“I Promise You It Bothers Tom Brady”

September 23rd, 2020

Former Bucs QB appalled by Bucco Bruce Arians.

Sometimes, no matter how smart someone may be, they say something so stupid and outrageous they lose all forms of credibility.

And that’s the way former Bucs quarterback, former NFL journeyman signal-caller Dan Orlovsky is with Joe.

Orlovsky is pretty good on TV and his analysis usually is interesting. But one morning Orlovsky passionately said he would rather have MVP Mitch Trubisky than Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

At that moment, the toggle switch in Joe’s head turned off and since, just about anything Orlovsky says falls on deaf ears with Joe.

However, this video found its way into Joe’s Twitter timeline. Here, Orlovsky is seemingly outraged that Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said he’s not throwing much to tight ends and that his offense is not built on throwing to tight ends.

“(Sighs) This one bothers me,” Orlovsky began. “So why did you bring in Gronk? First of all, why did you bring Gronk in?”

Well, Joe can answer this with a relative degree of confidence. No one has told Joe this, but Joe is willing to bet a case of cold Bromosa beer from Big Storm Brewing and a plate of wings from Hooters that the Bucs traded for foot-rubbing tight end Rob Gronkowski as part of a package deal to lure/appease park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring quarterback Tom Brady.

Continued Orlovsky, “And why did you decide to keep O.J. Howard and not move him for another receiver?”

Howard is still somewhat inexpensive for a fourth-year tight end who was a first-round pick. Here again, with all the rumors flying around about Howard on the trade block long before the Bucs signed Brady, Joe will guess either the Bucs were shopping Howard or teams were calling about him. But Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht’s ransom for Howard was too steep.

Would Joe like to see the tight ends worked into the offense more? Yeah, sure. But it is not like Arians offense was/is horrible.

Remember, a quarterback so many couldn’t wait to run out of town shattered franchise passing records last year becoming one of only eight humans who ever walked the face of the earth to throw for 5,000 yards in a season. That’s insane production.

And hey, if Gronk has slipped badly, and clearly Howard has yet to live up to his pre-draft hype (he didn’t exactly set the world on fire when he played for the guy that all but demanded the team draft him, Dirk Koetter), then why would you want to focus on getting the ball to a couple of guys who are either past their primes or have underwhelmed?

Look, the Bucs have two of the top-ten receivers in the NFL, Mike Evans (who is on a Hall of Fame track) and Chris Godwin. Why would you want to decrease their targets and instead increase targets to Gronk/Howard?

That doesn’t make a lick of sense to Joe. Frankly, Joe would rather have a position well-stocked on a team, even if that position is not used, rather than a bunch of AAF stiffs at the position.

“This is what bothers me,” Orlovsky continued. “And I promise you it bothers Tom Brady hearing that.”

Now hold up. Joe doesn’t think for a second that the Bucs are doing anything on offense that Brady doesn’t want to do. You really believe Arians hears Brady say, “I don’t like that Bruce,” and Arians responds, “F’ you, you’ll run it or I will bring in Gabbert!” C’mon.

Besides, does anyone in their right mind think Brady won’t throw to a tight end if he is open? We’re not talking about some rookie quarterback from East Cornfield State.

You can see Orlovsky’s full take in the BSPN video below.

    Unbelievable….WinSTUNNED again…he’s holding a clipboard as a third stringer!
Once again, buccaneer failure and garbage…end of story…spin your yards story all you want lol

  2. Fred mcneil Says:

It will probably just happen out of the blue one day when nobody expects it.

Bucs failure. Spin your yards story all you want lol

  4. SufferingSince76 Says:

Always better to have too many weapons instead of too few. While I would like the TE’s to be more involved, I can’t argue much as long as it works.

  5. Bucsfanman Says:

I would argue vehemently that it does NOT bother Brady. Because eventually, he’s going to throw to an open TE and going to make a play.
The TEs are not just sitting on the LOS on pass plays, they’re running routes. They will get their opportunities. Pipe down Orlovsky!

  6. John Says:

Gronk is a step slow right now.. Give him a few more games, he will get there.

