Why Would Jameis Want To Return?

March 12th, 2020

Yes, money talks, but there are other factors in the world of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

Its a hearty checklist.

So Joe’s wondering why exactly Jameis would be excited to return to the Bucs in 2020?

  1. The head coach and GM don’t want you (unless they change their minds).
  2. The head coach likely is a 2020 losing season from getting fired.
  3. The head coach takes no public responsibility for your 30 picks.
  4. Under that head coach, you’d have a very short leash as a starter in 2020.
  5. At least a third of the fan base either doesn’t like you or doesn’t want you.
  6. You have no visible local endorsements.
  7. You’re in an offense in which you take a ton of hits.
  8. Your front office has proven it can’t craft a running game.
  9. It’s still the Bucs, a poorly operated football organization for many years.
  10. Subpar kicking year after year.

At 26 years old, Jameis doesn’t have to come back to the Bucs in order to revive his career and earn a fat payday in the future. He knows that.

Sure, if the Bucs come crawling back to Jameis after dating free agent quarterbacks next week, they might throw Jameis significantly more than he would earn as a backup or starter elsewhere. But that still doesn’t mean the Bucs are an ideal fit for Jameis (see list above).

Good luck, Jameis.

Ndog is a JBF writer now?

  2. tmaxcon Says:

Jameis needs to give this small market adult diaper wearing cowtown the finger and move on to a location worthy of his greatness.

  3. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Jaymiss should be BEGGING to come back. The Bucs have had his back even before they drafted him and he has given them AND us exactly NO return on investment.

  4. gbobucsfan Says:

“The head coach likely is a 2020 losing season from getting fired.”

    Didn’t see this one coming?

  5. stravenite Says:

Yeah, Bucs don’t want him, he doesn’t want to be back, let’s do this

  6. Jerry Says:

Honestly, I don’t find him that charismatic for endorsements (not all QBs are GQ models)…also a twice accused sex offender doesn’t help sell beer or cars I’d imagine

Look has Tampa been perfect for him since he has been drafted? No, absolutely not, far from it BUT it has given him a lot of time to work through his turnovers issue…I think it is for the best if we all move on

  7. LaMarcus Says:

Just personally what I seen and read. if i was JW I’m thinking I rather be a back up anywhere but a starter for the Bucs. Not personal just business. JW shame on you. You put on that Bucs jersey and 5 years later look what happened. You could of have had a better career anywhere but here. But no, you wanted number 1 pick status and it was the Bucs you should of ran and pulled a Eli and left Bucs fans in the basement where we belong

  8. Robert Says:

The head coach and GM don’t want you (unless they change their minds).

-not for 30 million and still being delusional about ballin
The head coach likely is a 2020 losing season from getting fired.
-how many head coaches has jw gotten fired, and players, hell yes the coach cares about getting fired
The head coach takes no public responsibility for your 30 picks.
-he did not throw them, there is such a thing as throwing the ball away
Under that head coach, you’d have a very short leash as a starter in 2020.
-WTF???? seriously, he should have been benched for starting games throwing a pick 6
At least a third of the fan base either doesn’t like you or doesn’t want you.
-more like the majority based on JBF poles
You have no visible local endorsements.
-that happens when you have so many off the field issues
You’re in an offensive in which you take a ton of hits.
-unless you make the right reads and actually use your TE’s or get rid of it
Your front office has proven it can’t craft a running game.
-that happens when there is no threat of intermediate routes
It’s still the Bucs, a poorly operated football organization for many years.
-thats tired, the team did a dang good job on the D last year and has given jw all the weapons

    –move on time

  9. tmaxcon Says:

You people act like a player should be proud of losing in Tampa. outside of the fluke championship season that’s all Tampa does is lose. Playing for bucs is a disgrace not something to brag about. Tampa is the nfl black hole of irrelevance. Bucs will be left at the alter once again. But BAs BS will save the day

  10. Pewter power Says:

This list is ridiculous he actually had endorsements before the uber allegation seriously Joes? Sure it’s the bucs fault he cant get in an uber ride. Of course it’s not the Bucs’ fault, but that’s not relevant to what Jameis might find via a new city/fresh start. –Joe

Yes the front office hasn’t proven it can craft a run game but he hasn’t proven he can stop throwing picks. Why are people acting like it’s the first year it was an issue.

