

Not sure what anthem was seeing. Brady looked pretty sharp tosya for the most part

  14. Rod Munch Says:

I picked the Bucs to win 48-10 before we knew Godwin was going to be out. I think with Godwin the Bucs actually get to 48, probably because they’re further ahead and the Panthers push it and give up a defensive TD.

  15. BigMacAttack Says:

Evans was money. All others couldn’t catch to save their lives. Turrrible lol

  16. Rod Munch Says:

Ricky <– triggered ex-girlfriend alert. Bucs win and this moron is still obsessed with talking about Winston.

  17. Craig Says:

Bucs took a big step today, but still have a ways to go before they get up the stairs.

Some of the drops will get straightened out when the receivers get used to Brady and Brady gets their quirks cataloged.

The weather was also a factor. Damn air is thick enough to cut with a chainsaw.

Hopefully another step closer next week.

  18. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ Tampabaybucfan

    It’s not hard to understand

You have old azz Brady who now has a weanie arm and cannot make those critical and deep passes anymore

    and

You have the worst OC Byron Suckwich in the league who is the worst at play calling.

………………..this team is loaded on offense, but yet the OC is so crappy and unimaginative that he doesn’t know how to utilize all of his talented players.

  19. IrishTony Says:

You trolls aren’t watching the same game. 2 td passes dropped today. Brady was generally accurate.

  20. BucEmUp Says:

Gronk had a horrible drop saved by a PI call.
OJ dropped an easy one for a five yard gain.
McCoy had the brutal dropped TD but also dropped a check down over the middle in the 2nd quarter.
Justin Watson needs to squeeze that ball on 3rd down in the second half (the play he got “hurt” on)
And Cyril Grayson got hit in the frickin face while wide open.

Yes Brady had a bad pick on a hurried throw, but almost half his incompletions were drops or balls that absolutely need to be caught. People (especially the national media who barely watch the games and just read the box score)need to stop trying to bury Brady. This team should only get better.

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Here’s an idea, when you’re missing a star WR, instead of throwing to a scrub who should be working at FedEX, how about throwing to one of your start TEs…

The Bucs TE’s line for today, 1 rec 11 yards.

Why doesn’t Arians use his TEs? I just don’t get it.

  22. Coburn Says:

I’ll agree Leftwich is wearing thin onnme. Got all the weapons in the world but offense seems so uninspired and vanilla. Still seem getting better every game. We start out every game well. Prob orescripted with Arians . But adjustments are terrible

  23. Coburn Says:

Actually forgot about Miller dropped TD. That makes it 3 dropped TD. No way was Grayson not going all the way

  24. JimmyJack Says:

The pass catchers suck on this team. They cant catch anything. Miller sucks. McCoy was overall suck and disapointed when it mattered. OJ was his usual suck. Nobody catches anything on this team. Dropping easy catches cost us an easy win. Tom Brady lost at least 3 TDs today because our recievers were so bad.

I was pleased by our overall play but I saw a lot of holes with fundamentals like catching the ball.

  25. Buc N A Says:

Buc Anthem should just be ignored. He/she is a pimple on the arse of real Buc fans

  26. D1 Says:

    Bench Brady for Gabbert ?

    OR

Strong armed, <25 yrs old, 1st round draft pick , and successor to TB12 Josh Rosen!

  27. Bobby M. Says:

The offense looked improved…..Brady still looks out of sorts but that will come, the improvement from last week to this week was solid. If we keep trending upward, by week 6 we should start clicking. We are going to have to find ways to win ugly games. i really liked Evans playing more of a possession receiver vs going vertical constantly. He made a lot of great catches and quick moves to beat his guy and get extra yds.

  28. JimmyJack Says:

McCoy Miller and Number 15 dropped TDs. That’s 3.
We easily could of scored 40 today and it wasnt as hard as we made it.

  29. Rod Munch Says:

Grayson wasn’t going for a TD, it would have been a nice reception to get his feet inbounds as the ball was drifting out of bounds, but it’s a catch you expect NFL WRs to make. You certainly don’t expect them to have it bounce off their head, that’s literally something that should get you cut.

This team needs Godwin back – and if they had any balls, Licht would be working the phone and trading for a 3rd WR, something he should have done over the offseason.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

Rid I liked the way we used our TEs. Ans OJ had his shot to make his impact but was unable to make the play. He did look decent on the TD run though. Gronk was blowing guys up all day….. maybe a little overpaid to be just a blocker but he’s a darn good one. No doubt.

  31. adam from ny Says:

you think brady wonders what it would be like to have adam humphries here…???

    of course it’s not happening…

just mentioning it as a sweet thought

  32. stpetebucsfan Says:

Some of you guys are freaking amazing. Everybody jumped off the ship with ONE loss last week against the 2nd best team in the league.