  7. Ron says Says:

As our options become more defined at wide receiver and running back which they are starting to be with Mike having a good day and Fournette starting to take over the running game. Godwin coming back and Miller progressing this will open up the TE position and make it a valid option as the defenses as starting to spread their attention and will start leaving the middle open. Gronk is definitely getting up to speed and not taking as many low blocks or tackles right now and getting football tough in the trenches, he will be ready when he is needed. All good teams utilize the TE in the course of a season and we are still developing as a team.

  8. Señor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

Who is the only man to consistently hold Michael Jordan to under 20ppg?

    Dean Smith…

Who is the only man to shut down future HOFer Gronk?

    Bruce Arians…

  9. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

Just read an article that quoted Billicheat as saying that he changed his offense to accommodate Cam Newton. BA says that Brady has to change his thinking to accommodate BA’s offense. Looks to me like BA’s plan is far behind Billicheat’s, because it looks Cam Newton has been in the Patriots offense for a while. And we all know how out of kilter the Buc’s offense has been. Of course it has to go from BA to BL to TB. So that might be a problem too.

  10. Alanbucsfan Says:

Gronk is drawing double coverage when he runs passing routes.
He was productive on Sunday- threw a great block on ROjo’s td, drew a pass interference penalty, and recovered an important onside kick late in the game.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It’s not an unreasonable suggestion that Trubiski is more valuable than JW….after all the Bears are starting Trubiski & the Saints have JW 2nd on the bench to Brees.
It is also not unreasonable that with the acquisition of Gronk that either OJ or Brate should be traded.

Now, do I agree with him, no…..but his opinions are certainly not absurd.

Does it bother Brady……no…..what bothers Brady is likely Brady. That’s what most great players focus on.

  12. Bruce Blahak Says:

    didn’t like my post? …shorten it up for ya…WinSTUNNED is a 3rd string QB….

  13. LJS4th Says:

We should have traded OJ and not waste money on Gronk but I understand Joe’s theory on the Bromance with Brady. It has been unfortunate that Brate has been kept on the sidelines he has always been a solid TD scorer in the redzone. We just have to wait until the trade deadline to see what happens.

  14. Ndog Says:

You know what bothers me is that these fans and is organization are having a clear double standard. Exhibit A last year Jameis throws a beautiful ball to Mike Evans I’m the Giants game to put us in a position to win the game with a chip shot FG and the ball might have been about half a yard short, fast forward 6 months later I’m hearing about how inaccurate he was and how it costs us the game. Fast forward back to last Sunday when Tom Brady gets a flea flicker, which by the way was never called one time in Jameis’s 5 years here, and he throws it about 3 yards short or to the point where Justin Watson has to stop come back on one knee to catch the ball yet there’s not been one word about Tom Brady’s lack of accuracy and that hurting the team interesting isn’t it double standard much.

Face it folks we downgraded at QB, you people are just to bias to admit it and oh yeah to admit you were dead wrong.

So far we have seen a lack of mobility, lack of accuracy, lack of grit ( per the head coach), AND OH YEAH TOs from this QB.

  16. Bird Says:

    Loser^^^^

Its funny cause its all he can talk about and he blasts other posters when they talk about jameis ….when article about running backs or special teams For example

Ndog is the biggest panzy on the planet
I know people say to ignore him.

I disagree. Keep it up. He deserves it. I mean what a tool. He is actually rootimg for brady and bucs to fail so jameis looks good

I laugh just thinking about what he really thinks of jameis
I mean everyone knows what he really wants to do w jameis

  17. ClodHopper Says:

According to Pro Football Reference, in 2007, the Patriots undefeated season, Brady threw more passes to 3 wrs and a RB (Welker, Moss, Stallworth, and Faulk) than the best TE Ben Watson. Brady is mentally flexible. Putting his talents in a tiny box is stupid. Brady don’t care about the title of his weapons. He cares about their talents.

  18. Show Me the TDs Says:

The Bucs should have made Gronk a $10M assistant Tight Ends coach and used the cap space and roster spot for a greater need. Winning is about production. Just look around the league. Ravens, Chiefs, Seahawks, etc.

  19. All lives matter Says:

…and I will add that they’re all still learning the nuances of playing in an Arians offense. Brady, Gronk, and even OJ to a point who is only in his second season of BA’s offense. We’ll start seeing them settle in soon and making plays. TB has plenty of targets to feed as he see’s fit, now it just needs the game plan to come together. Keep ’em guessing I always say, we want mismatches.

