Pulse Of The Fans – Day 3

July 29th, 2019

Bucs fans answer 3 questions, one was on Peyton Barber.

Fans have thoughts and opinions of their own regarding their beloved Bucs. Here is just a slice of what was going through their minds yesterday as the pads came on for the first time in 2019:

Question 1: Do you think the Bucs did the right thing letting Adam Humphries go in free agency?

Summary: Obviously, Humphries was a fan favorite in Tampa Bay. The undrafted slot receiver from Clemson built a real rapport with Jameis Winston and fans. Today’s consensus, though, was while they were happy that Humphries got himself a payday, they ultimately would’ve loved to see him back in pewter and red. Bucs fan Jared Waldrop said it best. “Humphries is one of my favorite players for the past couple years. But as far as money-wise, we just can’t afford to spend that much on a slot receiver. I mean, we already have Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller and the other guy we just drafted so I think we’re fine in that position and it sucks to see him go but it’s part of the business.”

Question 2: In 2019, do you think Devin White will be better than Kwon Alexander? Provide a reason why or why not.

Summary: Many fans believe drafting White versus paying Kwon was the right move. Many said that while they like Kwon and hope for nothing but the best for him, they hope White is even better. Many, like Bucs fan Nathan Elliot think that Devin White is a, “bigger, faster Kwon Alexander.”

Question 3: Do you think Peyton Barber can be a 1,000 yard running back?

Summary: The people are optimistic about Peyton Barber. That was the takeaway from this one. Fans love that he’s a grinder and they believe that under Bruce Arians he will flourish. Many fans’ answers came with an asterisk, though. They believe that the offensive line must simply be better; Barber won’t be given an opportunity to get 1,000 yards if the offensive line can’t run block for him. That’s the fear of many. Bucs fan Jordan McCann however, is really excited about Barber. “I really believe [he can break 1,000 yards]. Peyton Barber is a really heavy hitter. If I had to trust him with getting a yard and I needed a yard, I would trust Peyton Barber. I think he’s a great back and I really think he’ll thrive in our offense.”

Good to hear our fans are level headed and haven’t become negative nancy’s like a few prolific posters on this site and one of the Joes.

    Go Bucs!!!

    In BA I Trust!

  2. AwShbucs Says:

If he Peyton Barber got 3 more carries a game last year he would have been a 1000 yard rusher. Dont really understand you losing so much faith in him. Sure he ran for only about 50 yards a game, but we abandoned the runs quite a lot later in games.

1000 yards in a season is only 62.5 yards a game.

  3. SCBucsFan Says:

Sure Barber can gain 1000 yards. Just give him 30 carries every game. He will get 1010.

  4. Crockett69 Says:

I honestly believe that our team is going to surprise many NFL pundits. Can’t wait for the Cleveland pre-season game to get here….Go Bucs!

it was not a choice….no money

  6. Buc4evr Says:

Devin White will definitely be an upgrade over Kwon and I don’t think Humph will be that big of a loss. We have the WR’s to play slot effectively, and even the TE’s like Brate would be good at slot.

Like other fans, I am however worried about Barber and Jones hitting 1000 yards just because of our sub standard O-line.

  7. DB55 Says:

He might be bigger and faster I just hope he can actually wrap-up unlike Teflon Kwon.

  8. Jared Waldrop Says:

Meant to say we have justin watson and drafted scotty miller to fill for Humphries. Both of them have been seeing a lot of action and doing well with it

  9. ATLBucs Says:

In 2019, do you think Devin White will be better than Kwon Alexander? Provide a reason why or why not.

Kwon got trucked and missed tackes too much for my liking.

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Question 1: Do you think the Bucs did the right thing letting Adam Humphries go in free agency?

Adam was one of my favorite players. I wish he could have remained a Buccaneer. I have a feeling that history will look back and say we made a mistake letting him get away.

That said, I understand, but hate, that it came down to finances. Thankfully, we seem to have replaced him properly. Of course, all we have to go on right now is hype. (#ShowMe-Don’tTellMe)

Question 2: In 2019, do you think Devin White will be better than Kwon Alexander? Provide a reason why or why not.

Genghis Kwon was my absolute favorite defensive player on the team. I’ll miss him immensely. However…in this case I believe we got a huge upgrade. Again, all hype so far, but I have a great feeling about this one.

To sum things up, I currently have little to be down about, but also little to be up about. I’m in wait and see mode, free of expectations so that my blood pressure does not go through the roof this season. Doc has me on BP pills, so hoping to avoid a heart attack.

Question 3: Do you think Peyton Barber can be a 1,000 yard running back?

  11. D-Rome Says:

Sure Barber can gain 1000 yards. Just give him 30 carries every game. He will get 1010.

Can confirm. He would only have to average 2.1 yards per carry!

  12. D-Rome Says:

Question 1: Do you think the Bucs did the right thing letting Adam Humphries go in free agency?

Yes. Bucs have plenty of depth at WR. No great loss.

Question 2: In 2019, do you think Devin White will be better than Kwon Alexander? Provide a reason why or why not.

Yes. He’s bigger, faster, and a better tackler than Kwon. Losing Kwon was no great loss.

Question 3: Do you think Peyton Barber can be a 1,000 yard running back?

Yes, he can be. Will he? Yet to be determined.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

I’m thinking to myself….who are we? A bunch of trolls? We’re HUGE fans.

We have to be…to be here every day bantering back and forth about this BS garbage of a team that brings us nothing but misery season after season.

Ask us….. good to see some of you answered the questions.

I don’t think they had the money to keep Hump for what he wanted/deserved.

Kwon was part of the losing culture. Devin can easily replace him on that alone.

Emmitt Smith would suck behind this o-line. That’s not Barber’s fault.

    Go Bucs!

  14. ManzielMadness Says:

Happy Hump got hiss money but he’s replaceable… Devin White is definitely bigger and faster then Kwon… just hope he’s better with not over pursuing and the missed tackles.

  15. JimmyJack Says:

I’m just glad we have talented WRs on our team and don’t gotta pay #2&3 guys 10mill.

Agree with the other stuff and glad to hear the support for P.Barber. Violent player who gives our offense a nice edge. Id love to see him find more open grass this year!!

I like these FanPulse articles. Pretty cool stuff.

  16. Louis Says:

Devin White is a bigger stronger faster lb, and Quan is still recovering from knee surgery, plus with the contract offered by the 49ersit is a moot point

  17. Wesley Says:

Letting hump go was dumb as hell, but hey Jason Licht so…

  18. Clw JB Says:

Hump is replaced with Godwin, Evans and OJ in the slot – all far better options –

White is far better than QA – 4th rounder versus Top 5 pick – it won’t take long to notice the difference, compare their college tapes

Barber may not run for 1k with a BA offense, but he may have 1200-1300 combined total yards in running and receiving – 800 rushing /450 receiving – I’ll take that
