“There’s Nothing Innovative, Just Guys Learning, Guys Working”

July 8th, 2020

What was happening inside those online meetings Bucs players had with coaches for a couple of months before their summer vacation?

Stories have trickled out from other clubs about guest speakers and fresh ideas.

With Bucco Bruce Arians’ troops, if seems like it was just the basics, with Arians noting he stayed away from participating much and Byron Leftwich noting he’s not a fan of computers.

After a throwing session/workout with Blaine Gabbert and Scotty Miller this morning in Tampa, Dare Ogunbowale told JoeBucsFan.com that the Bucs’ running backs room has the playbook down and there was nothing from the various Zoom meetings with teammates and coaches that stood out.

“There’s nothing innovative, just guys learning, guys working,” Ogunbowale said.

The Bucs’ primary third-down back last year said he’s in “great shape” and this wacky offseason further tests the professionalism of each player. He believes his teammates have stayed fit and ready for camp.

“Your gonna find a field to work out, you’re going to find your weight room. So guys are still staying in good shape,” Ogunbowale said.

so do ya honestly think if they have found some innovative new way, of going about this offseason, they would tip their hands and show the rest of the league keeping everything tight to the vest, to say the least

    Ugghhh!

I like Dare personally, but the ONLY thing going for him right now is he was special teams captain last year. Otherwise, he’d probably not be on the roster.

Here I was in a good mood, and I get reminded of Scotty Miller and Ogunbowale.

I’ll remind you our “special teams captain” got beat twice last year for blocked punts.

There is nothing new under the sun. Information is information…whether it’s carved in stone, printed, seen as pixels on a screen or viewed as a Zoom screen with 12 other participants.

The part that is missing of course is the coordination of eleven guys getting PHYSICALLY in synch with the plays…knowing them is one thing…running them another…learning them involves no timing…running them does.

I think this is why BA is largely MEH about computers and devices…they are simply a convenience…again information is information but how do they put it into live practice?

maybe Tom Brady needs some wackjob VR headset to practice over Zoom meetings while streaming on facebook or some garbage.

look. You can’t practice football on a computer (suck it, Madden players). What do you expect? Some guest rah-rah speech in the middle of June? Who cares.

Hey man. Dont sleep on Ogunbowale. He was our best pass catcher last year. I could definitely see Tom Brady elevating Dares impact for us. Just a quick glance at Tom’s track record shows he has gotten a lot of production from basic noname backs. I could easily see Tom Brady get Dare to do what a guy like Riddley did.

    1. Joe wants to take a good long power snooze on him, and hopefully wake up to find him off the roster.

    2. This is a truly disturbing thing to read.

  10. WillieG Says:

I sure hope we don’t hear “I wish we would’ve been more innovative during the off-season” from BA after a 6-10 season.

  11. K2 Says:

Really Ke’Shawn Vaughn has the playbook down. I really doubt that…has he even stepped a foot in Tampa. Where is his contract…why can’t the Bucs get their rookies signed? Please we need the rookies signed…yesterday! It would be foolish to workout without a contract.