  20. coverdeuce Says:

McAfee brought up Brady’s ability to incorporate new plays the other day e.g. when Manning taught Brady a play that the Colts used to run to Dallas Clark all the time while they were on an off-season fishing trip together. Brady and Gronk later torched the Colts with the exact play the following season. Point being, I don’t think it’s Brady that has the issue with adjusting to new ideas. I just wish they’d have spent that money on a vet corner or a better LT if Bruce wasn’t going to figure out a few ways to get the most dynamic TE in NFL history involved.

  21. Allbuccedup Says:

Sorry Dan O. thinks hes right and everyone else is wrong. Probably why he didn’t have a stellar NFL career.

  22. Steven007 Says:

Pup, That’s silly. Brady had pressure in his face and obviously didn’t get enough into that throw. End of story. Yes it would have been an easy touchdown if he didn’t have pressure and was able to make the throw he would normally make. Plus he completed it. And we won. Wrong narrative. Again.

  23. Usedtocould Says:

    Ndog, let’s face it, I don’t care.

  24. Bradinator Says:

Offense is still a work in progress with no Pre-season to build on, that much is obvious. Gronk is a whole new offense, so he has to figure it out too. We’re 2 games in. Get a grip!

  25. SmoothBayRider Says:

NDog , when are we gonna square up and let them hands go ?

  26. Cobraboy Says:

Besides the pressure in his face, Brady may not have gotten the laces on the ball when he threw. Try flinging a football with juice and accuracy without your fingers on the laces…

  27. Oneilbucs Says:

Yall need to stop making excuses for Brady because the new playbook is not a excuse . Last year was Jamies first time with the playbook and yall never made that excuse for him . The no preseason is not a excuse because look Murray in Arizona with Hopkins . Plus Brady has a running game so far wich Jamies never had . I get it yall hate the kid but as long as we don’t have to depend on Brady to win games we are good . This is a 1 year window yall might as well know that Brady will not be back next year . He’s looking old and he’s playing like a old man but that’s ok as long as he’s being a game manager . But I knew he was not going to put up all these points and yards like yall were saying over the summer . I told yall the last 2 years Brady looked bad he was being carried with a good defense and a running game . And last year when they couldn’t run the ball Brady looked bad .

  28. 813bucboi Says:

if brady isnt hitting the TEs by week12, then publish this article….

    ITS WEEK3!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  29. Big_Buc$ Says:

On the flea flicker play there was no pressure at all on Brady. He had time to reset and throw the ball. Bottom line it was a bad throw. No Excuses 2020. Brady is consider the Goat so he doesn’t get a pass. He should be able to make every throw. With that being said lets just hope this offensive line can still block this week and for god sake please do not let a backup QB light this defense up. If you Brady had pressure look at the link below at 2:10 mark.

  30. RustyRhinos Says:

Ndog one accurate pass does not make up a season full of M.O. of Winston. To high(6’5″ WR) To low (5’11” WR) to far in front or to far behind (all 6’4″ or taller TE). Winston does have a good intentions with the ball, it is and always was his ball placement that makes his efforts pale in comparison to your beliefs in his exceptionalism. How many times have we seen him over throw Evans? Or put the ball out of reach for our player but right into the numbers of the opponent? Good luck in your future Winston. I do not care about his play anymore. He is a Saint.
    Bring on the Broncos!

  31. Issac haggins Says:

GoodOne with the Dean Smith !! Maybe Johnny Majors is helping the TE room from above !!
BTW …..I see MJ went nascar , now was that the best driver out there or was it racial ? which would make MJ a racist !! It is what it is

  32. Pryda...sec147 Says:

I can guarantee you Brady does not care about what you say Dan nor does Buc nation …

  33. HeyItsAdam Says:

    Trade Howard for SOMETHING.

He batted down a pass this past weekend like he was playing defense.

    Dalvin Cook was the pick.

    BINGO!!!!

    just keep stacking Ws!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  35. Cobraboy Says:

I will make a compromise with Npup, Oneill and the other Winston sycophant felching circle-jerk pals:

Winston is the most talented QB in the division…maybe the entire NFL…who holds a 3rd string clipboard.

  36. Ndog Says:

I love it somebody actually said Brady had pressure on the flea flicker!!!!

You guys literally can’t make this stuff up BUT you still try to.