Why the hell would the coach take responsibility for his picks, I didnt hear anyone doing that for any other quarterback in the league including the fifth round drafted quarterbacks who ended up starting

The offense is not the problem the picks are and his stupid decisions like holding on to the ball to long even when your left tackle leaves the game injured.

It’s still the bucs? Translation you made zero difference here so no need to drag it out any further.

Dude finally had one decent season thanks to the coach who saved him from the embarrassing season he had last year

  11. LaMarcus Says:

But I think its JW like: I’ll take 20 mill to play anywhere but Tampa it has to be 30 mil. I think JW priced his way out of here and Bruce and Licht are mad. And went out of their way to make him look bad to reel him back in and it didn’t happen(yet) so now off to other backs….in that order

  12. LaMarcus Says:

    Robert

This defense is trash. We can stop the run tho. At some point we had defense worst than Mike Smith defenses and that’s not possible

  13. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

I’m with the “Trumpian” TMax ( which I like ) on this issue. I hope he finds success elsewhere given all this offseason’s disrespect thrown his way by BA & Lil’ Brother Licht. There was no need to verbally bury JW in the press. Simply move on. Fascinating to me that BA piled on JW yet idolizes the immortal Blaine Gabbert. Better hope Rivers has something left and actually wants to come here or Teddy Bear Bridgewater doesn’t need a cart/gurney when he gets drilled by the lack of pass pro. Brady ain’t coming to Tampa. The Bucs are the desperate nerd trying to date way outta their league with the promise of jewelry, a fancy car and putting Brady’s name on the Raymond James Stadium deed.

  14. Patrickbucs Says:

If we don’t resign him and the Chargers don’t draft Hebert, think he signs a 1 year deal there. Not sure where else he will be promised a starting position until we see the market shake out. Pretty sad for all

  15. Pewter power Says:

    @tmaxcon

You are clearly blind or have no tv in the home so listen via radio broadcast. Moronic comments like if Winston had gone to a different team he’d not be leading the league in interceptions. Without these weapons he’d have 40 interceptions. He can thank all the dropped interceptions by defenders and batted down passes by his receivers for not getting 40 picks.

He’d be on a hall of fame trajectory 30-40 years ago

  16. tmaxcon Says:

Based on less than 1/2 the season not embarrassing themselves Bucfan claiming a defense that is half in diapers and half unsigned is ready to carry this team to a championship. so laughable…. bucfans are Americas version of former prince harry… he got his first white trash dirty girl then tossed the family aside…. bucfan is so delusional and desperate but very entertaining. you people rather lose 10 to 9 every week then accept risks that go along with scoring points…

  17. RGA Says:

I would imagine Winston must be wondering what it would be like to play behind an offensive line that provides adequate protection and opens holes for the running game.

  18. bucsince79 aka bumaneer Says:

I strongly disagree that BA is 1 losing season from being fired… Jameis has 2 #1 receivers… Let #3 test the market & maybe we get him for 22-25M per year…

  19. tmaxcon Says:

Bucs will be back and the basement and harry will be crawling back ti the queen when the trash is done with her publicity stunt…. BA and his offseason of spouting off is nothing more than a pr stunt that will blow up in glazers face…

  20. Chris K Says:

To answer your question. To earn a paycheck 🤷🏻‍♂️

  21. ModHairKen Says:

I’ll tell you why: Mons Venus. There grabbing a crotch is the stock in trade and there is no 3 game suspension.

  22. Tbbucs3 Says:

    10. The general manager has failed miserably to build a defense that can stop the pass

    11. Kicker issues

And the Glazers don’t have the guts to fire BA, if they did then Licht would’ve been fired a long long time ago.

  23. NPRSageBoy. Says:

As far as no visible local endorsements, who is to blame for that?

Stealing crab legs and assaulting women will do that for you.

No one to blame but JayMiss; check your sheets

    Peace, out

  24. miken Says:

He wants starter money and wants to start thats why he will be back!Come on Joe… you really think he wants a prove it contract where he has to compete?? This is a guy whowas uncomfortable with a carerr back up in Fitz on the roster.

  25. BrianBucs Says:

I see Joe is still in total denial.
I guarantee you it’s more like 60% of the total fan base want Winston gone.
    Plus another reason to be added to Joe’s checklist;
The entire Bucs organization, team and fans know you will never win anything. So it’s time to go and be a big disappointment to some other team and get their coach fired

  26. LordCornelius Says:

I just don’t know where else he’ll have a good chance of starting at this point.

