Bucs May Have A Run Game

September 20th, 2020

Game-winner.

All offseason Joe absolutely begged the Bucs to draft and sign a running back. Joe just did not trust Ronald Jones and Joe hates the four-letter word “hope.”

Of course, the Cult of Ronald Jones came at Joe, calling Joe a hater and not understanding why Joe was not sold on a guy one fantasy football guy didn’t even rank in his top-40 running backs.

When Leonard Fournette was released by the Jags, Joe was begging and pleading for the Bucs to sign him. Now, Joe hopes Bucs fans realized why Joe wanted Fournette so bad.

Fournette is a stud talent. And one could argue he lifted the Bucs out of a potential nightmare of a choke job by sealing the Bucs’ win today at the Den of Depression.

Late in the game with a way-too-close one-score game late in the fourth quarter, Fournette took a handoff from park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and blasted up the middle, outracing the Stinking Panthers defense for a 46-yard exclamation point for the first Bucs’ win of the season.

Fournette finished with 102 yards on 12 carries almost all of them in the second half.

Between Carlton Davis and Fournette, those two cats saved the Bucs today.

And it sure smells like RoJo’s days as a starter are over. As they should be.

Thank God the Bucs were overcome with common sense and signed Fournette!

Bucco Brucie better tighten up that offense and Tell Brady to take some steroids or something to strengthen his weanie arm.

ALL GAME LONG Brady’s throws were either behind the receivers or completey off target.

This team is a .500 team all season long if Brady continues to play like he did today.

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

the ROJO experiment is officially OVER

…………and the same goes for stone hands OJ Howard too

  3. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

McCoy dropped 2 balls today too. One a sure TD.

  4. August 1976 Buc Says:

Yes they do have a run game Joe, and again brady has 3 td’s with out the drops and he still looks like he is finding his way. Fournette is the money back, a proven stud. GO BUCS!!!

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Yeah

McCoy is like Brady now……………..old and washed up

  6. ©MadMax Says:

Oh we do! Shady just needs to shake that missed catch off and be a big part of this 3 headed monster!

  7. D-Rome Says:

    RoJo is a bust.

  8. Elita Vita Says:

Thank goodness for Fournette. I also enjoyed Whitehead’s play.

  9. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ D-Rome

ROJO is a bust for sure bruh

  10. ©MadMax Says:

bucsanth must be tmax….i havent been here for a while, but i notice the signature lol

  11. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Release McCoy

  12. Elita Vita Says:

A little more practice for Shady McCoy and we will have a good 1-2 punch with Fournette leading the way!

  13. ClodHopper Says:

    Right on

  14. Bucsfan1988 Says:

    And on another note….

    How about those Falcons, BHAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAA!!!

  15. Rod Munch Says:

The Falcon’s collapse, now that was funny.

  16. 813bucboi Says:

    Anthem

    they both got Ws today

    GO BUCS

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Fournette showed me why he drove Jacksonville nuts. He was slow to make cuts and to pick holes, but when he had a chance – and didn’t just slowfoot it running sideways – he shows off his burst and speed.

Sort of what I heard from Jags fans. He’ll break a big one, but on 2nd and 2 will run sideways instead of getting the first down. That’s what I saw today.

  18. Craig Says:

The Bucs actually do know how to block for a run game. Zone blocked for all of the inside runs. Awesome.

  19. Coburn Says:

Five McCoy a break. It happens. He had some grata touches earlier in game.. he just came in real cold as they got away from him. Not sure what some see in Brady. Had some miscommunication still but stopped some absolutely beautiful passes at times.. couldn’t believe how he dropped that nxcoxy pass over the defeder like that

  20. JimmyJack Says:

RoJo was battling for his job and Leonard won it today. Ribald is now our backup. Great role for him.

There is no reason to see Fournette on the sideline next Sunday. He is our RB for 2020.

    Great game today.