Did you even watch the game? He had all day and no one was anyway near him OR the WR it was is blanketed to?

Just admit it fellas you were wrong, we DOWNGRADED at QB its ok though as we improved everywhere else to make up for his clear lack of mobility, lack of arm strength, lack of accuracy and lack of courage. We basically have Mike Glennon at QB now with a ton more experience and the cache to tell the lying backstabbing POS Arians I’m going to run my own plays (see flea flicker).

  37. SmoothBayRider Says:

NDog , are you going to answer my question or what . When and where are we going to square up and let the hands go ?

  38. hammerhead Says:

No, I don’t think Tom Brady feels bad that he’s throwing 50 yard strikes to Mike Evans instead of throwing to Gronk. Brady is about winning.

  39. 813bucboi Says:

    ndog

    cheer up!!!!!!

BUCS are tied for 1st place in the NFC SOUTH thanks to JW NOT a showing up on the field!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  40. DBS Says:

“WE” haven’t done anything Npup. Because you are not a Bus fan. You are a Winston fan only . And you prove it more and more everytime you post here. All you do is put down the team and the coach. You can’t even be happy with a win because the twinkle in your eye was not the QB and on the team. He is so great he is holding a clipboard for the Saints and lucky to be doing that.Go be a Saints fan try telling them how great he is.

  41. DBS Says:

    ^Bucs

  42. D-Rome Says:

Orlovsky is pretty good on TV and his analysis usually is interesting. But one morning Orlovsky passionately said he would rather have MVP Mitch Trubisky than Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

At that moment, the toggle switch in Joe’s head turned off and since, just about anything Orlovsky says falls on deaf ears with Joe.

Well then you need to be paying attention because Mitch Trubisky has the Bears at 2-0, something Jameis could never manage and never will because he’s a career backup.

  43. Ndog Says:

What is there to be happy about we beat probably the worst team in the league barely cuz our quarterback can’t produce and turn the ball over two times which I was told the last quarterback got running out of town for, we aren’t going to win anything that matters and we gave away any future we had. There’s nothing to be excited about and that’s because I’m a Bucs fan not because I’m a attention loving fan which is what seems most have become.

  44. D-Rome Says:

Face it folks we downgraded at QB, you people are just to bias to admit it and oh yeah to admit you were dead wrong.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

It seems you have forgotten that 31 other teams in the NFL had a chance to give Jay-Miss a long term deal and all 31 owners, GMs, Head Coaches, and their assistants said no.

The Bucs made a very sound decision at not giving the big contract to the most turnover prone QB in the past 30 years. Jay-Miss will be nothing more than a backup QB or a bridge-the-gap QB just like Ryan Fitzpatrick.

  45. Fernando Diaz Says:

another has been a blowhard with a mouth on social media.
We gonna keep winning Go Bucs

  46. orlbucfan Says:

“We basically have Mike Glennon at QB now with a ton more experience ….”
    —————————-
Ndog, get real. I dislike Brady cos he’s an arrogant fossil. 43 y.o. is pushing your luck surviving in the NFL. I supported Glennon but he’s no Tom Brady.

  47. DBS Says:

You now have a crystal ball? He had 5 friggin years. Every excuse in the world does not matter. They did not work for the QB’s before him and they don’t wor for him. They even went the weapons for Winston way. He lost the respect of the team with his lies and off field crap. He has done this all to himself.

  48. Joe Says:

    another has been

“Has been?” When has Orlovsky ever been a “been?” He’s a never-been.

  49. Cannon Says:

Winston vs Brady nonsense aside… the whole “TE’s aren’t being utilized in Arian’s game plan” is completely false. The TE’s are running patterns… they just aren’t getting much separation (Gronk) or they are dropping the ball (Howard).

Also, its likely that the TE’s aren’t the primary reads on most plays, but that makes sense when you have a WR corp as talented as ours.

I would not be surprised to see TE’s become more involved in the near future as this offense gels. The running game is picking up, which will require the focus on the opposing defense, this means linebackers will move up in the box, which exposes the middle.

  50. Greg Says:

In a very curious move the Buccaneers promote Tanner Hudson from the practice squad. So we already have three tight ends we don’t utilize and just added a fourth. Curious if a trade is coming

  51. mark2001 Says:

Wow…I was hoping for a guy capable of playing within his talents to help the Bucs win a SB, when I saw the title.