Chicago is the only place I feel like he’s an obvious QB upgrade. It’s debatable everywhere else based on the available dominos and where they likely fall.

  27. stpetebucsfan Says:

WHY do 1/3 (personally think that’s a LOW BALL #) not want or perhaps even more importantly dislike JW? Why no pic on the stadium and zero endorsements?

Do his supporters ever ask WHY…oh yeah…shady women seduced him…bad friends got him blind drunk in AZ one year after the Bucs TRUSTED him. How did he repay that trust…with lies.

He’s an on field choker with plenty of wasted talent. He gets sacked because he’s slow…and slower still to make up his mind…he is a major CHOKER!!!

Yet his peeps seem to not understand why 1/3 ? want him gone.

WTF ever happened to ACCOUNTABILITY in this nation. A President who is documented telling thousands of lies…boasts about grabbing womens vajajay’s

A kid who nearly blew his entire career in college for undisciplined behavior and a year later repays the trust a franchise and it’s fans bestowed upon him.

Every freaking turnover excused because blameless has a horrible
O line..worse running backs and terrible coaches and of course horrible luck.

Is ANYBODY in this nation responsible for ANYTHING?

  28. D-Rome Says:

It’s business. There’s no room for hurt feelings here. Personally, I hope the Bucs move on from Jay-Miss because he’s a turnover machine and this team will never win with him. He also won’t win a Super Bowl with another team unless he does so as a backup. However, if they bring him back then whatever….Arians is paid to make those decisions.

  29. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

CELEBRATION DAY when Winston leaves!!!! And ALL his on/off field garbage!!! Let him go divide some other fan base irreparably.

  30. Dewey Selmon Says:

Winston has to realize he most likely won’t be a starter next year. He needs to approach it like Tannehill, go to a team that the starter is on a short leash. Chicago, LA Chargers come to mind. He could be in the lineup by midseason.

  31. Eric Says:

Yes sir and then laugh at all these clowns when Blaine is named the starter by week 7!

  32. MidwestBucsFan Says:

As mentioned and consistently echoed, a fresh start will be good for both sides.

  33. LordCornelius Says:

Luke Easterling mocks well for the Bucs because he’s a fan, and I like his latest:

    1. Andrew Thomas OT
    2. Jacob Eason QB
    3. Cam Akers RB
    4. Jordan Elliot DT
    4. John Hightower WR
    5. JR Reed S
    6. Jon Runyan OL

Assuming we sign someone like Rivers or even Bridgewater this scenario makes a ton of sense. Even doing it while keeping Winston would make sense to me.

  34. BeeBucs Says:

I’m sorry but this article is blah blah blah

  35. But fan from day 1 Says:

Get ready for Brady. Which he won’t last a season under this O-line.
Those busted knees and lack of body strength will result in a ton of sacks or picks. And most definitely injuries at his age.

I wish JW the best with his new team and the haters will keep on hating.

  36. Syl Says:

I was hoping they would cut him loose last year. This is a loser franchise, and once he will gone I will be happy to ignore Tampa again.

  37. DBS Says:

^^^^ From a Jameis fan. Not a Bucs fan as we can see.

  38. Natron Says:

tmaxcon: One thing is certain, wherever Jameis Christ ends up, he will sit on that bench in a State of Grace, all his illusions and ours intact

  39. Ocala Says:

I 100% agree with Joe. If I am Jamies I get the heck out of Tampa if given the opportunity.

  40. BucsminsterFuller Says:

    Joe you forgot:
    11. The best wide reciever tandum in the NFL.
they made Jameis look a lot better than he actually is.
Let’s not downplay that he threw 30 picks with Evans & Godwin on the field.

  41. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Lord C

Agree with you on that draft strategy completely. My major thought though is that would require some luck on our part eh?

First off everybody loves Thomas but will he be there at 14 or perhaps a minor trade to move up a couple of spots.

Same questions about Eason at QB and then Akers at RB. I think both local RB’s Akers and Perrine are going to play well in the NFL…will they drop to the 3rd round?

  42. Cgmaster27 Says:

@bucsminster stupid comments like yours continue to astound. Evans and godwin had to have someine throwing them the ball. You forget jameis got humph paid. He got cam brate paid. Hes going to get perriman paid. But youre right evans and godwin did all the work. The fanbase iq goes down wvery day i guess.