  21. ElioT Says:

Finally they had some sort of a lead to where they could actually try and establish the run.

  22. Bucamania Says:

Thank you Leonard! Great block by Gronk on that run btw. Brady will get in sync with his guys. Those drops were horrendous though.

  23. ElioT Says:

I like the 1 – 2 punch of Fournette and Jones with McCoy as a situational back.

Hoping the defense keeps up the quality play and Brady gets more and more comfortable. Decent game with two perfectly thrown balls dropped in the end zone.

I’d like to see the TEs step it up. $17 million in cap hit between Gronk, Brate & OJ.

    Let’s go!

  24. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

Whitehead was a STUD today as well…

  25. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Start Fournette from now on. This team WANTS to block for him.

  26. Roster Says:

Everyone tounging Fournettes balls because he got 1/2 his yards on one run and we have a run game all the sudden? Seriously…. Run game is bad whether its the scheme (coaching) OL, TEs, RBs or all of the above. C’mon..

  27. Rod Munch Says:

ElioT – How do the TE’s “step it up” when the ball is literally not thrown their direction? The TE’s lack of production is 100% on Arians, he just doesn’t use his TE’s in the passing game. He’ll have Tyson Grayson Jobber McGillicutty II JR out there running routes, bouncing the ball of his head, but meanwhile his star TEs will be nothing but blockers.

  28. stpetebucsfan Says:

We NEED TWO RB’s. Fournette will get more reps and be the power back at the goal line but RO still has a lot to contribute.

  29. Bobby M. Says:

I know we may feel like Fournette should start, but there might be a great strategy in play with letting Rojo, time and heat wear the defense down….then send in a fresh Fournette to blast at them all 2nd half. He’s a big dude that dials up speed pretty quickly….that’s not fun to tackle later in the game. Rojo runs hard and shows flashes but he is who he is…..IMO he’s a modern day Michael Pittman. Looks the part, runs hard, but never produces a whole lot.

  30. Brett Says:

Fournette should be starting as soon as he learns the offense. RoJo and Shady do hve a role, though and i am glad they are on the team.

  31. DaBux Says:

    Bye RoJo.

You’re inability to hit the hole and gain more than 2 yards will not be missed.

    Oh yeah, and the fumbles.

  32. JayBucsBoi Says:

Let’s hope Fournette’s troubles from Jacksonville doesn’t catch up to him here. We are only a few miles away. And Joe, you might want to look into this. A source tells me these are the type of troubles that can end a career ……….

  33. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ JayBucsBoi

    WTF R U talking about?????

    what troubles?????

  34. unbelievable Says:

    @Roster nailed it.

Take away that 1 run and he was averaging less than RoJo.

I don’t really care who is our feature back as long as they can run it, but the problems haven’t been the RBs, it’s been the o-line (who Joe continues to make excuses for every week)

  35. Howard Cosell Says:

Brady was PISSED when Rojo dropped that handoff!

  36. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard suspects there will be no talk of “stale biscuits” or “old goats” for at least 1 week!…..LOL, JBF troll free zone

  37. bojim Says:

anthem. This post is about Fournette.

  38. JimmyJack Says:

Bucsmania great look in that block. And I’ll give it to Hiward in our goaline TD. He carveeca great path. Great block by Howard today.

  39. JimmyJack Says:

    Typos**

  40. Oneilbucs Says:

This all we need to do I told all yall that if we can run the ball and play defense we can beat any team .

  41. Hurricane MDC Says:

Your stupid monikers make this site almost unbearable.

  42. Joe Says:

Your stupid monikers make this site almost unbearable.

Been doing this for 12 years. If it is so horrible, why has Joe grown to be the largest site dedicated to the Bucs?🤷‍♂️

  43. Oneilbucs Says:

Man I think if we can give Rosen these kind of plays with a running game he will be our next quarterback . Let’s go Bucs I’m so proud of our defense so far !!!