Shout out to BJ… Brad…I know you are a reserved kind of guy, but there is the ex Buc QB I’d really like to hear from. Not some journeyman that never lead his team to anything.

  52. mark2001 Says:

There is much more to a winning QB than his arm. Just ask Brad Johnson. Yes…Jameis has a stronger arm… but in all the other mental characteristics, and recognition, that make a great NFL QB, Brady has the edge. I don’t see how anyone can see it any other way.

  53. mark2001 Says:

“Has been?” When has Orlovsky ever been a “been?” He’s a never-been.

    ROTFL. Well said.

  54. Clean House Says:

I Agree w Orlovsky on this- OJ is no tight end, put him out wide, use Beeate and Gronk like real tight ends

  55. Ndog Says:

Brady 4 TOs in 2 games, one in which was against one of the worst teams and n the league.

    Enough said

  56. Bucsfanman Says:

So, where were you last year with these revealing statistics NDog?! Talk about “double standard”?!
Someone would’ve made that comment on the former QB and you would’ve blamed the concession stand, the wind, or the gravitational pull of the Earth or something!

  57. Iamabuc Says:

Arians/Brady will use their TighEnds…just not when the media or you guys want, that’s all.

  58. Cainishere Says:

When I was a youngin’ I remember watching the little leagues at Skyway Park.
The families would all gather and decorate the fields with the streamers and cheer on those kids. Magical.
I bring that memory up to focus on those fans. They weren’t thinking about contracts or how good a player was or anything like that.
It was UNCONDITIONAL LOVE from those fans because they were families.
Are the Buccaneers not our family?
Some of you funny folks seem to like to support INDIVIDUAL POSERS.
Why get so mad at folks like NDog? Without his posts it would be everyone together supporting the team and we can’t have that now can we sir?
The Patriots participated in a lot of Super Bowls and Championships with probably some of the HARSHEST critics in the league in fans.
Do I know that for sure? Nope… just guessing 😀
I guess my point is this team deserves better support than it’s getting.
Also, the other day my brother took me to the team store at the stadium.
I was disappointed in it seeing it as cheap looking and bare.
Not enough representation of stars of the past on the walls or any historical artifacts.
I didn’t see any Selmon Wilder Williams or any memorable players at all except for a few from the Super Bowl 2002. Just a handful of cheap shirts and replicas.
No historical information for new fans of the team to read, exciting them into purchases. No videos of Bucs in action from all eras.
You want your team store to be more of an experience. Something you simply must see at One Buccaneer Palace!
My brother wanted to buy the new helmet and there were none.
He looked at all of the jerseys and none were true authentic game day jerseys
So your money walked out the door to purchase online.
I asked him why he thought they didn’t have any authentic products and he said because Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans cannot afford those things.
Just tossin these things out there.
    GO BUCS!!!

  59. Buczilla Says:

“At that moment, the toggle switch in Joe’s head turned off and since, just about anything Orlovsky says falls on deaf ears with Joe.”

Lol, that’s exactly how I feel about the vast majority of the national writers/talking heads.

  60. Ndog Says:

That’s the whole point Bucsfanman, I’m just doing what everyone did before, you see I treat players the same I don’t do preferential treatment. Last year when James had numbers like that he got ripped by people this year they’re not ripping him and making “excuses”. So I’m just doing what they did, turnabout’s fair play.

Why were they called excuses last year but this year they’re valid reasons?

  61. unbelievable Says:

    He’s not really wrong.

Good coaches adjust to the strengths of their players / team.

Bad / Mediocre coaches force everyone into “their system” instead of adapting.

We’ve seen this for years and years around Tampa.

  62. Wesley Says:

Waste of money. Another Licht brain fart.

  63. SufferingSince76 Says:

Good grief, Ndog! Just give it a rest. Are you going to sulk all season? At what point do you start pulling for the Bucs as a team? You say you are a fan. We’re still waiting for proof.

  64. Ndog Says:

Unfortunately 76 I might be done with team forever as watching them play no longer gives me joy.

    And it pisses me off.

  65. Ndogs friend tbag Says:

    ^^^^

Yah. Who wants to be a buc fan without jameis.
Rock on ndog. You are my bestie

Are we gonna work each other out this week?
I was thinking legs and butt