  43. But fan from day 1 Says:

Here’s something to go look at.
    Peyton Manning’s first 5 seasons
Threw fewer yards and TD’s and more ints by a large margin than JW and he did that with a decent O-line. And he had the best kicker in all of football to help win games.

  44. HOLLYWOOD Says:

    BaBye Bitchston!

  45. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Bucsminster

Those last 2 games Jameis didn’t have Evans or Godwin and still have us a chance to win.

How many QBs can play with a WR core of Breshad Perriman, Justin Watson, Scotty Miller and 2 duds at TE? Not many

  46. fernando diaz Says:

wow I guess we know what coach and gm thinking, leverage is not discussed
if they hint they want him back changes the number
franchise tag is a factor too
I smell they gonna mess this up
Bellichick knows when to walk away
26 for 43 don’t make sense whatever it will sort itself out

  47. Anonymous Says:

Jameis is going to get a long term extension with the Bucs. 5 years, $105 million backloaded ($5 mill/$5 mill/$30mill/$30mill with an out clause/$35mill). Then, the Bucs will also sign Brady to a 2 year deal. Winston will willingly sit behind the GOAT for two years. Brady and BA will retire together and walk into the sunset with 2 SB rings. BA turns the reigns over the BL and Winston in 2022, and the Bucs dynasty continues.

I’m almost positive this is how it plays out.

[please don’t take this seriously. I’m just having fun. After all, it is the time of year when we all have hope as Bucs fans, and this is my unrealistic and optimistic hope!!]

  48. But fan from day 1 Says:

@bucsminster, let’s not forget 10 of those picks came off receivers tipped balls that should have been caught. NFL channel showed 6 picks of balls going right through the receivers hands. And a few others they filled in the air.

  49. Clean House Says:

JW should tell these buffoons to kiss off

  50. D-Rome Says:

^^^^ From a Jameis fan. Not a Bucs fan as we can see.

Exactly that! Reason #2 as to why I’d like to see the Bucs move on from Jay-Miss is that all the fake fans will go away. Most Jay-Miss apologists out there aren’t Bucs fans, they are Jay-Miss fans.

  51. Joeypoppems Says:

2 and 3 i disagree with. I dont think a losing season in 2020 get BA fired. Maybe he retires, but i think he would he safe.

I also dont see why BA should take public responsibility for the picks.

But the truest point is #1. BA clearly doesnt want him back. If I was Winston and seeing all the things in the media lately – willing to give Brady roster control, love for Teddy B, Rivers connections… i wouldnt want to come back here.

  52. Cgmaster27 Says:

@drome just stop dude half these anti jameis posts are from fake as bucs fans. If he leaves, youll never see half these names on here again. But dont worry ill be here to remind you and everyone else how stupid the Bucs are when this while thing falls through and blaine gabbert is our starting qb.

  53. rrsrq Says:

BA and Jameis has this conversation at the end of the season, there will be a lot of things said, but don’t listen to the noise, this whole thing has the makings of a great drama on the way to winning a championship. JW has probably already signed with TB and just waiting for the league to make it binding. They both know this is great for their career, if Brady signs with TB, BA would no longer be the QB whisperer, he would be like Phil Jackson, with Mike, Pippen, Kobe and Shaq , you are great, but when he went to the Knicks. So he needs JW to confirm that he is the whisperer or his only claim are Big Ben, Manning, Luck who would’ve been good regardless

  54. jughead Says:

    Dueces bruh!

Wishing ALL of you, whether we argue or agree….. good health and well being. — and Let’s shut this thing down.

  56. Craig Says:

    Where else will he go?

I have seen football prognosticators say where they think he will go, but I haven’t seen anyone actually chase him.

I hope he can find a place, I just hope it is elsewhere. We saw the best he can be last season. It was his audition year and he showed that he is not ready for prime time.

Don’t bother to talk about the second year in the system. He showed during those last two games that he can’t retain anything he learns .

You say the interceptions will go down, but no other QB in Arians system had such a huge increase in interceptions during the first year of it. 30% is an ungodly amount. Carson Palmer’s only went up like 5%. There is no way to compare the two.

