Ronde’s Breakdown

September 23rd, 2020

“Jason, you have much better taste in safeties than you do sports coats.”

Former Bucs great RondΓ© Barber is no longer working for FOX Sports. That doesn’t mean he isn’t breaking down film.

In a video produced by the Bucs, Barber shows fans what he likes from the Bucs’ win on Sunday over the Stinking Panthers.

And remember how Joe has referenced how Antoine Winfield reminds Joe of Barber, the way he blitzes and plays inside the box? Well, Barber absolutely loves the rookie and specifically highlights him on several plays.

In the video, Barber noted that despite playing in his second NFL game, he is making plays that can be used in football clinic videos. Barber also applauded Winfield for being “ball aware,” which is a fancy term for “ballhawk.”

Anyway, it is very cool to see one of the best who ever played the game rave about a talented Bucs rookie.

Good stuff Joe – Winfield does carry himself differently. I read “somewhere” that he is up for rookie of the week.

  2. WillieG Says:

    Ronde also praised Hargreaves

  3. Rayjay1122 Says:

That was really a nicely put together film breakdown. Our defense is really for the most part a very pleasant surprise so far. Hopefully we bury the Broncos.

We can run the ball now!πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸ˜

Rhonde was good ‘in the booth’. Shame he no longer calls games for Fox.

  6. PSL Bob Says:

Love the film breakdown! Sometimes the formation and set jargon is beyond me, but Ronde educates. For many of us casual fans, it’s all about the end results of running and passing, but seeing how those passes and runs are set up and adjustments made at the line of scrimmage is very cool!

  7. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Hopefully soon our offense can reward the defense for a 5 sack 4 turnover day by burying the other team. We should have buried the stinkin Panthers

  8. Snook Says:

How is he still not working for Fox?

  9. Allbuccedup Says:

Hopefully in the 2021 draft we can find another good safety to pair him with.

Ronde is definitely one of my all time favorite Bucs and the Film Session is a great breakdown. Winfield looks to be special – I liked the draft pick initially – but he’s already showing his ability on the field. GO BUCS!

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

Winfield Jr is playing at pro bowl level-
Had a Strip sack fumble recovered by JPP and made an open field tackle on McCaffrey which saved a td.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

    kid has great bloodlines…

not surprised he’s this good this fast….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. AJ Says:

What happened to his gig @ Fox??? Thought he was on his way as a commentator…

  14. D-Rome Says:

Great breakdown. Also, I’m curious about his gig on Fox just like AJ above because I also thought he was on his way to being a top flight commentator.

  15. mark2001 Says:

Lynch was a great player, but in my mind no one deserves to be the next HOF Buc more than Ronde. What bigger complement could a guy like Winfield receive that what Ronde just said? Wow… very impressive, from a guy that knew his craft as well as anyone.

  16. unbelievable Says:

I commented about this yesterday on the Antoine Winfield story.

Check out that block from Evans on Fournette’s TD run at the end… beautiful!

And YES- Ronde should 100000% be in the HOF. Dude changed the cornerback position forever and still has stats no one else has ever matched + a ring!

  17. Joe Says:

Can’t answer for Ronde as to why he’s not working for FOX. It could be Ronde just wants to relax with his family and not be gone 17 or 18 weekends a year.

Have not read one thing that Ronde was axed.

  18. Bucamania Says:

AW playing great. Whitehead was MUCH better this week. Great tandem.

  19. Caleb Lee Says:

My girlfriend is a Golden Gopher alumni and watched him play there. She’s finally excited to get a Bucs jersey for once (If I don’t get one first lol)

I don’t like the word HOPE either.. but I’m truly hoping to watch a great defense for at least a few years. The games are so much more fun to watch now. Get back to BUC BALL!