  44. WillieG Says:

Ro Jo should be No Go

  45. Alanbucsfan Says:

On Fournette’s long run, that was the best OLine blocking the Bucs have executed since DMartin’s heyday.
Fortunately for Bucs, there was no safety or LB once he hit the hole and Fournette’s speed did the rest.

  46. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Roster is right, re: Fournette.

Glad we won, but as usual even a win is painful to watch. Hoping for more improvement next week. This team certainly does not look like a well oiled machine.

  47. james west Says:

happy for leonard, and i am hoping he starts from now on, rojo sorry dude but you just have not produced imho he can be a role player and relief guy but founette gotta be the man from here on in

  48. Ivan The Insider Says:

The comment about MONIKERS on this site is spot-on. Especially when the one you overuse for Tom Brady A) Isn’t even humorous and B) is all negatives, it doesn’t inspire confidence for fans.

Amazing how Winston’s moniker was some Super Positive nickname yet Brady’s is all negative.

    As for Fournette…

The NFL isn’t a FINESSE running league. There are very few teams with small, slasher-type backs having success. The only ones that are typically are some of the top, wide-open passing offenses (Chiefs, Saints, etc.)

The Bucs need a POUND IT, strong RB to wear down Defenses. Fournette is that guy, not RoJo.

McCoy had some great 3rd down reception pickups today. He contributed well. The dropped TD overshadowed his solid game. He’ll be fine, hence the reason you saw Arians comforting him after the drop.

  49. Buccfan37 Says:

I’d give Fournette the game ball for nailing the clincher.

  50. Piratic Says:

    There is no god.

  51. Jmarkbuc Says:

Let’s keep in mind this was an undermanned Carolina panthers defense.

    We didn’t just beat the 85 Bears…

  52. Oneilbucs Says:

jmarkbuc I understand what you are saying bro but our defense played good . And we beat a NFL team so it counts I remember the days this would have been a loss the pass 4 years . So I’m going to enjoy every win we get . Go bucs ….

  53. Jeffbuc Says:

Do some of you people even understand football. Sayin if you take away his one long game winning touchdown he would have had an ok day. That’s what great running backs do they take it to the house on long runs. You think Barry Sanders just got all those yards 5 yards at at time. No he broke 50 plus yard runs all the time. That’s the difference from good and great backs. The good backs get a 20 yard gain here and there and the greats take it to the house 40 plus yards

  54. firethecannons Says:

Yeah I was stoked to see Bucs sign Fournette–major steal/pickup dude is a 1st round pick at #4 overall and is what 25y/o? unreal! anyway I kinda like him in the second half when defenses are worn out–he overpowers them–sweet to watch!

  55. SOEbuc Says:

I don’t recall any articles of how terrible RoJo would be Joe??? Maybe you can help me recall??? I know you wanted a RB and were excited about Fournette signing. I read and post a lot of JBF and when everyone was S’ing RoJo’s D (7 for 23 yards, a fumble, and an easy TD against a crappy team) I seemed to be the only one saying Fournette would be the #1 RB by week three.

  56. matthew veal Says:

Joe is absolutely right and has been in this matter for quite some time. I’ve argued with him on other things but give the man cr fit he is right on this and other things too

  57. «Delusional Intelligence» Says:

Maybe that play becomes the Bread n’ Butter run play The Sage keeps bringing up in the podcast. Funny, I thought of Joe when Fournette was running to the endzone.

  58. Derrick Brooks GOAT LB Says:

Why does it have to be one or the other with RoJo or Fournette? Use them both and mix in Shady. Keep teams guessing. Next game give Fournette more touches early then RoJo late. Need to do everything we can do create more time at the line for the downfield routes to develop. It doesn’t have to be #1 and #2. 1a, 1b and even c will be fine and that could change by game and situation.

  59. Buczilla Says:

First good runner we’ve had since muscle hamster was in his prime. Rojo’s days are numbered with this team.