  57. mark2001 Says:

Yeah, all this talk about JW and contracts this & that may not matter. If COVID gets further out of control, dollars to donuts that next season is cancelled before even rookie mini-camps start. Personally I think people are freaking out a little too much, but it is what it is. I mean, I’ve got like 2 rolls of TP at home, so I have at least another week or two before I’ll be concerned since I ain’t paying $40 for TP!

  61. Pewter power Says:

Our receivers are studs and Winston had a great arm and is talented. Him throwing the ball and our receivers catching it except howard. No one is taking away what he did this year dude had skills. Dont confuse the narrative with stupidity, the issue is not him as a person, his talent or arm strength. His lack of ball security and carelessness had him in this situation not the franchise fault whatsoever. The mental side wont magically get better by going to a different team.

Defense is light years better than it was last year. I guess it was Dirk koetter to blame for his suspension last year and his benching nothing to do with the poor play right?

Stop trying to make the case for Winston based off one 5000 yard season. None of you have any excuses for last year. Dude had the skills bit after 5 years still lacking on the mental side which is the reason ex players keep recommending he sits behind a veteran.

  62. LordCornelius Says:

    @stpete

Who knows man. Luke always seems to push players to the Bucs that are at good value.

In general we may need to move up for one of the top 4 OTs.

  63. Couch Fan Says:

When I read this I pictured angry 10 year old throwing a tantrum because he’s finally realized the Bucs are done with his man crush. LMAO. I cant believe you think Bruce should take responcibility for 30 Ints and leading the league in turnovers. Once again a fan boy trying to blame everyone else for Winstons ineptitude.

I’d like to see a list on why the Bucs wouldn’t want him back.

  64. passthebuc Says:

    least we or Joe forget:
JW takes forever to get the ball out of his hands.
    JW never leads a receiver.
JW waits until the receiver is covered
I’ve got a long list, but Joe, you get the point.
Maybe by the time he is 40, he will learn.

  65. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ve been a Jameis supporter and wouldn’t have a problem with him coming back at a reasonable price…..but this is absurd…

Jameis is responsible for most all of this list…..lack of endorsements…..fans dislike…..coaches issues….lack of winning..

He was handed the keys to the franchise and wrecked the vehicle many times….

Quit blaming everyone else and coddling this multi-millionaire. He gets paid to perform and should earn it.

  66. Nick2 Says:

Too bad you dont list the reasons BA and Licht dont want him. How about more pick 6’s in one year than any other NFL QB??? Or the last QB to throw as manyt INT’s was Vinny freakin Testaverde in 1988 (yes Joe as Buc fans we were tortured by him too!!!!) Cut Buc fans some slack we are tired of a QB that gives the ball to the opposing team and loses games for us. So the Bucs had Jameis and Vinny number 1 and 2 for the most picks in one year in the last 40 years?????? Are you kidding me. Good luck Jameis!!!

  67. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

I don’t know…are you sure you are a Jameis supporter? You’re making sense and seem to have a proper head on your shoulders. These are not things that are common among JW supporters. 🙂

  69. Bucsfanman Says:

Yes poor, poor Jameis. He’s so oppressed and down-trodden! We should be ashamed of ourselves for not having any empathy.
I just picture in the background the sounds of a crying baby!

stpetebucsfan- “Accountability”?! Is that some kind of a joke?! That might as well be buried next to Hoffa! Ain’t nobody fixin’ to find it!

  70. Waterboy Says:

Sounds a lot like the feelings of the last head coach.

  71. Ivan The Insider Says:

Jameis would be CRUCIFIED if he went to a larger market team.

His off-the-field stuff would have been 100 TIMES WORSE if he wasn’t in a smaller market like Tampa.

His VALUE is obviously much higher in Tampa than anywhere else. He and his agent are about to get a massive wake-up call. He may go unsigned and be on his way out of football if the Bucs don’t bring him back.

Jameis is loved by many in Florida due to his FSU ties. If he were go leave the state he will not find as many diehard fans willing to put up with his terrible ‘Bad Jameis’ games. Other fans would not be as forgiving.

  72. Bucsfan951 Says:

    1. Well, would you want him if he had 35 turnovers? Not like this is his first yr in the league. They have 5 years of tape on him.

    2. Isn’t that the norm? But I think BA will get another yr even if they do bad.

    3. Public responsibility? Hasn’t he came out and said some ints weren’t on Winston? So now the coach has to coddle him more?