Now in a thread that follows a story about how many drops occurred today some idjit talks about benching Brady for a young untested guy. You really can’t make this stuff up!!!

  33. JimmyJack Says:

Number 15 let the ball hit his face and couldn’t figure out ho w.d to get his hands there. I didnt mind the idea to pull Scotty for #15 but after that 0ley they made the right call to put Scotty back in next drive

  34. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

THE most exciting thing about our win today IMHO was the emergence of Leonard Fournette.

  35. tickrdr Says:

The pass to Grayson (who?) hit him in the friggin’ helmet, and his hands didn’t touch the ball. LMAO.

    tickrdr

  36. JimmyJack Says:

StPete the drops matter. Those gotta be TDs to win big games. We dont get a rookie Car team with rookie HCs every week.

We gotta play better to beat a legit contender

  37. adam from ny Says:

scotty miller is sorta like loosie goosie like a puppet out there…all floppy in movements…it’s hard to explain…

still looks small and weak and a bit uncomfortable out there, even tho he bulked up

  38. JimmyJack Says:

Tick it’s very funny now. It was hilarious. But it’s only funny cause we win.remember that ……. .Also its Scottys fault. If he does play terrible today Grayson never gets in.

  39. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – OJ needs to be lining up at WR, said it last year, said it all offseason – the guy is bigger and faster than Evans, and can catch the ball. If all we want is some guy to block, then you just sign any scrub blocking TE.

Same for Gronk, if the guy is nothing but a blocker, then why is he here? We can get blocking TEs for nothing. Hell you can just carry an extra tackle and have them play TE if that’s all you want.

The usage of TEs is just nonsense. When you have no depth at WR, and the deepest TE group in the NFL, then you adjust the offense. Instead they just keep taking these pass catching TEs and tell them to block while putting scrubs out there running passes.

As for Scotty, his issue is the same as Hump, he might be OK as a 3rd or 4th WR, but as a starter, against starting corners, he’s just not someone that should be out there.

  40. bucnole Says:

Miller will be fine, he just needs more reps with Brady and vice versa

  41. Jersey buc Says:

Ugh. Shut up all the negative. Yes 3 pretty passes that we’re perfectly placed and dropped. Positives we looked better on O and them dropped passes were correct reads. Oh and by the way Fournette needs to be RB1!

  42. JimmyJack Says:

Rod Much how about OJ needs nothing? When he got his passes today he was terrible. Let’s try to quit giving OJ chances and how bout we sceme for McCoy instead? He’s a better weapon. And yeah he looked like a kid on his one drop but OJ has made a career of drops.

OJ drops everything. I expect Shady to bounce back. OJ not

  43. JimmyJack Says:

Oj is scared to catch in traffic. Useless

  44. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – OJ last week was the best pass catcher on the team. This week he had 4 targets, caught 1. You scheme players to their strength – you don’t put the round peg in the square hole. In total the TEs today had 5 targets, for the entire day, that is garbage when you have complete trash WRs out there Grayson.

  45. 541BucsFan Says:

Baby steps. Improvement from W1-2. Now let’s see more W2-3.

  46. BigHog Says:

BUCS came in a little bit better prepared than those Panthers ….but why are YOU PEOPLE trying to (get the rope) to Leftwitch, he calls the plays and the offense bad to execute the plays called …dropped passes and bad throws are the fault of the players…but my guess is that like a rabbit’s foot THE YOU PEOPLE MOVEMENT will keep that scapegoat in pocket!!! HENNY AND HOG….get yo-self some!!!

  47. 813bucboi Says:

BL did a great job today….Brady was off again today but yet BL found what/who works in the run game….WRs have to catch the damn ball…Scotty dropped a TD…shady dropped a TD…

As long as we have the run game working we’ll be unstoppable

    GO BUCS

  48. Buccfan37 Says:

Agree that Monken was a good coach, that he got away was a bummer.

  49. mark2001 Says:

Just so you guys know, AR in Green bay had receivers drop a number of balls today. And that is unusual. Between the lack of preseason, and the number of guys new guys that these QB’s are developing a relationship with, I don’t think it is truly unexpected. Disappointing yes,…but not unexpected.

  50. SufferingSince76 Says:

Come on, BigHog. You can do better than that. Racist talk is unnecessary.

  51. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Wow. We won and still a bunch of negatives here.

  52. firethecannons Says:

lets get Monken on a zoom call

  53. Bucsfanman Says:

TEs are running routes. Which means they are available to use. I saw a lot of plays where Gronk was blanketed by a LB/S. They simply aren’t getting open.
And, is it coincidence that there were running lanes? LBs vacating their area to cover a TE perhaps?
This notion that the TEs are not utilized in this offense is ridiculous. They have to be thrown to by the QB. They are there.