    4. Just like under koetter. Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t fitz play while a healthy Winston rode the bench?

    5. A 1/3? I would say half. Again, 5 years of the tv show Winston in Tampa and its the same reruns after a while.

    6. Would you put your money into a player who has been accused of the things he had been accused of. Don’t throw your pitchforks at me. I said accused!

    7. Better get in good shape to take those hits! Not much to comment there. Remember tho, that system got him to 5k yards which matter in a lot of peoples eyes.

    8. The Bucs have a front office? Could’ve fooled me. They can’t get a running game going to save their behinds!

    9. Are they hiring? I can do a better job at that! I have my resume updated and ready for email.

    10. That’s an understatement! Again, I think I may be able to do better. I’m good from 30 out!

  73. Waterboy Says:

One thing no one can say is Bruce Arians didn’t want him and fully support him prior to the season. So going to a new team may be great but can quickly turn sour once the season starts and he starts turning the ball over at a record pace.

  74. tmaxcon Says:

stpetebucsfan- “Accountability”?! Is that some kind of a joke?! That might as well be buried next to Hoffa! Ain’t nobody fixin’ to find it!

stpete the king of wealth redistribution using accountability in a post. lol wow the world is a very entertaining place…. if you truly believed in accountability half the people you support and vote for would be in prison.

  75. Bucsfan951 Says:

With that said, I would like to see a new RT, an actual rb, get younger on that d line, a vet safety and slap Winston with the tag. 1 more yr in BA’s system is what I want to see. I’m close to cutting bait but I need 1 more yr to fully evaluate Winston in the system. Would like to see him with an actual run game

none of them had to play 2 defenses each week. your selective memory on how bad the defenses were and are is so laughable…. this defense has been the worst in nfl history over the last 4 years say that with me worst in nfl history…. yep it’s all jameis fault. bucfan is the dumbest species on earth roaches have more common sense than bucfan.

Oh the race card… I’m more of an Uno guy myself

  83. 813bucboi Says:

At 26 years old, Jameis doesn’t have to come back to the Bucs in order to revive his career and earn a fat payday in the future. He knows that.
    *****************************************************************

im sure christain ponder and ej manuels reps told them the same thing….lol….

screw that lousy franchise….you were a winner before you got there….you’ll start somewhere else…..lol…..

JW leaves the bucs and he’ll take the tebow route….lol….

he’ll be a back-up for a couple years and then try his hand in baseball while being an analyst for ACC network……LMAO!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  84. Jeffbuc Says:

Titans just released dion Lewis that would be a cheap upgrade over dare obungwanda. He would be great 3rd down back and if some how Brady came here he would have a guy he threw a lot of balls to. And if jameis stays he will have a good check down guy to use to help cut down on turnovers if he throws it to him. I think that is the key they have to implement so quick passes to the running backs to bring up the safeties then take there shots

  85. Crabby Fan Says:

Who in the world is JWs agent or rep?

This has got to be one of the worse strategies in negotiating a new contract. I understand wanting to get the most $$ for your customer but give me a break…

I’m sure the asking price from team JW helped seal this dilemma. I’m not much of a fan of JWs play but I can see there is raw talent in him but IMO he was not brought in to the best situation. He should’ve been brought in to sit and learn and not try to be superman from day 1.

Hopefully the FO will treat the next set of QBs with the future in mind also.

    Go Bucs

  86. Tvan101 Says:

The Jameis lovers are out today and Joe is having a tantrum this is hilarious.

  87. The Coroner Says:

LaMarcus – did you actually watch the Bucs’ defense the last 6 games?

Lord Cornelius- I like it also, but I take Eason only if Brady comes here – otherwise OL.

  88. TSmitty3000 Says:

I believe Jameis should choose to go somewhere and take a Tannehill type deal. The coach and fans here don’t want him. Why choose a place where the coach is ready to pull you? Notice how the Titans never publicly drug Mariota. The Dolphins didn’t publicly drag Tannehill. You may need those guys in a pinch. It is fair to ask Bruce why Jameis threw a career high in picks under you?

If the Bucs want Teddy Bridgewater, sign him and don’t wait for Brady to tell you no. The Titans aren’t going to waste their time waiting for Brady to tell them no. They are going to smartly bring Tannehill back. Like Tannehill, Bridgewater will have options besides the Bucs. The Chargers, Bears, Colts, and possibly Panthers could all go after Teddy. What if Teddy chooses the Colts who have a better offensive line, running game, and decent D? Not to mention a coach who will tailor the offense to fit Teddy. Yea the Bucs have two pro bowl receivers, but a good number of teams have two good receivers. Also, you can easily find receivers in the draft nowadays.

PS a clear indication the national media don’t watch Bucs games is how they gush over OJ Howard.

  89. Buc4evr Says:

Thirty picks is thirty picks. I am over Jameis, the guy became a multi millionaire while torturing the fan base with his disastrous play for the last five years. And by the way please dump our kicker. Another bum taking up roster space.

  90. Adrnagy Says:

Bruce was hire to “fix” jameis. “Fix” the culture. Not offense. So far he’s lie. He’s not being accountable on his mistakes. He needs to go !
How could you go on national TV and say before the season starts ..
your running game is a beast.
Jameis will win acouple Super Bowls
    Defense is fixed.

And until now he never acknowledges he is wrong and was wrong. Then he blames everything on Jameis ?

  93. gotbbucs Says:

I really don’t think you have to be an overly intelligent person to know that he’s not coming back. They don’t want him.

  94. Adrnagy Says:

Ownership has fire hire many coaches. GM.

Then you have the franchise QB picked #1. Works his a*** off. Everything around him doesn’t improve for 5 yrs.
finally it somewhat turns this last year but under what circumstances ?
The head coach lean on you the QB to sling it , to win it. After missing on evaluating the team strengths and weakness.
Then you want to move on has a coach from the QB ?

Ownership wants two things. Money and integrity around them.
    None is happening so far.

  95. El Buco Realisto Says:

There is no other NFL team that will have 20 percent of the fan base that would support bringing on jay-miss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs

  96. Jonny Says:

Even though I don’t want Winston back, the points made by the article are great and very valid from Winston’s perspective. The only reason Winston would want to come back has everything to do with the pride of being the franchise QB of the team that drafted him #1 overall, and not exiting the franchise with a bust label. As good as some other free agent QBs are, Winston offers the most upside. It would not be crazy to think someone like Belichick or Jerry Jones are enamored by the idea of coaching up Winston to be a better QB with an infinitely better organization. Even with all his flaws Winston is solidly in the 15-20 best QBs range with the upside in top 5. I would be very happy for him and root for him to ascend with another team.

None of you naysayers want to address my point of Peyton Manning’s 1st five year stats vs. Jamie’s Winston’s
    Lol

  99. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Not a Jameis apologist or fanboy just see the positives he shows on the field but dang Joe to blame the picks on the coaches??? Only way I accept that is if Aryans told him to throw caution to the wind and don’t worry about them. What I saw was the same kind of picks over and over. What I do blame the coach is no adjustments were ever made to these routes. To be fair Jameis brought the fan hatred for poor play on himself with the bad play. For the off field stuff some the fans have other reasons why that stuff bothers them so much. I think Jameis is a pretty sincere and decent dude but it is time for him to move on, just never lived up to the hype.

maybe he is catering to female bucfan who may well appreciate a but fan! There are a lot of very passionate female bucfans.

  103. Defense Rules Says:

I’m wondering now if you stayed up late last night drafting up that ‘rationale’ why Jameis should bolt the Bucs Joe. NFL football is a BUSINESS and if ‘Poor Jameis’ can’t figure that out he’s got more problems than BA can fix.

That list is little more than one excuse after another. Example: #6 … “You have no visible local endorsements.” Seriously? Why don’t you blame your Brandon Ford buddy for not signing Jameis to a $1 mil a year sponsorship deal. (Hint: We BOTH know why).

Or #7 … “You’re in an offense in which you take a ton of hits.” MAYBE, just MAYBE, if Jameis went through his progressions faster he wouldn’t have taken so many sacks or hits. And oh ya, MAYBE he wouldn’t have thrown 30 INTs last season.

Oh wait, foolish me. I forgot that it was all the rookie kicker’s fault. #10 is such a great catch-all excuse. Whew!

  104. Buczilla Says:

Has Jameis been disrespected by the Buccaneers? Yup. Does it matter in the slightest? Nope. If the Buccaneers want Jameis back he has zero choice in the matter unless he holds out after being franchised. He’s too good of a dude for that nonsense and I doubt that he would want to further tarnish his reputation (I have no issues with him other than his play on the field, but many others do). If I were in his shoes, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to come back though.

  105. Bobby M. Says:

I don’t believe he has ever wanted to come back. Asking for $30 million per year….that’s a classic business move where you bid so high knowing you wont get the job. Its a nice way of saying I don’t want the work. That’s basically what he’s been doing. Now if they tagged him, not much he could do right? he’s stuck making $27 million for one year….its not like he’s complaining.

Its time for Winston to move on…..I think for him to have any chance at rebranding himself, he needs a new organization, far away from his roots at FSU.

  106. tmaxcon Says:

    Defense Rules

hard to take a guy serious who calls losing 10 to 9 with no chance in the post season glory years….

playing for the bucs is a disgrace. jameis will be fine elsewhere and the bucs will always be the bucs proud owners of the worst winning percentage in sports history and with a ring of underachievement a junkyard would not be proud of.

in all seriousness protect yourself old man from corona. I actually like your rants!!!!

  107. tmaxcon Says:

    Bobby M

it will be a hell of a lot easier for jameis to rebrand himself than for this organization to shake the well deserved league wide laughingstock reputation they have earned. The prove it each and every Sundays they are the most embarrassing franchise in league history.

  108. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

I agree….Why in the hell would Winston wanna be here? Go, James, GO!!!! (please)

  109. Ivan The Insider Says:

HAHAHA… how funny is it going to be when the Bucs sign Bridgewater and let Winston walk (and no one signs him to a starting job) and all the Jameis-homers on this site can no longer play the race card as to the reason why the Bucs didn’t keep Winston.

  110. Buc fan from day 1 Says:

@Tampa Bay Demon auto correct 🙁

  111. tickrdr Says:

Two stars for Winston (out of possible 5) in the latest video on NFL.com, rating the first rounders of the 2015 draft class. That was better than a few other players, but not many. He did tie Marcus Mariota though, so there’s that.

    tickrdr

  112. Buc fan from day 1 Says:

Ok so autocorrect got me on the name.

But Peyton Manning vs. Jameis Winston 1st 5 years.

Throw Brett Favre in the mix also. Look at all the seasons he threw more picks than TD’s

This will be Doug Williams 2.0

  113. JimmyJack Says:

Joe you printed #1 as fact? Bruce and Jason don’t want Winston? Well if that is true then he is already gone. They just haven’t told us yet.

All the rest of your point really don’t matter if number one is true. If they don’t want Winston he’s done in Tampa Bay.

If they do actually want him then he’ll be our QB next year.

  114. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Perhaps you could stop lol..for a second …and be clear about your super awesome point, it would help.

Is it total yds, total TD’S /INT’S?

  118. D1 Says:

    Buc fan,

    Apologies for the the typo

  119. Defense Rules Says:

tmax … ‘old man’? Nah, you’re just as old as you feel. Yesterday I worked out at the gym and felt like I was 30 afterwards. Today I turned 120. What a difference a day makes.

  120. Ricky Says:

Joe after Jameis leaves are you going to change the name of the website to joejameisfan.com ?

  121. SteveK Says:

Turnovers are less nowadays bc of the era of football and rules that favor
Offenses. Apples and oranges comparing QBs from today and the 90’s.

Record 7 pick 6’s- with others calls back from penalty

  124. Buc fan from day 1 Says:

D1 the point is Jameis’s first five seasons vs. Peyton’s first seasons.

    Yards, TD’s, and INT’s

Then look at the teams in comparison.
    O-line, running game, kicking game.

  125. WestChap Says:

Weird. This is a Bucs fan site, right? Or, have the Jameistas taken over?

  126. Oneilbucs Says:

And you can’t for get about the fans that just don’t want a black quarterback because I know that plays apart of it as well . Every black quarterback that played in the NFL has heard racist slurs about them so they buy tickets and comment on sites like this one .

  127. T REX Says:

Who is more butthurt? Joe or Winston?

  128. D1 Says:

    BY WHO????

No team is talking about Jameis. Even the Chicago talk has died

    Winston isn’t the victim

He threw away his career here

    The Bucs took a chance
Have him the best receivers in the league

And Jameis screwed up on the field and off

    IAGRRE HE SHOULDNT RETURN

By the way Joe That’s more like 1/2 the fan base

  130. Tye Says:

Hopefully he won’t and this nightmare can be over…
